" very hard to believe when a schedule has been in place for weeks in advance. " she rolls her eyes as he steps to the side to make said calls. " fei, if he disappoints you again, it's your fault.    “   with   the   way   the   oceans   are   polluted   ,   i   might   have   to   start   doing   that   so   they   have   properly   clean   water   to   live   in   .   ”   nova   only   softly   laughed   and   put   the   small   box   back   inside   her   own   bag   while   shaking   her   head   .   “   how   did   he   even   do   such   a   thing   ?   ”   she   almost   felt   the   need   to   knock   on   wood   at   the   mention   of   several   ways   of   acquiring   bad   luck   ,   always   the   superstitious   one   (   which   one   could   blame   watching   way   too   many   episodes   of   sabrina   the   teenage   witch   in   one   go   growing   up   )   .   “   okay   ,   now   you're   making   me   feel   like   this   is   actually   a   curse   ,   not   a   blessing   .   ”

game   continues   without   her,   sent   to   a   personal   penalty   box   made   for   a   sport   that   doesn't   even   have   it,   just   because   she   smacked   the   person   up   front   with   the   volleyball.   twice.   okay,   and   she   got   her   shin   on   the   last   round.   it   wasn't   her   fault   though!   she   can't   control   where   the   wind   takes   the   ball!   she   also   can't   control   what   direction   it   decides   to   go   to   after   she   spikes   it!   sighs   underneath   her   breath   at   the   unfairness.   voice   beside   her   makes   her   head   turn,   not   catching   the   first   question,   already   in   the   middle   of   a   conversation.   “   oh,   cool,   thanks!   ”   she   would   never   say   no   to   free   anything.   twists   the   cap   off   the   balm   to   do   a   sniff   test.   some   mango   scents   are   disgusting   and   not   juicy   like   they   should   be!   “   mmm,   nah,   i'm   sure   it's   fine!   ”   has   half   the   mind   to   ask   if   they   can   share   the   pass.   “   'cause,   actually,   when   i   was   in   middle   school   i   used   to   love   making   fake   facebooks   of   celebrities   and   beefing   with   people.   now   that's   real   identity   fraud!   ”

   “   any   time   ,   babe   .   ”   her   brows   furrowed   before   nova   had   the   chance   to   stop   .   not   like   she   ever   managed   to   hide   her   true   feelings   ,   but   this   once   the   confusion   mixed   with   surprise   pehaps   came   out   a   little   too   strong   .   and   maybe   ,   just   maybe   ,   it   looked   a   little   judgy   ,   even   if   it   wasn't   and   she   simply   wanted   to   understand   how   that   was   possible   .   “   you   fought   people   online   because   you   wanted   to   ?   ”   even   if   doing   it   as   someone   else   and   dealing   with   no   real   repercussion   ,   the   idea   of   having   any   sort   of   confrontation   for   fun   made   zero   sense   inside   nova's   brain   .   “   why   ?!   ”

   “   oh   ,   no   .   ”   nova's   dark   eyes   widened   in   realisation   .   it   really   did   sound   like   she   was   asking   to   be   promoted   by   the   other   .   “   no   ,   no   ,   that's   not   what   this   is   .   i   really   was   just   offering   .   you   do   not   have   to   post   me   or   it   or   anything   .   ”   she   was   about   to   comment   on   the   pass   and   the   whole   situation   ,   but   her   attention   shifted   entirely   when   giuliana   mentioned   having   a   question   to   ask   her   .   “   oooo   -   kay   ?!   ”   it   sounded   a   lot   more   like   a   question   than   an   invitation   to   proceed   ,   perhaps   because   curiosity   was   the   predominant   feeling   in   her   .   what   could   she   possibly   have   to   ask   ?   and   for   a   friend   too   .
