can i just nerd out for a second about the detail in the jjk s4 trailer ‼️spoilers‼️

amongst EVERY SINGLE artistic choice mappa has ever made regarding the anime adaptation of jjk i think this one is my favorite

bcs yeah megumi summons mahoraga at every small inconvenience (including this scene) BUT if you LOOK IN HIS EYES. YOU CAN SEE YUJI/SUKUNA

except yuji's head is slashed (which, i personally think, is a nod to sukunas technique) and its so beautiful bcs the manga fans know its minutes before megkuna. could also resemble yuji not being his moral compass anymore as sukuna takes over/yuji being the only thing that matters to megumi, the only thing he "sees" #itafushi (this makes sense because you can't see yujis face here so theres no confirmation of whether its sukuna or yuji, and we know that megumi has never seen yuji as sukunas vessel so it could very well be a representation of how megumi VIEWS yuji and how he doesnt care about what's residing in him, so even if this WERE sukuna ie. yuji with the face tattoos megumi would NOT care or see yuji any differently

and the reason I know im not crazy is because they did something similar during the KFC breakup scene with satosugu and mappa animators were VERY intentional especially in S3

toji fushiguro is the foil to the entirety of the zen'in clan, but more precisely, to naoya.

toji fushiguro taking his wife's last name despite coming from a clan that has never respected women or seen them as equals. where a woman's identity is to be erased and replaced with her husband's. toji fushiguro cutting all familial ties he had for a woman.

toji fushiguro was the embodiment of what it meant to be a disgrace to the zen'in clan- no cursed energy and bowing down to a woman. and yet, the clan only survived as long as they did because toji decided not to end them.

toji fushiguro being treated the same way a woman is treated in the zen'in clan, which made him want to reject the misogynist views him and naoya were fed. the reason naoya didn't reject any despite toji being the only person he looked up to was because naoya benefitted from how the clan treats women while toji suffered because of it.
