For his 21st bday, my brother asked me for a glossy lemon loaf cake so I used Savor Easy recipe to do so. I usually buy new horse decorations and cake toppers but this time I took some of his favourite horse pictures to make the toppers. I thought that rather than having some random horses on his cake, he would like to see his favourites!
For my partner's birthday I made him a biscoff cheesecake. However, when I tried to take it out of the tin, it dropped and got completely destroyed. To save it, I put the mix into cupcake liners and made a bit of fuss with the presentation.
After making the crochet ebook sleeve, I wanted to make something to protect my books in my bag. I started this project a few times because I wasn't sure of the colour, and ended up with this beige and brown neutral combo that will look nice will all the books. I liked the detail of the stars; I wanted to make more but I got tired and just left it like that. It is time consuming! I tried to make the sleeve a standard size that will fit most of my current books, especially the Agatha Christie booklet, as I am collecting these ones.
This is a crochet ebook sleeve I made for my partner. I recently gifted him an ebook, and instead of spending money on a simple case, I thought of just making him one. It has been a while since I made a crochet item and it was really easy and fun.
For my mother-in-law' bday I made her the Merry Chocolate Cake recipe by Savor Easy. I usually do the same recipes and just change the flavours but keep the base but this time I wanted to do something different. It was my first time making chocolate ganache and it was an exciting and simple process. I struggled to find out what whipped cream was used on the recipe tho so I ended up using nata para cocinar. I did want to try a vegan friendly version as I am lactose intolerant but chocolate is so expensive!! I ended up using normal milk as I didn't want to spend too much money so sadly, while the cake tastes amazing, I can't eat it. My mil thinks it is one of the best cakes I have ever do! Apart of the ganache, it was my first time making a two-tier cake!! So exciting. I don't bake much but I am trying more daring things. Excited for next bday cake I will do by the end of October!
As I was working on partner's crochet gift, I looked into making my mother-in-law something nice for her bday and found a lot of cute crochet animal patterns. I was sure I wanted to make a keychain as it is something she can use on the daily rather than a small plushie. I ended up making her this cherry keychain that has her two cats: Marfil (white) and Dodowap (brown). It was a really easy pattern to follow made by Monua DIY and looks extra cute!!
For my brother's graduation, I got him some small horses to stick on his wall. I was inspired by Melani Michelle (@melanimichelleart on yt) 's horse wall. I thought it was an adorable idea to paint some "frens" around her house and to have one wall being dedicated to her favourite horse characters. In my case, I drew my brother's three favourite horses: Lenny, Jackitu and Thor, and wrote a simple message in the back. As I can't paint on my brother's wall, I laminated the watercolour drawings and used blue tack to stick it on the wall. He really liked it and loved the idea and put them next to other paintings I did for him. Now he's got new horse decor to enjoy! :)
This is the other side of the postcard. It was a lot of fun to draw and paint as this is a new technique for me. I followed the steps of Anna Kwan (@xoxoannakwan on yt) 's watercolour drawings of her NY food trips. Like she does, firstly I used a pencil to trace the lines and then go over it with a black pen. After erasing the pencil traing, I used my watercolours to paint. I haven't painted watercolours in a long while, so I couldn't exactly replicate her style.
The key moment of Kwan's drawings, and what makes her style pop out is the use of white gel pens. She uses the Presto White Point Jumpo Correction pen, and the most similar thing that I found at the stationary shop was the Tipp-ex Shake and Squeeze. The use of tipp-ex for highlights is incredibly smart, and gives my watercolours a pop I never seen before on my work. However, I must say is that it is a bit challenging to use. In her videos she shows great skill and applies the gel effortlessly; it is a medium you need to practice to get the hang of it, especially so you don't get a full white blop in the middle of your drawing. To make it easier and have more control, I ended up applying the liquid on to a plastic lid and use a needle to apply it to the postcard. I am happy with the results.
This postcard was gifted to my partner's friend A. We haven't hang out much but I had a clear idea on what to gift her after she invited us to her bday party. A loves horses as much as my brother, so after years of drawing Lenny and co, I was excited to draw A's favourite horse Dama.
I wanted to draw something different of my style and Sam Todd (@samjtodd on yt) 's hand tattoos were a heavily inspiration for the girly elements. It took me around 3h to draw and go over it with a black pen, which includes the time going through pinterest to find the inspiration for the small details. Painting took a couple more hours.
This is the first time I look at the time when making a piece, to have a rough idea how long it takes me from start to finish. The main reason why is because I was slightly interested in making commissions, and it would be good to understand how long it takes me so I can charge correctly. The other side of the postcard will be in the next post:)
Inspired by pinterest, I made these tic tac toe brownies for my friend who just went under surgery.
For my bday this year I made a sweet vanilla loaf cake with vanilla paste buttercream. As a topper, I used chocolate pencils to draw puffles, the pets of the Club Penguin game.
My partner recently revived an old board game association in our town and for a few months he has fully swamped of work to make sure everything was perfect for the reopening. Along with his friends, he has been working to sort it all out and I wanted, in my own way, show my support. The fourth picture shows the old logo of the aso and I thought to make a new one based on it. With sneaky questions, he told me he wanted to give the dice faces and make it look nicer. While this is not the logo they will use, as it is not intended for it, I found it stimulating to have full creative freedom without expectations or deadlines. I used pinterest for inspiration and guidance for the expressions, as there are too many options to choose from! I am overall happy with the design, and the painting process was an interesting one for sure. I had that piece of grey-ish paper for a while now and thought it was the perfect time to experiment with it. I used pencil colours for coloring and the lettering. The font comes from retro videogames from the 80s and 90s, which is where I started this proyect with: by looking for diverse logos of board games, such as Warhammer, and vintage video games because they have a style that my partner really likes.
A late sweet valentine's gift. I made some salty brownies, which is already a staple at home, as well as almond and chocolate cupcakes. These cupcakes were specially made for my mother-in-law as she can't eat a lot of sugar or wheat. I found an almond cake recipe by Savor Easy that was flourless and gluten free and gave it a try. Almond flour was expensive and difficult to find and the cupcakes tasted a bit bland. The consistency and texture was good but as it was my first time trying this recipe I made them in a cupcake format and made 1/3 with a few chocolate chips to try different outcomes.
For 2025 Valentine's day I decided to make a Jellycat inspired plushie for D. I am obsessed with jellycats, and I love to share my "frens" with D so much so that I wanted him to have his own. The heart jellycat plush comes in red or pink, but I made it yellow for him. The label really made it become part of the jellycat squad, and I am really happy how it turned out.

For D's bday I made Apple Cinnamon Muffins by Savor Easy. They tasted really nice; apple and cinnamon pair really well together. However, him and a few of his family members weren't so passionate of having thick fruit bits on sweet desserts but my mother-in-law liked them a lot!
For my brother's 20's bday I made, once again, a horse-themed bday. I made him a chocolate chip loaf but... it burned a bit... Let's just say its the dirt of the horses land. Still, it tasted nice but I am gonna step up my game next year!
