It’s strange to have a type of nostalgia over movie theater popcorn, specifically from the old picture house downtown, but you just can’t recreate that buttery taste anywhere else.

Still, it’d be even stranger to go just for the popcorn. Know any good flicks out?

Is that right? I haven't had the chance to give it a try as of yet. I don't think it's weird to go for popcorn to a movie. I used to go to this movie place by my childhood home that had the best burgers in town. I used to find excuses for it all the time.

I think I saw that Noah is out? Though I'm not sure how politically correct it'll be, but it seems quite revolutionary. Though I have been leaning towards action movies lately. I have a sinking feeling if I watch Nonstop, I wouldn't want to get on a plane anymore, but then again. You can't go wrong with Liam Neeson, right?

 “Thank you. You’re really turning out to be my knight in shining armor.” He wasn’t use to being called that, well he had heard it being said to him mockingly and those who said it normally ended up dead. But Melanie meant it which struck a chord in him. He was known as the destroyer not the healer. Taking a deep breath in he smiled hiding his thoughts. “You’re welcome.” He let her ramble, he could tell he was making her nervous and holding her hand wasn’t helping so he let it go. As she spoke of different movies the idea of kissing her passed through his head but he shook it off.  Yes, she looked adorable when she rambled which is a word he hasn’t used very often. But spending nearly nine-hundred years on your own… It made him have walls that she seemed to be cracking through but he wasn’t going to risk anything yet s he shoved the thought down. “Hmm… I have no idea what Donnie Darko is so I am up for watching that.”

Melanie touched her forehead, her cheeks a bright crimson as she exhaled slowly smiling shyly. Yes, another one of her outbursts, and he wasn't running away. Instead, it seemed, he wanted to stay longer. She couldn't fathom how that could be so, but questioning it now, would taint the already wonderful evening she was having. Well, sans the cut. But she wasn't feeling that at the moment. Instead, she got up, and nodded once. "Right. I'll get on that." she got up briskly nearly running over Cosmo, before blinking twice, and picking him up and murmuring i'm sorrys. She looked at Jesse somewhat embarrassed then headed back to the living room to choose the selection. When she did, she couldn't help but feel the burning words on her lips. "Why?" she made eye contact with him for a moment, before putting Cosmo to the side. "Jesse, I know I invited you in...but, why are you still here? I mean, I thought for sure you'd have ran away by now, with my awkwardness and clearly, inability to handle mugs under hot water phase..." she shook her head, looking at him questioningly.

Do I look like Miley yet or should I take off some more clothes for that?

I would probably be more help, if I knew who Miley was, but the swinging looks like fun.

After letting her sit down he quickly moved into the bathroom opening the medicine cabinet. He found the first aid kit in seconds pulling it out and heading back to the kitchen. He hadn’t moved this fast for someone else’s injuries before unless you count inflicting them. Placing it on the table he opened it then turning to Melanie. “I’m going to have to take the towel off.” He didn’t ask her if it was okay. He learned a long time ago the longer you wait with a wound the worse it got so he pulled her hand to him taking the towel off and looking it over. It wasn’t too bad, wouldn’t need and stitches, clean cut and only a couple of layers deep. She might get a scar. Taking out the wipes he cleaned it carefully before grabbing some bandages and wrapping her hand up. He had, had too many years of doing this so he was finished in a matter of minutes before looking up at her. “All done.” but he didn’t let go of her hand.

The speed in which Jesse was going through the motions was mindboggling. It almost distracted her from the thought of seeing the blood on her hand again. As he sat beside her, he warned her of what he was going to do, almost as if he had known of her fears. Melanie nodded slowly at his words, and he quickly cleaned and wrapped her up as if it were a turn of a key in the ignition. She couldn't help but turning her head to the side and look at him through her glasses. He really was extraordinary. "Thank you. You're really turning out to be my knight in shining armor." she joked, as Cosmo started to play with a ball of yarn. He was still holding her hand, causing her temperature to rise. She could feel it, so she looked away shylyy, with a small smile. "I'm the hostess, and you're the one making things better." she continued, feeling her rambling start again. "I should probably clean up the sink, I still have to make you that second cup right? I think I have some apple pie in my fridge too. They're a great match. Annie Hall was pretty great, wasn't it? If we want to go along with classics, I have Casa Blanca, and something much more modern, Donnie Darko. I really like how they captured the idea of us having preconceived actions within moments of it occurring. So we don't really have control over anything, unless we have a gift in which we are able to control our own decisions, and not at all become something of the common occurrence. Don't you find that fascinating?

Oh, I know. It’s….refreshing. There’s a lot less shame in being naked as a man. Though it’s weird having that dangling around while I walk.

