If the boy were to voice that he didn’t want a quirk stripped away from someone, he would merely point out that he would have done it anyways and given it to someone else. He had a feeling that the other wouldn’t want a poor soul to become quirkless, and him take it.
“True, but I feel like you CAN give in, and embrace it,” he replied calmly. He was doing better than he thought he was. Earlier he thought he would grow impatient that the student didn’t accept his offer, and slit his throat with the knife he keeps hitched to his leg… But no, he was being quite patient! Sensei would be so proud… The thought made him smile softly. But it quickly vanished.
“I could kill you, or take your quirk. Strip away something important to you,” he replied, giving off a shrug. “But basically– yes. In fact, since you have been… pleasant, if you deny me, I will let you choose– you can die, or live quirkless. You’d lose your tail and I would gain one..” Ah, the big question. He cupped his own chin with his fingers and thought on it for a moment. Not because he didn’t know it, but because he was trying to figure out how to word it.
“To bring down the hero system,” he finally said. “Tear it down, and make a new one. Where EVERYONE can live better, rather than the villains getting the short end of the stick,” he finally said. “There will still be heroes. But they will only get paid on what donations they get from the people. We will rid of the hero rank system and pay for them. Heroes will be treated like ordinary people. Heroes can only capture a ‘villain’ if they are caught in the act. Don’t catch them? You lose. Villain punishments will be less severe. Something like stealing will be a slap on the wrist, while murder would be service. Prisons are less used. And for more than one reason. People PAY for villains to stay at the prisons and health care and food and all that. Using them less? People will save money,” he prattled.
“Also we will make it certain that less people die from starvation and are homeless. Provide more homes and give food to people…” It sounded like a good deed. He didn’t want anyone to go through what he went through.
at the thought of losing his tail, he’ll swish it, in time with the closing & opening of tight fists & his ragged breathing. --- training for hours on end is easier than this, at least one is usually willing to inflict that sort of strain on themselves --- ! he really doesn’t want to think about somebody becoming quirkless, though, if it’s for someone like himself. ( but if the quirk is already taken before meeting him, won’t that have nothing to do with him ? )
❝ bring down the hero system, ❞ he repeats, somewhat dumbly. a moment of gaping --- then a resignation settles in him. heroes will still be around, can only capture villains as the crime is being committed ? he doesn’t agree with the lessening of punishments, but that is kept to himself. no time to be discussing the morality of their situation. but too much of it sounds... implausible, but at least the dream isn’t something like destroying society as a whole, or bringing about general chaos.
❝ you’re saying that to someone who willingly enrolled in the system, ❞ but the words said in monotone. because his experience is tainted with what he has done. another shift of his body, restless & doing his best to think about what to do.
❝ but I don’t disagree. ❞ not quite an agreement, he’s obviously leaning towards a yes. & what’s the worst that can happen ? everyone finds out, or he dies ? really, if his life is given a little longer, he’ll take it --- but not so quickly, slow down.
