Intro: Ringwanderung (title explained)
Ever since FACE YOURSELF was released, I see many people confused about the title of the intro.
I’m a native speaker of German, studied languages and my hobby is writing. On the basis of this, I will try to bring some light into the dark.
“Ringwanderung” is indeed a German word but the translations that pop up everywhere (like e.g. “circle hiking”) are somewhat unsuitable.
In general, “Ring” can be translated as “circle” but also as “ring”. “Wanderung”, in it’s most basic meaning, can be understood as “hiking” but that would put too much focus on the fitness activity and neglect the poetic connotation of the word.
The German verb “wandern” is very similar to the English equivalent “to wander”. It has a character of walking around without a particular destination, even to a degree of being lost. It evokes the idea of drifting thoughts, a physical occupation that accompanies a mental activity. Especially as a compound, “Ringwanderung” has an even sublime character to it. There are quite a few of those rather poetic German compounds that cannot be translated directly. Like “Wanderlust” (the desire to undertake a journey) or “Weltenschmerz” (an all-encompassing kind of melancholic pain that affects the human being as a result of the deplorable state of the world itself). “Ringwanderung” conveys the idea of moving in circles, of returning to the starting point after a process of contemplating while moving forward.
Already the mere sound of the word is complex, its meaning does not unfold immediately and, even to a native speaker, an air of uncertainty about its actual meaning will remain. I would say that there is also a positive connotation to it as it mediates the feeling of completion. So, as much as it could refer to an endless process, to being trapped in overthinking the same thing innumerable times, it could also denote a successful completion of a journey, something that is closed in itself. When I think of the word, a Celtic knot comes to my mind.
I hope this helped a little…

Everyone who's ever met Jungkook has talked about how humble and kind and sweet and friendly he is. He helps clean up with the staff, he buys staff things too, he does spontaneous lives for his fans and he's openly said that he's okay with people approaching him if they see him (within reason).
And whilst part of that will be how his parents raised him...your teenage years are hugely influential on what type of person you'll grow into, and what kind of people you surround yourself with are important to that.
What that means, is that teenage Jungkook was basically raised by six other teenage boys of varying ages and backgrounds...and because they were all good, hard working and kind people...it moulded Jungkook into that too. As he said, he could've easily turned into a mean person if they'd been mean because teenagers are so damn impressionable.
And when you look at how universally adored and respected Jungkook is by other idols, the media, the fans and the other members...that's a really great reflection on the kind of people BTS are.
I’ve made this exact point before. JK openly admits that he is a walking amalgamation of the other members, and I’ve said before how lucky he is that he wasn’t put with cruel, manipulative or hurtful people. He was put with six of the purest souls in the universe, and they allowed his pure soul to thrive without needing to hide in layers of someone else’s dirt.
Bless Bangtan, seriously. All, any and every deity out there - bless them. They deserve it.

Self improvement is great but ultimately? you have to accept your self. Yes you can eat better, exercise more, read more, set boundaries, love your self, but it all comes down to this. Some days you won’t have the energy to do any of these things. And you’ll look in the mirror and think that this is not enough. That’s a lie. The biggest love for self is to live slowly. To rest. To really rest. Have a nap. Eat what makes you feel good. Read if you want to. Embrace yourself and accept that you cannot and will not be ever be perfect. Accept that you are good enough. You don’t need to keep busy all the time. you don’t need to go out all the time and post on instagram. You don’t need to journal if you don’t want to. You don’t need to make art if you don’t want to. Breathe, give yourself grace and compassion. Give yourself the love and tenderness you so badly need. Be gentle with yourself. You are trying and it is good enough. You are good enough.
