So I married that boy I accidentally emailed a year and a half ago. 6 months later we are very much happy and learning all the time how to best do life together. Getting married has helped me learn a lot about so many different things. Including myself. Not only is my husband great but he is also coeliac so I plan to use my tumblr for gluten free recipes, pictures and anything else that pops up :)
My 21st birthday party. Everyone (almost) that I love in the same room. I will remember it with much excitement.
Then I went for coffee with two of my besties and got treated to dinner and the lion king with Phil.

God reveals what He needs to when He needs to. We can only know as much as He wants us to know. Sweet joy.
God knew, God allowed and God permitted.
Justification is an immediate gift. Peace. Assurance. No adding. No proving. No taking away. It’s a gift. The glory of the gospel. It is a perfect gift. You cannot be more or less justified. Your justification is assured forever because the object of your faith is in Christ. Your enjoyment may change. But the reality will never change. Justification is a permanent gift from God.

Crazy. Unexpected. Happy.
The last few weeks have taken a crazy unexpected turn of events. I have went from disliking work and moving back home to enjoying work and enjoying Scotland again.
When I was saying to my friend about my discontent with where I was supposed to be she said that if she were me she’d go with what her heart and instincts were telling her. Because to date my instincts have been pretty awesome.
Rather than it being my instincts it’s just me following the path God has laid out for me.
But when I said out loud I wanted to come home. A little niggle in the back of my mind said no. I really wanted to just pack in Scotland and leave but coming to the decision never gave me the peace and confirmation from God that I need before making such a life altering decision.
I decided to stay here happily until February and then re-evaluate.
Little did I know everything was about to change as I arranged a trip to the cinema with about 18 or 19 of my friends.
Then I went on my youth weekend away. It was a great weekend of good teaching, good chats and good banter. I decided I could not leave my friends. Not yet, anyway.
It also provided opportunity to chat to a guy who I had also invited to the cinema, unknowingly via his email address. Not his number. To say I was embarrassed was something of an understatement. This particular guy ended up asking me out for dinner, buying a motorbike and becoming my boyfriend.
And that’s what you call a crazy and unexpected turn of events which have as a result caused me to be a very happy person.
God moves in ways I do not understand. I asked Him to make it clear what my future held and where it was to be held and He answered that prayer in a way I always hoped but never ever thought possible.
‘With man, this is impossible but with Christ all things are possible.’
Yesterday.
Yesterday was a good day for many reasons (Glasgow Science Centre, Gustos and other such fun).
Whilst eating some pepperoni pizza in a really pretty restaurant I was asked what made me want to become a nurse.
This took me back a few years to when I went to Canada and spent time with my great auntie before she passed away.
There was a moment.
It involved food, my auntie who couldn’t eat anything and really quite a rude nurse.
I know, I know. Classic 16 year old thinks she can change the world. This is how I felt though.
I decided at that moment that I was going to be the difference. That I was going to be the nurse who treated all relatives and patients with love and patience. I was going to have a smile on my face, despite how I feel. I was going to be the change.
However, now that I’m in the world of nursing. I am not being different, I am not being the change I want to see in healthcare.
Granted, I get good feedback from my patients and their families.
Still, I could do more. Many times I’ve been tempted to give up, walk away and find somewhere with lovely staff who nurse the way I always imagined.
But who is being the change? The difference?
God has blessed me with a job and the heart and ability to care. It’s only right that I stay where He has placed me. And work until He tells me to move on. In the meantime, I’m going to pray that I will be the difference, be the change. I can only do this with reliance and faith in God.
May I never lose the wonder. The wonder of the cross.
Prayer is more than a devotional practice; prayer is the work of ministry.
He knows best.
I do not know why it surprises me every time things go well. When I was 100% unsettled and didn’t know what to so or where to go I prayed like Daniel that God would show me where I am meant to be. And allow me to be content in my decision. Guess what? He did. ‘He works in mysterious ways’ is a quote from the Bible which is said often and sometimes with very little meaning behind it.
It is so true. When you think you have everything figured out and are fine with that. He comes along at the most random of times, in the most random of ways and gives you 100% more than you could ask or think.
God is a good God. Romans 8v28. He does all things for His glory. Not for ours. Philippians 4v7,8. He gives the peace that passes all understanding so that we are at peace and can have joy, real joy.
Thankful.
Thinking out loud
God says wait. He says to be courageous. We are to have faith. We are to never give up.
Who am I praying for?
Who have I given up on?
Who do I fail to think about regularly?
Everyone else I used to know. Should I still pray for them? Well obviously. God doesn’t just care about my family and friends. He wants to save. Save even people I don’t know. Should I pray for people I see in the street? Do I believe that I serve such an awesome God who can answer my prayer to save someone I randomly walk past? Do I believe God is as mighty to save as I so much love to sing? How can I be skeptical of the Creator of the universe? God is all-powerful. God is all-knowing. God is all-there. He is incredible.
Why should I have ‘prayer time?’ Shouldn’t I be in constant conversation with my Maker? What if I talked to God like I desire to talk to my husband? What if my thoughts were prayers? Would I still think the thoughts I think? Would I be more bold to testify to Your incredible goodness? Would I be less likely to back out of opportunities that He has given me? I want a heart of prayer! I want to be a prayer warrior. Let me be diligent. Be faithful. Be patient. Let me never stop praying for people, for opportunities. Let me never forget His wonder! I want to serve Him. I want to be on His mission! Whether once and if I begin Bible College. Whether I stay at Liberton. Whether in Northern Ireland or in Scotland. Wherever I am there are lost people. Open my eyes to the urgency. Give me an enormous conviction for the people who don’t know you.
Give me an enthusiasm for Your people.
Change the hearts of the church. We wonder why Scotland is how it is. But what are we doing to stop it? We have as a generation given up on the power of prayer. We have become self reliant. We need to rely on The Lord. To believe in Him. Really believe in Him. And everything You can do for us and with us.
September weekend
This is my FOURTH September weekend which is 100% crazy! Peter Grainger is doing a study on (don't laugh) Peter. I'm looking forward to a weekend where it's routine to have time with God. Tonight we're having a campfire. I love campfires. I hope we sing. I remember after my granny died I was at my youth weekend back home. I didn't deal very well with my granny's death. I was one of these people that kept asking why? I felt like I needed my granny. Like I couldn't possibly keep being the person I was without her. Then at this weekend it all hit me like a tonne of bricks. God took granny away. That was okay. She's Home now. In Glory. Where she always longed to be. And so I realised how silly I was for ever doubting that it was okay for her to die (almost 7 years later I still sometimes still wish she was here). Anyway, at the campfire on the Saturday night I reflected out loud on how I felt about granny's illness and her death. I thought 'with God all things are possible' so I thought granny was going to get better. But God's better and my better were two different types of better. I'm thankful for a godly and prayerful granny growing up. I'm thankful that because Jesus saved her she is at true and real rest.
Well, this is a true quote. No matter where I go in life. Half my heart will be at home. Half my heart will be in Scotland. Quite a blessing really.
