Why do people think Twenty One Pilots are so revolutionary for having intersectional genres in their music? You want synth rock? Bam, Le Tigre, or Mindless Self Indulgence. You want rap rock? Bam, Gym Class Heroes. You want ukulele power anthems? Bam, Amanda Palmer.  Like, several musicians have been doing everything they’re doing for years upon years, but the only reason Twenty One Pilots is recognized for it widely and they aren’t is because they are straight, white-passing men who keep their lyrics almost entirely politically clean.
