I feel like the entire concept of fan service is starting to make a massive shift for the better. Look at how even gmmtv pairing are behaving more recently. There isn’t as much of a facade of pretending to be a couple off screen. Instead, the focus has been on the friendship between the pairings and the friendships between all the gmmtv members as a whole. Sure, you’ve got Fourth ready and willing to throw his lips on Gemini at the first signal, but really the boy just really loves kissing. It’s going to be an interesting year or two as Thai BL continues its exponential growth. We will certainly see less of what we traditionally call fan-service and the term itself may evolve.

Also, about Gemini and Fourth - I teach high school and they are such high schoolers. There is no mistake there. Even their attempts at flirting is something I see daily. The closer the friends, the weirder they are around each other. They are just being themselves and fourth will kiss anyone.

nearly everything about western attempts at queer representation is so sanitized and obsessed with being "clean" it's sickening and deadly boring

to them queer folks can't be shown being anything other than harmless, morally perfect, bland depictions. otherwise "what would the straights think?? what if they don't like us anymore?"

white people and other western folks getting on their high horses about all of their queer art being somehow superior since it panders to a straight audiences that would disown them at the sight of a "problematic gay" are insufferable and it reeks of white entitlement and racism

dirty, loudmouthed, "bad" queers have always been the ones to carry our movement forward throughout history. we get nowhere by pandering to straight masses that have no interest in aiding our liberation

these people don't get to pat themselves on the back for being "one of the good ones" and making "real, clean, unfetishized queer art" while putting down queer asian media that's still taking part in our fight to try to get our countries to a minimum degree of queer acceptance

to them the fight is over as long as the white straights let them live with the boot on their necks and make boring shit
