“I remember crying over you and I don’t mean a couple of tears and I’m blue. I’m talking about collapsing and screaming at the moon.”
— The Avett Brothers, Tear Down the House (via hplyrikz)
PSA
You can still be sick even if you’re eating normally. Even if you’re eating more than what is recommended for your weight.
If you eat a healthy amount but still wake up every day thinking “today is the day I’m going to start starving again” you’re still sick. If you think in calories and fat content you’re still sick. If you hate your body and idealize being underweight, you’re still sick.
Restriction is a symptom, not the sickness. You’re still valid and deserve help.
“After a traumatic experience, the human system of self-preservation seems to go onto permanent alert, as if the danger might return at any moment.”
— Judith Lewis Herman

“Mental pain is less dramatic than physical pain, but it is more common and also more hard to bear. The frequent attempt to conceal mental pain increases the burden: it is easier to say “My tooth is aching” than to say “My heart is broken.””
— C.S. Lewis
