sup wolf?, i got a question for ya, what's it like smoking a cigar?
'I don't smoke cigars, man. I smoke the cheapest cigarettes I can get.'
"Yo, Wolf. How's it going? Been a while."
'…yo.'
'…what d'ya want?'
Fox tilted his head in curiosity, it seemed that it was alright! Maybe.. At least Wolf didn’t flinch or pass out or anything like that. Fox just stared at his drink, gulped quietly as he took a grip on in.
”.. I’m not sure if you’re serious or if that was a metaphor.” He scratched his head. He already had fur on his chest! And fluffy fur it was, would it make it more fluffy? He wondered.
He moved the drink closer to his lips, he was nervous to taste it, but this was to show that he could take it! He took a big sip on it, tasting the sake in his mouth before he swallowed. Which he hoped he didn’t have to do.. The burning sensation in his mouth felt unbearable!
Fox placed his drink on the table and laid against his hands. “T-That was something!” He grumbled and muttered. “I’ll feel that even in the next week.. My throat is on fire..”
His voice trembled, his whole body trembled! How was he going to get out of this bar and fly back to the Great Fox? Too much alcohol for the newbie, he was definitely going to have a hangover tomorrow. His head was being all tipsy and funny feeling after couple drinks! Curse his inexperience! He just wished he would’ve ordered a cider rather than that poison drink. All that rum and cola was coming up too! Shouldn’t have drank it so fast..
Wolf looked at the vulpine incredulously. He can't be drunk yet...is he pretending?
'Uhh...'
This encounter got stranger and stranger by the minute. The pirate wasn't sure how to handle himself in this situation; no one he'd ever gone drinking with had been gone after two drinks. Deciding the best course of action was to remain silent, he leant back on his stool and sipped what remained of his bourbon and coke, watching Fox make a fool of himself.
"Yo, Wolf. How's it going? Been a while."
'…yo.'
'…what d'ya want?'
The lupine shrugged. That some kinda cocktail?
'I dunno what a 'sacky' is. That's what you want, you get it. Long as yer still payin' for 'em.'
'Might have'ta ask the bartender 'bout 'em. I dunno if they'd serve 'em here.'
Fox cleared his throat. This went better than expected! Smirking slightly at Wolf.
"Oh? You don’t know what Sake is? It’s kinda like rice wine. Uh, it’s made from wine and the people who made it call it rice wine for some reason."
Fox tapped the bar’s table, leaning toward the bartender and asking if they had any sake, it was quite expensive, but at least he gets to taste some.
It didn’t take that long till they had cups of white, murky looking drinks in front of them, Fox turned at Wolf and smirked. “You taste first. Alright?”
'Awright...' Wolf shrugged and set his glass of bourbon aside, taking up the sake. It was in an oddly shaped cup, small and rounded, able to be held in three fingers. He sniffed it; it smelt strong, smoky and resiny and with the distinctive bite of alcohol.
'Cheers.' He tilted his glass toward Fox and took a gulp of the drink, wincing slightly as it burned a path down his throat.
Not unpleasant, somewhat reminiscent of vodka. He cocked his head toward the younger man, chewing on the inside of his cheek as he regarded him.
'Iunno if yer gonna like it. S'gonna put hairs on yer chest, at the very least.'
"Yo, Wolf. How's it going? Been a while."
'…yo.'
'…what d'ya want?'
"W-Wait.. What? Me? Order a drink?" He laughed quietly.. Awkwardly.. He didn’t know any drinks! Crap.. What to do. "Right, I’ll think about it.. Alright?" He smirked at Wolf cheesily, trying to hide his lie.
"Right, uh.. Well, what’re you up to? Got any ..Work? I do hope that ain’t any shady stuff! That’d suck if you got even worse reputation than you already have! What about your team? Who’s in that nowadays anyways?" He shrugged and took another sip from his drink. He wasn’t usually a drinker, so he wasn’t sure how much he could drink alcohol.. Little sips, little sips..
"Right.. You’re not going to answer me that easily.. Figures." He muttered quietly, biting his thumb as he thought for a moment. “Why’d you suggest something like that? You know I ain’t gonna become a murderer!” He hmhed quietly.
"Uh.. I’ve never really drank cider.. Erm." He cleared his throat. ”Sake! I’ve never tasted sake.. ! I want to taste some of that! If that’s alright to ya?”
The lupine shrugged. That some kinda cocktail?
'I dunno what a 'sacky' is. That's what you want, you get it. Long as yer still payin' for 'em.'
'Might have'ta ask the bartender 'bout 'em. I dunno if they'd serve 'em here.'
"Yo, Wolf. How's it going? Been a while."
'…yo.'
'…what d'ya want?'
Wolf didn’t answer. He just stared at Fox with a grin on his face, leaning against the bar lazily. He could see the redness lying underneath the vulpine’s fur, colouring his cheeks and ears. This was too easy…
He shot two fingers up at the bartender, who diligently retrieved their glasses and replaced them with two more, full of the same dark liquor. The mercenary rolled the drink in his hand, waiting for a reaction from the younger man.
Sighed loudly, he could feel the lupine’s eyes on him, it was embarrassing enough! God damn these white furred cheeks! Made his embarrassment stand out so easily. He could only curse, muttering and grumbling quietly.
Soon his ears perked as a drink was placed in front of him, with the same drink he had just drank! He eyed Wolf, lifting a brow.