But we can't lose common courtesies during a time like this. A true crisis of self identity. As, amusing as you find this, I rather...[looks away, covering his eyes] be part of the humble crowd that cover up. I've only seen my new friend down there perhaps twice. I try not to stare since I doubt this is a permanent replacement to my body and it might be disrespectful.

Which Witch? || Ianthe & Miles

She entered the coffee shop, adjusted the hat on her head, and looked around. in line was only one person, and that person was a handsome young man looking like he could definitely use a break. He looked absolutely beat. Of course, Ianthe would love to just waltz up and hand him one of her many rejuvenating potions, but that really wasn’t how it worked around here… unfortunately.

Ianthe, as a male, wasn’t really one to be attracted to other men. Really, it only happened once, and to his own defense, that man was pretty feminine. He liked pretty things; holding them, cherishing them. And, of course, women tended to be prettier, daintier, and over-all more lovable than men. And women usually let him pamper them, which he loved to do.

But maybe it was his opposite gender that found this man attractive. Of course, it wasn’t anything major, just pointing out the obvious, actually. Or maybe instead of attraction, she felt she could empathize with his exhausted eyes and his ruffled hair. She would be kidding herself if she said she hadn’t had those kind of nights way too often to be healthy. She was glad that sometimes she could use magic to her own benefit.

So she approached the man, if not to start a conversation, then to get in line for some well-deserved coffee.

"Hello," she quipped, reaching up to tap his shoulder. She frowned, realizing her own height for the first time. She wasn’t used to being so… short. 6’1, her original height, was more average among warlocks, if not a little taller. Now she was 5’7 "Are you alright? You look really tired.”

As the barrista started to brew his espresso, Melanie's consistent drumming on the table became a tad too loud that he made himself stop, taking a moment to breathe. Perhaps food needed to be in his system before another sleepless day occurred. Before he could make a decision, he felt a tap on his shoulder, which brought him around in curiosity. It was a blonde haired girl, with light blue eyes. The expression clearly shown in her eyes as attentive, and bright -- two usual adjectives that were used to describe herself when he was, well. Normal. Quirking a smile quickly, he widened her eyes a little more to be able to appear a tad more awake than before. "Hi there," he replied, passing his hand along the back of his head. He was taken aback by her question. Was he really looking that bad? Melanie was the type to be very mindful of his appearance at all times. Being professional was never an issue on his account, when it came to solving the mysteries. Looking down for a moment somewhat embarrassingly, he quickly assured the woman, "Uh..yeah I'm alright. I apologize. I've had a rough time and my diet has mainly consisted of coffee, and well. Coffee." he joked, making light of the situation despite his seemingly disarray of presence.

"Didn't mean to send out an uncomfortable vibe around here. I actually should be getting less of this stuff, but I'm anything if not hard-headed when I'm on to something." he admitted aloud. "In any case, I'm Mm--I mean Miles." nods, doing his best not to commence with anymore nervous ticks from his coffee consumption. Behind him, the barista called out his order, and he took it, giving the person a wink and taking a sip. It was relatively hot, so he stuck his tongue out for a second, before chuckling almost inaudibly, embarrassed. Yeah. Today he was going to be show of amusement. Another not so productive like he'd like day. His braniac ego was taking a very huge blow.

Mine’s smooth as silk. It’s sad to admit that I’m more attracted to it than my own boyfriend’s! Or girlfriend’s… however this works. I feel you, Mel. I literally cannot stop eating! I’ve probably been through three drive thrus today, and that’s saying something!

Mel, that sounds a bit crazy...understandable, but crazy. [laughs] but I can't blame you one bit. I have nothing to compare my voice with. The last boy I dated was like...three years ago, maybe? [shakes her head]  We certainly have to pace ourselves then. Hopefully if this transformation situation clears out, we won't have to suffer the consequences...most of my work clothes are fitted. Also, I suddenly like the combination of pickles and peanut butter....

You wouldn’t be at peace. I know you well enough in the few weeks we have spoken to know you won’t be at peace till you know absolutely everything. So that left over 10% would drive you mad.

My place is old. [Chuckles] I have nothing new in here which I should probably work on. [Shrugs his shoulders taking a seat in a massive leather chair he has in the corner of his room.] I’ve been unpacking for four years, never get round to doing it properly. Charm? These old things? [Taps on a set of old oak draws.] That’s a first, many call it a crypt or a museum. [Smiles.] Well as you can see, we’re not short on books. [Laughs as his eyes trail over the many books piling high in shelves and on his nightstand.] I could never through my books away, so I have over two thousand in this tiny little place. [Raises his eyebrow] I guess we’ll just have to test some stuff out then.

You got me there. I cannot tell a lie. 

