I voted because someone i love comes from a line of immigrants.
I voted because someone i love is in danger of having everything that generations before have worked so hard to create and protect stripped from them at the hands of someone who is full of nothing but hatred. A group of people who never have anything good to say about communities that do not align with their values and their values alone.
I voted because it’s not just about me.
I voted for change, and i voted most importantly for safety and security.
I want to live my own life, I don’t want to go back, i want the systems that were created to keep the lower class and marginalized communities at the bottom to be reformed. I am tired of fearing everyday the hatred of a group of people who are so selfish they have lost the vision of the one thing they constantly recite, the one person they praise and worship. They say his name as if they walk in the shoes he once did.
Yet, when they speak of the prostitute, when they speak of the weak and blind, when they speak of the poor, they only see them as less than. But from what i can recall, he looked at those people as his brothers and sisters, he called to them with nothing but love and light. As an ex-christian i can see through the bullshit they hide behind because they are scared of losing power. They don’t want a level playing field, they will force all to bow to the will of the white man, as if he was ever a white man to begin with. They are raping the birth place of their holy father and claiming it is simply just war. I am sick. Stop lying, stop pretending you are similar to him when in reality you are closer to the devils form of love.
There is a key difference between us: you idolize a symbol of greed, hatred and harm. While as yes i vote for one, i can see the failure, and i will continue to let them know where they have failed until my throat runs dry. I do not trust a politician as far as i can throw them, i will continue to fight for what i believe is right and point out the blatant hypocrisy in one. While i cast my vote one way i will critique the two- party system, and that whomst i am casting my ballot towards.
I voted because i love you. I may not know you, you may disagree with me, you may find me repulsive, but i voted because you are my sibling, we are one and the same when our time comes.
I vote because i believe in change, and i vote because it is my right and duty to serve all who have come before me, and to protect who shall come after me.
I voted because i want a future where everyone has a fair chance of living the life THEY want. Not what i believe everyone should want.
I voted for the right to choose, i voted for equality across the board.
I voted for a brighter future.
I voted for those who can’t.
I voted because i am scared of what might happen to myself, and to people i love.
