Marsha P. Johnson within the crowd at a New York Gay Pride (1982)
These two images hit different to me.
The top is my homestate. Michigan. Armed protestors against the stay at home order shouting in the faces of police because they want their haircuts.
The bottom is yesterday. Minnesota. More exact, Minneapolis. Miles from where I live. Protestors sitting while police show up in riot gear as they rightfully protest and demand justice for the murder of George Floyd.
Iām not the least bit shocked. But seeing the stark contrast from two places Iāve called home is so disappointing and infuriating that the racist system we live in allows for this and thereās still people who will say the protestors in Minneapolis were wrong. Just... Iām so angry the āland of the freeā fails so many people. America was never the land of the free.
Reminder that Stonewall wasnāt about marriage equality. Stonewall was about police brutality. It was about systemic abuse and subordination. Stonewall was spearheaded by black trans women. As we celebrate Pride 2020, within the context of the Black Lives Matter riots, itās imperative that we remember that.
Riots in protest of police brutality are the reason that we have more rights today. Do not forget your roots.
You canāt celebrate Pride while simultaneously condemning the Black Lives Matter riots and protests that are happening right now. Know your history.
ARE THERE INFINITELY MANY WHAT
math was a goddamn mistake id like to sit down and have a serious talk with every mathematician ever they knew perfectly well the nature of their crimes
Not to be that larrie but..
Is it just me or is the ābody positiveā movement not working? Like at all?
Other people have said this before/better, but the problem was presenting all women as beautiful as opposed to eliminating the need for women to be beautiful
Itās not working because the focus is STILL on trying to view yourself as attractive no matter how you look, instead of (as stated above) eliminating the need to feel āattractive.ā
The body positive movement SHOULD be focused on bodily autonomy and taking care of your health. The best way to be āpositiveā toward your body is to treat it well, not by repeating some āI am beautifulā mantra over and over. You donāt have to be pretty. You donāt have to see yourself as pretty. Others donāt have to see you as pretty. PRETTY IS NOT IMPORTANT. Pretty is not your worth. You exist for you, not for anyone elseās gaze.
do u ever just wanna sit outside with someone and talk all night?
That would be nice.
i can say embarrassing things on here because yāall are not real
My parents arenāt home
You know what that means

Sitting at a table with my hands folded in front of me and a placid expression on my face while an adult man passionately and incoherently argues with me while a female coworker hides a smirk behind her hand and winks at me is⦠an experience.
Iām glad you got to have such a quintessentially female experience. All of us have⦠a Lookā¢ļø we share when a man is blathering at one of us and thinks we should be hanging on every word.
I donāt think I can describe the look on his face when I explained thatĀ ālogic" is a value-neutral system of getting from a premise to a conclusion, and thatĀ āstupidā human behaviors can still have consistent internal logic.
āThereās nothing logical about wearing jeans with holes in them!ā he insisted.
āThat depends,ā I said. āDo you accept that wearing āfashionableā clothing aids in securing social acceptance, and thatĀ āripped-up jeansā are generally regarded as fashionable? Then saying that āwearing ripped-up jeans helps gain social acceptanceā is logically sound, even if you and I both think that ripped-up jeans are tacky, or that this kind of social acceptance isnāt a desirable goal. Those are subjective opinions.ā
He really didnāt like that. He also didnāt like when I told him that he cannot make a valid counterpoint to what I have to say if he interrupts me before I can say it.
My hero
You also win for having enough self control not asking him how he puts his legs into his jeans if they have no holes.
where the fuck do people keep meeting each other? iāve never met one person in my fucking life
I love that team rocket is in PokĆ©mon go now but I just canāt them seriously bc their main goal is to steal items from poke stops but likeā¦..poke stops are free? You donāt have to steal them you can literally just walk up to a poke stop and get the items for free. Itās like stealing a balloon on free balloon day
Sounds like they managed a completely accurate representation of Team Rocket.
R.I.P. The 2976 American people that lost their lives on 9/11 and R.I.P. the 48,644 Afghan and 1,690,903 Iraqi and 35000 Pakistani people that paid the ultimate price for a crime they did not commit
So Mexicans Are Taking Jobs from Americans
by Jimmy Santiago Baca
O Yes? Do they come on horses with rifles, and say, Ese gringo, gimmee your job? And do you, gringo, take off your ring, drop your wallet into a blanket spread over the ground, and walk away?
I hear Mexicans are taking your jobs away. Do they sneak into town at night, and as youāre walking home with a whore, do they mug you, a knife at your throat, saying, I want your job? Even on TV, an asthmatic leader crawls turtle heavy, leaning on an assistant, and from a nest of wrinkles on his face, a tongue paddles through flashing waves of lightbulbs, of cameramen, rasping āTheyāre taking our jobs away.ā Well, Iāve gone about trying to find them, asking just where the hell are these fighters.
The rifles I hear sound in the night are white farmers shooting blacks and browns whose ribs I see jutting out and starving children, I see the poor marching for a little work, I see small white farmers selling out to clean-suited farmers living in New York, whoāve never been on a farm, donāt know the look of a hoof or a the smell of a womanās body bending all day long in fields. I see this, and I hear only a few people got all the money in this world, the rest count their pennies to buy bread and butter.
Below that cool green sea of money, millions and millions of people fight to live, search for pearls in the darkest depths of their dreams, hold their breath for years trying to cross poverty to just having something. The children are dead already. We are killing them, that is what America should be saying; on TV, in the streets, in offices, should be saying, āWe arenāt giving the children a chance to live.ā Mexicans are taking our jobs, they say instead. What they really say is, let them die, and the children too.
