this is a huge problem in scotland and the UK as a whole. we have no large predators so deer populations skyrocket and overgraze our forests, preventing new saplings from growing. environmentalists have been begging for years to reintroduce lynx. lynx. who do not kill people but occasionally kill sheep. so the government won't reintroduce them. we are prioritising sheep over our country's biodiversity crisis

ever now and then a rumour spreads of a 'beast'. some monstrous felid stalking the moors or the woods. it's usually just a dog. and the press goes feral. fantasising about what it'll do. pushing the idea that any kind of rewilding is an affront to UK values. 'you don't want that in your country, it'll eat your pets and scare your kids' as if seagulls. goddamn seagulls. haven't done the same.

we act like we've got some intrinsic right to sit at the peak of the hierarchy. like the existence of carnivora beyond a dog or a housecat is a personal insult to our nation. hell we still have politicians and old-money eton-grad journalists defending the right to foxhunting. chris packham, a wildlife presenter, received death threats and mutilated animals strung outside his house for opposing 'killing birds for pleasure'.

i need to stress this: the UK is, at the moment, unfathomably cruel. and that's not natural. we've had a tory government for over a decade now. boris johnson, our former PRIME MINISTER, joked to press that he loved fox-hunting in a 'semi-sexual way' and encouraged people to continue it illegally. suella braverman fearmongers about 'dangerous dogs' and the need to euthanise them. it's so hard to find out what the 'general public' thinks of rewilding because our brains have been poisoned by wankers like these.

a lot of people are misunderstanding this post. minors arent taking away your spaces. the internet is not being made safer for children, it is being sanitised for advertisers.

But now, if you type “Barbie.com” you’re taken immediately to Mattel’s online shop, surrounded by nothing but “shop now” links and toy collections.

Disney channel’s website is now “Disneynow.com” which still has games and shows appropriate for kids, but is aimed towards a younger audience as it combines Disney Jr and Disney Channel properties, and the look of the entire site is very juvenile and not very appealing to kids in the tween and young teen demographics.

Nick.com has been similarly streamlined and is focused primarily on streaming its shows, and the only games still left are 10 apps that can’t be played on browser.

Kid-friendly sites like icarly.com, Poptropica, Club Penguin, Neopets, Webkinz etc used to be insanely relevant and popular spaces built for kids and tweens.

Now, kids are being funneled into less moderated, more exploitative, and more public spaces like Roblox (its dangerous and exploitative nature exposed in these videos from People Make Games: (x) (x)), Fortnite (known for its gambling and microtransaction issues), and social media sites like TikTok, YouTube, and Twitter.

My elementary aged cousins spend their time on Roblox, YouTube, and some less than reputable game sites that are full of ads and stolen/reposted/reskinned games. My sister was on Musically/Tiktok and Twitter in middle school. They don’t have the same options for having fun online that I did when I was a kid, especially not when they get too old for nickjr and disneynow.

The internet has been condensed into about 5 popular sites that are full of ads, and it’s not fair to anyone.

Its always morally correct to pirate @Adobe software, especially when they snatch data from your private artwork and feed it to their "Content Analysis" for (in their own words) Machine-Learning.

Theres already people who have gotten the AI to learn correct hand anatomy (albeit a bit wonky, but it's 5 fingers on two hands now.).

Literally what the fuck. This is the scariest shit. People now are teasing it to "hold objects" and "do complicated hand gestures" . My partner you and I both know in months time they will. This fucking sucks. It feels like theres no hope to stop this shit anymore aside from clients and art customers to FUCKING STOP AND LOOK CLOSER AT THE ART.

Like, please if you are commissioning from an artist, ask for like a psd. Or a .clip file. You cant even ask for a "sketch" because theres already programs able to simulate art progress, sketch to render. What the everloving tit shit.

Edit: I've misspoke and am mistaken- dont give the open files willy nilly, i forgot people are assholes who can rip off actual artists. Timelapses are better, as well as progress shots (preferrably with the program frame). I thinm a good way as well to identify is to look close at the brushstroke (hard, Ik but ai genersted images have a sort of weird sharp quality to them)
