Highrise of Holmes | James Wines

This housing structure offers apartment dwellers the unique advantages of garden space and personalized architectural identity in a multi-story condominium. The building is a steel and concrete matrix supporting a vertical community of private homes, clustered into village-like communities on each floor. One of the objectives is to offer a ‘choice, chance and change’ alternative to conventional housing blocks in the cityscape - replacing this imposed anonymity with an anti-formalist collage of indeterminacy, idiosyncrasy and cultural diversity created by the residents themselves.

Free For Arts Festival 2012, Manchester: Events Co-ordinator and Artist. 

The Free For Arts Festival is a not-for-profit celebration of art and performance presenting a diverse display of visual arts in unique locations around the city. Working as a team we secured funding from the council, event sponsors, exhibition spaces and artists. As an events co-ordinator my role included the assistance in promotion distribution, overseeing installation of works and a point of contact for participating artists. 

As part of the festival I participated in an exhibition named 'Proper Normal Pal' at Piccadilly Place alongside a collective of twelve artists/designers (a.k.a Spring Bank Mill Collective).

Artwork: 7x7m site specific installation extending between four pillars; a construction formulated through a speculative, cogitating process, made entirely of string. Conveying facets of both two and three dimension, its visual structure appeared to fluctuate through movement around the piece.

Evidently, a distracting background made for difficulty capturing the piece, however, a photograph merely shows a two dimensional glimpse, I believe it required physical movement around the piece in order to experience it.