Why would something new be a necessity? [watches her as she takes a seat at the leather chair in the far corner. It almost reminded of him of something his dad used to do. His adoptive father.]  I would hardly call it a crypt. But it is unique to other homes I've visited, if that counts? [he looks around, and nods, running his hand through his hair only to notice he had none; he brings his hands down now knowing what to do with them so he tucks them in his pants pockets] I wouldn't know where to start. Do you have anything by L. Frank Baum? [looks at her curiously not certain what she meant] I guess we could. I mean, I'd like that. [he smiled at her, and walked closer, peering over the titles running his fingers over the bindings]

Well, jeez, so are you! This is really different. I can actually grab stuff off of shelves. It’s much different from being 5,2. [awkwardly pulls away because of the unfamiliarity] Eh, it’s a little troublesome to be honest. It’s unnatural alright! I’ve had to adjust how I walk, sit, stand, talk, eat, pee. Let me just tell you, it’s a trip.

I really can't get over my voice. I love it. Might record myself to remember how I sounded! [laughs] This transition is almost like growing up again. One thing I'm noticing is, I'm always hungry. I ate two burgers today. Not a common occurrence, because I wasn't even that full at the end of it.

Are you insulting my math? You wound me Melanie. [Chuckles meeting his gaze.] Too bad, you’re going to have to wait till after your nap.

[Walks into his room which is covered in dark colours and his collection from many centuries along with his instruments. Turning back to Melanie.] Melanie, I’ll be fine and you’ll be fine. I promise. And if that still doesn’t calm your nerves how about I stay by your side while you rest?

That wasn't my intention really. I was just clarifying you're withholding the very reason I got a headache in the first place. If I were to know the 90% you know, I could be at peace. 

Your place is amazing [she observed, walking around looking at all old rustic things] I'd love to see when you finally unpack everything. It already has it's charm. [she turned her attention once more to him, and nodded] Just for a bit. I told you, I'm stubborn, so it won't happen soon. I'd have to tire out, or read a book [she shook her head] I don't know. Maybe my old habits weren't work as much since I'm in a different body.

Which Witch? || Ianthe & Miles

When Ian woke up, he immediately felt the presence of magic and became defensive. He inched around his room, looking for where the source was coming from, when he suddenly stepped out in front of his wall-length mirror. He stared at his reflection, watching when he raised his arm, and the woman staring back at him mimicked the action. A smile spread across her lips, she started to laugh.

It was so exciting! Well, maybe not suddenly becoming a female, but the fact that there might very well be a warlock in the town powerful to make everyone the opposite gender. Unless it was only him, but that would be odd. He couldn’t be the only one genderswapped.

So Ian, or Ianthe, decided to go out. She used her magic to transform her closet into all women’s clothes. She pulled on a long, form-fitting grey dress with an attached little shaw-like material covering her shoulders. Then she grabbed a matching little hat and put it on.

"This is so exciting," she said in her new voice. She wanted to badly to find the warlock who did this, or witch! She’d wanted to master the gender swap spell for a while, but never quite got it, unfortunately.

"I feel like having a coffee," she muttered, and grabbed a purse she made appear. So she made her way to the coffee shop down the street.

Rest. She was told that the bags under her eyes had increased since the day before. But how could she think about sleeping when she had no idea if this transformatin had an expiration date? While Melanie knew things just happened, she also knew they could be avoided. Mysteries were one of her most prized past times. While a young girl, sherlock holmes and nancy drew had taken upon a whole other meaning for her youth. It guided her into what she now did for a living: solving mysteries. What good was all that talent, all that determination if it was of no help when a real tragedy --one that impacted so many-- hit? 

Determined, and going against promises she had made before, Melanie drove to the nearest coffee shop. The coffee at her places just wan't strong enough anymore. Massaging her temples with one hand, she drove with the other, taking her time to get there since her eyesight was slightly failing her. The lack of sleep was taking a toll on her already. As she circled twice for a paralllel parking, she finally found someone leaving, and took their spot just a block's walk to the cafe.

Walking towards the door, her the movements and sways of her body all felt odd, unreal. As if she was in a dream, seeing things from a different eye. Thanking her graces, there was no line, so the now muscular brown haired blue eyed man went up to the counter. "Three shots of espresso, please." she asked politely, drumming her fingers on the counter. A tick she had developed hours ago -- nothing she hadn't experienced before.

Melissa?! Wow you're gorgeous! [laughs] And super tall, like I am as well. [beams, engulfing her sister in a hug. the gesture feeling awkward since the built was so different; but it was warm nonetheless] How have you been holding up with all of this? I've had a completely difficult time letting myself go with the flow...this is utterly unnatural.
