how did it feel winning the world cup with the united states?

“it was so cool that our three years of work paid off. that doesn’t always happen for everyone and i do feel kind of lucky, but we put the right work in to win. to see that work pay off was really cool.”

what was the most interesting or random thing you did in france?

“i wanted to see the eiffel tower, obviously, but i didn’t want to walk. i don’t call them scooters; i call them leg savers. we took a leg saver and went around the eiffel tower. instead of it taking an hour, it probably took 15 minutes on the leg savers.”

did you watch the win against the orlando pride on july 14?

“i watched the game against orlando. there were so many goals and i thought to myself, ‘this is a great game for tv.’ i wish i was there. seeing everyone that excited made me have fomo and i want to be out there playing.”

what was your first job?

“i was a junior in high school and i wanted a job to buy clothes, so i worked at this place called picture show. it was a one-dollar movie theatre. i ripped up the tickets, cleaned the garbage and made the popcorn. after the last movie, we would hook up fifa to the big screen and play video games. it was pretty cool.”

“lindsey horan seeks and sometimes doesn’t get my dance lessons, but when she deserves it i’m willing to show her a few moves. your role sometimes has to change to be the best teammate and i feel like i did that pretty well. it is exhausting putting smiles on people’s faces.”
