One of the many things Aiden was grateful for when it came to Amelia was that he could talk to her about anything and not feel like he was bugging her. It didn’t matter if she was a part of what he was talking about or had any actual interest in it, she listened to him anyway, let him rattle on if he needed to. Not to say he didn’t do the same for her, because he did, but if he were honest, he was way more aware of how often he had a bunch of shit to say. Knowing each other for as long as they had made that kind of open and continuous conversation easy, he figured. Giving a tilted nod of his head, a thoughtful but still subtly joking expression touched his features. “It’s probably a solid first plan, considering it’s technically still a US state and not a foreign country. But what do I know? Not a lot.” He snickered with a loose shrug of his shoulders. Nodding his head at her look alone, reading the way she’d put the pieces together in her mind, he grinned. “Oh, I’d have to be there, for sure, for wrangling purposes.” He nodded, smiling. “Not to mention, now I’d make a pretty sweet tour guide, since I’ve been to some of the cool places worth going to. One day. We’ll get there one day.” As he said it, he found himself hoping that Amelia would get to go one day, with him or not. She would love it, and she deserved to experience he, he’d told her that even while he was still there. “In the meantime, though,” Aiden’s brows lifted as he toyed with the straw in his iced coffee. “You’ve got gifts from my trip, so.”
Despite being so happy for Aiden, and so excited that he’d been given the opportunity, Amelia was selfishly happy he was home. They’d talked nearly every day he was gone, but being around Aiden always had this sort of infectious affect on Amelia. It was so hard not to smile and laugh when she was around him, making him do so was one of her favorite things, and it was always better in person. Shaking her head as she took a sip of her iced coffee, Amelia cracked a smile before she spoke. “Shut up, you know lots of things, probably more things than me now.” Her eyes widened a little, mouth turning into an ‘o’ shape to show surprise before she let out a tiny laugh. Her face softened though, hearing him say they’d get there one day, and Amelia could really only dream it. Going anywhere with Aiden would be great, but going to Italy with him? That’d be something else entirely. Her eyes narrowed when he continued, mentioning gifts from his trip. “I’m almost 97% sure I told you not to bring anything home for me.” The brunette shook her head a little, nose wrinkled up at him. “I only accept pens.”
