I came across a video where the pairing Reylo was mentioned as an "from enemies to lovers" trope and I wanted to speak out on the topic.

Honestly I don't see any romantic subtext here. I don't quite understand the Reylo...like... Yeah maybe she was Kylo's favorite but Rey... she clearly didn't see him as a romantic interest. Rey has her own life, her own friends and acquaintances, she has a large social circle in general and I didn't get the impression that she was very attached to Ren. Maybe it was just the running time that wasn't enough but in the end she didn't even really grieve his death because she had another goal - to help the rebels and the storyline with Kylo... like a side one, I guess. She guided him to the light side and sort of finished the job here switching back to her friends. So I rather see unrequited love or something like that here but definitely not a pairing.

P.S. don't get me wrong I'm not saying that this ship is bad or shouldn't exist I'm just saying it's strange to me.

For clarification of that interaction you just had:

Reylo shippers have been dealing with a never-ending barrage of negativity, gaslighting, and harassment since 2015. A decade. And yes, it's still ongoing.

You can have your own opinion, sure, but it's very bad form to post negativity in a ship tag. Don't do that. You will get pushback because the shippers are tired of hearing that people don't like the ship. We know. Just leave us alone. We don't want to hear about you "just not seeing it."

Ship tags are for shippers, end of story. If you don't have anything nice to say about a ship, stay out of its tag and you're golden. This is basic tumblr etiquette.

I'm sorry I'm really new to the fandom and to tumblr because I only found out about it when I was a teenager and I really didn't have any negative intentions!! I didn't know about what had happened before and I didn't want to support the hatred!!

The post itself is fine; nobody would take issue with what you wrote. It was respectful! The only issue is the Reylo tag. You can write whatever you like, and your opinions are your own! You didn't insult anyone, you didn't threaten anyone, it's all good. The general Star Wars tag is fine, but if you want to find people who share your views, "reylo-critical" would be a better fit, I think. Or even "anti-reylo", but that's where you'll also find people with a very deep-set hatred for the ship. Just be sure to use the dash when writing the tag, not space! Tumblr is a bit stupid about compound tags, so stuff tagged as "anti reylo" will show up in the main reylo tag. And then people will get upset again 😂

TLDR: No need to delete the entire post, just remove the reylo tag and all is good.

Edit: I wonder if the reason you don't see romance is cultural. It's very possible that the US has very different visual symbolism from Russian film - at least that's my impression.

Hey I would like to apologize for my last post.

I didn't know what was going on in fandom when I was a kid and I couldn't imagine that my words could hurt someone. I'm really sorry and now that it's been explained to me, I think I'll be more careful with my words in the media space. But please understand I really couldn't even imagine that my opinion which I formed separately from fandom could end up being so negative.

Nothing I have said or am about to say should have a negative connotation and please correct me if I accidentally break this rule out of ignorance. I am in favor of comfortable conditions of communication in the media and the absence of conflicts
