k but my mom bought me red jelly belly pillows and they don’t even remotely match my room and i love them so much,,,

“I kind of get sharks, but you are scared of fish and dolphins?”

‘ well, fine, like, the weird stuff -- dolphins are kind of weird, though. like, in their actions and stuff. and some fish are scary. ’

“It’s kind of about finding something or someone special when the world feels like hell,” he explained before humming a little to the melody he had just been singing.

‘ i like it. it has an actual message, not just a catchy tune -- ’ she paused then, before speaking. ‘ though it is catchy. ’

“What’s in the ocean that scares you?”

‘ ...is everything an acceptable answer? well -- most things. ’

**ash.

“Not many. I only just got inspired to write it last night,” he explained as he moved for her to sit next to him. “Be my guest.”

she nodded, sitting herself next to him. ‘ so -- what’s it about? ’

‘ how much of the lyrics have you gotten down so far? ’ she moved to sit down next to him before pausing, gesturing at the spot. ‘ can i sit? ’

‘ this is like, the exact reason i hate the ocean. ’

‘ you can rest easy and avoid rivers if it’ll make you feel more comfortable. i doubt those fish have developed the ability to leave the rivers. do you know what kind of rivers they tend to stay in, anyway? i doubt they’re even that big of threat, if i’m being honest. ’

‘ well -- the amazon, but still. scary. there is a big monster fish that lives in florida that has developed gills and lungs, and can move on land for up to thirteen hours, or three ays, as long as it’s moist. ’

“Oh yeah, I think I know what show you’re talking about. I forgot the name of the fish but it lives in the Amazon, right?”

‘ yep! it’s called the vampire fish. that’s terrifying. ’

“I won’t lie. That… that sounds terrifying.”

‘ it is. extremely. i never want to go in a river again. ’

“ if i have ever unknowingly taken the primetime diner for granted, heaven knows i am extremely sorry and i won’t ever do it again because pancakes after a stressful test day is basically enough to lift my spirits all over again. ”

‘ pancakes are always enough to lift my spirits, honestly. even when my spirits are already, like, moderately high. ’
