Yeah, it was unlike the Prussian to look down. He shouldn’t cry, it was what the Kings of his nations taught him. That a prussian man didn’t cry, that he shouldn’t be emotional like this. But could you blame him ? Probably not - but he’s still gonna beat himself up over this.
“ N-nothing.. “ He still denied it, whimpering when Canada put a hand on his shoulder. It was an obvious lie, but he needed to comfort himself too. He wiped his tears, staring at his knees. “ I-I just..felt a little lonely.. “ It felt dumb. He shouldn’t feel lonely.
He didn’t exactly know what to do. He wasn’t the best at comforting others, even if his overly polite and ‘soft’ exterior says otherwise. The Canadian was never someone’s first choice to go to for comfort until now that is. His best friend had now walked into the room, obviously feeling upset, and he didn’t know what to do. Thank God Kuma was asleep right now.
“Is there... something else that’s bothering you?” He asked, still not very sure on what to do.
Perhaps he could make some pancakes for him. The idea that Prussia would start to adopt borderline unhealthy habits like America didn’t concern him, he knew that his friend was responsible. But that raised the question if he was in the mood for some. What else could he do then? Listen to Prussia venting? But what if he then says something wrong in an attempt to be helpful-
No! He was bound to mess up with that thinking! He’ll just try his best...

A list of body language phrases.
I’ve included a very comprehensive list, organized by the type of body movement, hand and arm movements, facial expressions etc. In some cases, a phrase fits more than one heading, so it may appear twice. Possible emotions are given after each BL phrase unless the emotion is indicated within the phrase. (They are underlined for emphasis, not due to a hyperlink.)
Note: I’ve included a few body postures and body conditions as they are non-verbal testimony to the character’s physical condition.

Prussians don't cry. He could hear it ringing in his ears as he wiped away the few tears in his eyes, ripping the door open loud enough to announce his presence, but for one he didn't start yelling, like he usually would. He just ignores Canada, closing the door behind him and sitting down on the ground, hugging his legs. He felt dumb. But he was lonely and he wouldn't admit that. So he was just gonna sit here and try not to cry.
Canada immediately turned to look over to his door, noticing the familiar Prussian walking in, but something quickly alerted him. It wasn’t just that he didn’t scream to announce his presence - his friend knew that the Canadian himself didn’t like so much loud noise - it was the fact that he seemed… down for some reason. He knew that nobody can be so happy all the time, but it still felt really off. He made his way over to him and sat down, placing a comforting hand on his friend’s shoulder.
“Hey… what’s wrong?” He asked, his voice still as soft and quiet as ever with a hint of concern to flavour it.
Headcanon: America, at some point, tried to knit ugly Christmas sweaters for the nations. Needless to say, he never touched a ball of yarn after that.

📊 - How does your muse feel about the state of the world? Could it be better? Could it be worse?
He’s kind of… neutral. Maybe leaning towards ‘It could be better’. There’s definitely a lot of things, in his opinion, that are wonderful thanks to progression (e.g not as many straight-up wars as far as he knows, science and technology growing, etc…) and it’s going great. But there’s also the fair share of issues (he knows, his nation is near the USA) that need to be solved ASAP. this makes him feel incredibly sad
In general: The world’s pretty gucci but, mostly, some people need to get their shit together
I’m sorry for the OOC posts rn but i must ask since I’ve learned that this is an issue, when do you think one should cut off a post? I was thinking maybe at least two paragraphs in but I wanna make sure if it’ll be easier for mobile users

Canada, you're so useless. It's no wonder you can't speak up. How do you expect yourself to ever do anything right, when all you do is whisper to yourself? Noone can or wants to hear you. I bet Prussia just pities you. You're so annoying and useless, no wonder noone acknowledges you.
Please destroy my kids via anon // Accepting
Canada was… quite taken aback by this comment. He didn’t know how to respond, at all. He should just… fight back, he wasn’t useless, or annoying… or either for that matter! … But the words wouldn’t come out. He didn’t know what to say to this at all. Did… Prussia really just pity him? No, that was false. He had other things to worry about other than him. He’s just gotta… convince this person.
“U…uhm… but…” He tried to think of something to say that would prove the stranger’s points otherwise, but nothing came.
Were they right? He was doing exactly what they said he’d do. He didn’t speak up, all he did was whisper things to himself. He couldn’t even confront his allies when they did something wrong or upset him somehow. But that couldn’t be synonymous with useless. It wasn’t synonymous with useless. It just… can’t be! And he was sure of it! He’ll prove it by giving them a piece of his mind!
“Well… it’s… good to be so quiet! Because… you don’t bother so many people?” Oh what the hell was that?
He… really didn’t know what to say. He had no smart comeback, no ‘actually-’ to help back his point up. Were they… right? No, he was just… tired. Maybe he could go make some pancakes, those always helped lift his mood, and it’s something he could do. It was fine, it was fine for him to be quiet, it was fine for him to be incredibly forgettable and unoriginal.
It was all perfectly fine.
Quick note, I’m going to be resizing my icons bc I thought my previous ones were too big
Making your angst hurt: the power of lighthearted scenes.
I’m incredibly disappointed with the trend in stories (especially ‘edgy’ YA novels) to bombard the reader with traumatic situations, angry characters, and relationship drama without ever first giving them a reason to root for a better future. As a reader…
I might care that the main siblings are fighting if they had first been shown to have at least one happy, healthy conversation.
I might cry and rage with the protagonist if I knew they actually had the capacity to laugh and smile and be happy.
I might be hit by heavy and dark situations if there was some notion that it was possible for this world to have light and hope and joy to begin with.
Writers seem to forget that their reader’s eyes adjust to the dark. If you want to give your reader a truly bleak situation in a continually dim setting, you have to put them in pitch blackness. But if you just shine a light first, the sudden change makes the contrast appear substantial.
Show your readers what light means to your character before taking it away. Let the reader bond with the characters in their happy moments before (and in between) tearing them apart. Give readers a future to root for by putting sparks of that future into the past and the present. Make your character’s tears and anger mean something.
Not only will this give your dark and emotional scenes more impact, but it says something that we as humans desperately, desperately need to hear.
Books with light amidst the darkness tell us that while things are hard and hurt, that we’re still allowed to breathe and hope and live and even laugh within the darkness.
We as humans need to hear this more often, because acting it out is the only way we stop from suffocating long enough to make a difference.
So write angst, and darkness, and gritty, painful stories, full of treacherous morally grey characters if you want to. But don’t forget to turn the light on occasionally.
Support Bryn’s ability to provide writing advice by reading their debut novel, an upbeat fantasy about a bloodthirsty siren fighting to return home while avoiding the lure of a suspiciously friendly and eccentric pirate captain!

“Well I mean... you just YELL so much! It’s hard to believe that you’re capable of being so quiet!” America said, slinging his arm around Prussia casually, as if he’s know the guy for his entire life.
In all honesty, America himself wasn’t so better with volume control. Even his indoor voice was loud for indoors standard, but as if that’s going him at all! Besides, he didn’t scream that much. He was just loud! Meanwhile, this good ex-nation seemed to have always announced his presence with some heavy death worth of yelling.
“Are you sure your vocal cords are fine? I mean, I always notice that you’re yelling like you’ve gotten hyped up from a soccer game or something!”
