1. What's your blog title from? "blue skies and bright sunshine" is from The Fortune Hunter, a play by W. S. Gilbert. This play has been described as "old-fashioned", but I find it compelling and interesting overall, and I think more people should read it. It also has (in my opinion) a really good lead female character.
2. What movie have you watched most recently? What did you think of it? Amadeus. I liked the pacing and color schemes. And of course the music was great 🎶
3. What are you looking forward to right now? An IRL musical event happening next month.
4. If you could do anything at all today, what would it be?
Realistically: Bookstore or thrift store.
Unrealistically: Songwriting session with Olivia Rodrigo.
5. What's your drink of choice? (Coffee/tea order, alcohol of choice, soda, etc.) Black tea or mint tea; orange juice; cola or Dr. Pepper; Rivella, if I can get it.
6. What's your hair routine like? Anything special? 2-in-1 shampoo & conditioner. The less time I need to spend on my hair, the happier I am.
7. What's your favorite way to travel? Is there a mode of travel you haven't done that you want to experience? 1. By car, with someone else driving :P 2. I think teleportation would be fun; someone should go ahead and invent that so that I can experience it.
8. Favorite month of the year and why? June, because it includes the start of summer.
9. Favorite time of day and why? Early afternoon: late enough that I'm fully awake, but early enough that I'm not yet racing to get things done before the day is over.
10. Do you play or follow any sports? Elaborate on that. No. I dislike playing any sport and watching most sports. I like watching ice skating and gymnastics videos, though.
11. What kind of music is stuck in your head a lot lately? Handel. Can't complain!
12. Dishes or laundry? Laundry (less likely that water gets everywhere).
13. What's something you learned recently? Information about Maude Adams' contributions to stage lighting technology.
14. If you could give a TED talk on anything, what would you talk about?
If I have time to research: how human memory works (why I can't remember if I have sufficient expertise to give a TED talk about any topic...)
If I don't: I'll decide once I get on stage!
15. What's a piece of advice you find yourself giving a lot? I'm not often asked to give advice, but here's something I would like to shout from the rooftops: be nicer to your past self! Talking negatively about your past self is still talking negatively about yourself.
16. What's a piece of advice you would give to yourself five years ago? The serious answer: I wouldn't. 1: I don't believe that experience necessarily makes me "know better" than my past self, so for all I know, my advice might be entirely wrong for 2021!me. 2. If 2021!me follows my advice, then my current self might not exist anymore due to changes in the timeline.
However, if I must: "If there's a movie you're thinking of watching, watch it now, while you still have the free time!"
17. Do you believe in luck and superstition? Do you carry any lucky items or follow any lucky rules? If I do luck/superstition-based things, I would like for them to be based on hope rather than fear. I don't want to have rules, because then I'd be terrified of breaking the rules. However, I have a "lucky theatre shirt" that I've worn to most G&S shows I've attended.
18. Are you musical? Play any instruments or sing? Would you ever perform for an audience? Yes! I sing and I play violin and mandolin. I have performed for audiences in the past and intend to do so in the future.
19. Write, type, or speak? Type. Learning how to type was awful, but it's the only option of the 3 that's fast enough for me to get my thoughts out while also allowing me to go back and edit as needed.
20. What do you wish someone would ask you? As long as they're nice, I'll accept ask messages about pretty much anything! 😁
