“Be Free”

Think I’ve finally figured out why “be free” was such a touching line so here’s my poor attempt at articulating it:

When Beatrice said “be free” to Ava, for a second I wasn’t sure if she was saying it to Ava as she left the realm that trapped her body and soul with paralysis and responsibility too great for anyone, or was she, perhaps, saying it to herself too.

Ava and Beatrice were both trapped in their reality. Ava was physically restricted yet her mind was full of life. Beatrice was mobile, active, deft might even be an understatement, but her mind a guarded labyrinth. In a way, they are polar opposites.

Beatrice did not become a nun because she was religious. She WAS religious, but that was not what led her to devote her life to the church. As Beatrice put it herself, “pain is what made [her] a sister warrior”. The pain that drove her to become a well-trained and restrained warrior stemmed from a sense of guilt that she could not erase. She may have distanced herself from, or even cut ties with her family, but it came from within, a deep-rooted belief that she did not deserve anything other than a life-long repentance.

But Ava knew what it was like to be trapped. She knew what it was like to be unable to live, and I mean LIVE, not exist. They were polar opposites, they were exactly the same.

So it’s only natural for Beatrice to say “be free” because she truly loved Ava and knew she deserved to be, even if that meant she had to let her go. And when Ava said “I love you” to Beatrice, it meant the same thing.

Above all things, I want you to be free.

I think that’s a notion beyond love.

Babysitting Josh:

Chris, Tanner and Robbie are good but too chaotic. The platonic duo have a total of 1 braincell when they are together, and Robbie has bad reputation since he set a car on fire.

Jessie is often busy, but is a good option.

Gordo might be grumpy and kind of a dick, but he is SO gentle with the baby. He is not their first choice, but everyones hearts tremble when he is holding Josh.

They absolutely love their pack and definitely trust them with their baby, but if they had to choose someone to babysit Josh, their first options are Ox, Elizabeth Mark and Kelly.

Chill, responsible and sorta rational group.

Probably the best option is to place the baby with pairs that are mates, they usually complement each other so well.

Gordo is a good dad figure, teaches the kid things (like he did with Gavin, Ox and Robbie), while Mark is really supportive, shows physical affection without shame and gives good advice.

Ox is the chill one, he more or less knows what to do with a baby, meanwhile Joe gives more of a chaotic vibe, he insists on taking the baby on little adventures (a walk to the forest, the park…)

Joe is the type of guy that gets too involved in role play games, so Ox tries to keep an eye on him and Josh when they are playing together.

Chris and Tanner joins them once in a while, they love it.

Remember how Robbie reacted when Kelly caught a cold? He has definitely almost had a panic attack when baby-human-Josh got sick while on his watch. That’s why Kelly has made him promise he won’t call Rico and Bambi without someone’s supervision.

They both enjoy reading stories to the little boy.

Carter is the overprotective one, he won’t let the baby out of his sight whenever Rico asks him to take care of him. Kind of a paranoid mom since Joe got taken :c

Gavin doesn’t really care xD. He just lets the baby be, he knows there isn’t anything that will hurt him really bad so he just sits on a rock while Carter panics cuz Josh just fell down on the grass and got a tiny scratch.

Rico and Bambi are glad they can rely on the pack. Sometimes they need some time for their own you know?

Baby Josh’s first word was dear/deer.

They don’t know if he was influenced by every time they scream “deer” before turning into wolves and begin chasing the animal.

Or by every time they refer to each other as “dear”, mostly Elizabeth.

Anyhow, they are all so proud of him and start calling him deer/dear boy.
