I started watching Eyewitness and omg they weren't kidding about the Stranger Things parallels like the whole show is about a string of crimes that are getting covered up while an investigation tries to happen through the hardships as more bodies pile up but then you add the Philip/Lukas and Byler of it all and it gets even bigger. Philip is gay and is interested in Lukas who keeps denying that he's also queer (despite the fact that he is actively making out with Philip constantly) and can't find or properly express the love that he desperately wants to feel for his girlfriend. And I mean the argument scenes in the garages are so similar in staging and content that it's no wonder people were using it as Byler evidence, although it ends with a kiss in Eyewitness

They straight up used the garage fight as a reference. There's no way they were just coincidentally the same.

They also made up Rink-o-Mania to look like the gay bar from Dawson's Creek.

I'm sure there are other examples that I'm just not thinking of at the moment, but the Duffers used queer media to portray Byler (well, Will's unrequited "crush" arc, I guess), and then had the gall to tell us we were reading into things that weren't there.

Dude, didn't Eyewitness drop in like- 2016/2017 too? Literally just a couple years before season 3 dropped? There is absolutely no fucking way that one of the writers for season 3 didn't watch this show, see that moment, and present a perfect parallel to it.

It's the same. fucking. shot. The only thing that's missing is the rain!

Yup, it's the same. The blocking is the same. They're both backlit. There's a car in the background for both scenes. The character on the left upsets the one on the right by saying something about their sexuality. The character on the right sadly leaves on a bike, too, IIRC.

But "iT wAs NeVeR eVeN hInTeD."

Edit: I could be wrong about the bike thing. I swear I remember it, but it might not be the same scene.
