I haven't posted an introduction yet, but I'm here to change that.

I'm Paul, but you may know me as Isaac! Please refer to me as Paul though, as I don't feel comfortable with being called my irl name by strangers.

i ranted about this shit already earlier today already but why is there a certain point where it is apparently no longer ok to draw tom a certain skin tone

i get that black tom isn't canon--that's fine. im aware he's just a white dude lmao. artists draw him with different skin tones because he's a fictional character (insert that one clip of tomska being completely chill with black tom headcanons here), and its nice to have creative freedom. giving a fictional character a little bit of melanin isnt gonna hurt anyone.

...but ive always noticed there's a certain point of "skintone darkness" that the fandom is/isn't ok with, and this isn't just referring to white tom:

if you draw him white, you're fine. if you draw him tan/brown, you're mostly fine but you'll occasionally get a few weird comments. if you draw him black, you're getting sent to hell or some shit idfk.

i draw edd with brown skin and i've hardly heard anything negative about him (aside from maybe a comment or two), but i've gotten hundreds of racist comments over tom. wtf is with this weird "skintone limit" ???? and it's always the same stupid ass jokes too. "oh they took away his rights!" "why is tom burnt XD" "insert racist slur here" bro stfu 😂😂😂

its ok to disagree with a headcanon or to simply prefer drawing tom white. but having a "preference" does not give you an excuse to be a racist asshole