"Uh.. Same one? You don’t want to.. Try something else?" He asked, rather disappointed, on the other hand, this could have been something much worse. Fox toyed with his drink and this time, he started slow, taking a small sip from his drink.
'You can order the next round. Get us what you wanna drink.' Wolf was drawling, lazing back in his seat and sipping his drink, the sweet bitter liquid rolling around his tongue a few times before sliding down his throat.
His head fell against his shoulder and he grunted, settling into a comfortable position.
'Aren't you gonna ask who I'm workin' for? What I've got planned?' He grinned toothily; Fox had already established his intention (or supposed intention) and there was no use prodding to try to get him to confess. That's not to say it wasn't fun. The young vulpine was just so easy to get a reaction out of.
'Well I ain't tellin' you NOTHIN'. You'll have to kill me before I speak a word 'bout my esteemed colleagues. Y'hear me?'
Nothing wrong with a bit of teasin'...
"Yo, Wolf. How's it going? Been a while."
'…yo.'
'…what d'ya want?'
”ey, yer the one flexin’ his muscles. Don’t that make you the musclebrain?’
'Or maybe yer just tryin'a impress me…'
"…" He gulped and shook his head. “I ain’t full of muscles! I bet you hit the gym all the time!”
"Impress you? W-Why would I want to do that? Huh?" He grumbled and hmphed. ” You’re such a weirdo, Wolf. Well, tell me, why’d I want to impress someone like you with muscles that don’t exist?”
Wolf didn't answer. He just stared at Fox with a grin on his face, leaning against the bar lazily. He could see the redness lying underneath the vulpine's fur, colouring his cheeks and ears. This was too easy...

'…what d'ya want?'
'…'
'That right.'
It was more than he could have hoped for. Imagine the story he’d have to tell! Fox McCloud, hero of the Lylat Wars, struggling to down a bourbon and flexing his scrawny little arms at Wolf for no apparent reason. He was enjoying himself so much, in fact, he thought he might lean forward and press his advantage, poke a little more fun at the poor man.
'Did yer muscles not wanna come out with ya either?' He peered intently at the vulpine, searching for the hidden muscles.
'Y'don't look very buff t’me.’ The lupine poked Fox in the chest. ‘No pecs. Prolly no abs either.’
"…"
He shook his head, things were turning from bad to worse! Oh, now he wished he would have asked Falco to come drink with him instead.. too late for that now! Fox gulped and slightly leaned back as the Lupine leaned towards him.
"M-My .. Muscles? Uh, what are you doing?" He lifted a brow, his cheeks reddening. "Could you please stop that!?"
He let out a faint growl, glaring at Wolf. “Grh! So what? Being a musclebrain like you just makes me less agile! You’re just raw power when it comes to hand-to-hand combat!” He crossed his arms and smirked slightly.
He slowly moved his hand to poke the lupine back! He did want to make sure that the lupine had some muscle and wasn’t just teasing for no reason!
''ey, yer the one flexin' his muscles. Don't that make you the musclebrain?'
'Or maybe yer just tryin'a impress me...'
"Yo, Wolf. How's it going? Been a while."
'…yo.'
'…what d'ya want?'
Rolled his eyes and tapped his fingers against his empty glass, slowly turned to look at Wolf. “So uh.. Gonna order something more? Or just leave after one drink?” He muttered quietly, he rested against his hands to try to cover up his embarrassment, which most likely didn’t work. His ears flattened against his head as he heard the older male chuckle. Fox shot a glare at Wolf. “What’re ya laughing at?”
He sighed and now was tapping his fingers against the table, he took a long breath and sighed loudly before turning to face the Wolf who… Looked amused. Surprising!
Crap.. His cover was blown, his ears flattened once again against his head. “Uh, no.. That’s because no one really wants to go with me to any bars!” A lie, Falco had asked him before but he had refused. “Uh.. I don’t do mostly anything! Just working out and trying to stay buff!” He flexed his muscles what he had, he couldn’t afford that someone found out about his secret. Eating and watching television on his free time wasn’t really something that anyone would expect him to do all day. Oh why do I have to suck at lying!? Fox thought. He could feel some cold sweat running on his forehead.
'...'
'That right.'
It was more than he could have hoped for. Imagine the story he'd have to tell! Fox McCloud, hero of the Lylat Wars, struggling to down a bourbon and flexing his scrawny little arms at Wolf for no apparent reason. He felt nervous, gulping slightly. “I am! I didn’t say I was taking another one right away, did I?” He grumbled and leaned his head to rest against his hand. He took another sip from the drink. Almost done, and it didn’t help to feel the Lupine stare at him as he drank.
He sighed quietly and slowly turned to look at Wolf. He wasn’t sure if he’s going to regret this in the morning, hangover didn’t sound like a nice way to start his morning, thankfully he didn’t have to do any client’s dirty jobs for them anytime soon. Fox shook his head once again, taking a last, long gulp on the drink, placing the now empty glass on the table.
"Oh? Uh.. Getting my mind outta jobs, you know? They aren’t all that nice and easy as you may think it might be for us, the great Starfox team." He shrugged and leaned against both of his hands, letting out a deep sigh. “I just wanted to get my mind out of everything, sorry I dragged you with me.. I know you’re not in the best.. Terms with me, but you’re the only one who I could have guessed that goes to some bars or some shit like that.”
God, this was embarrassing.
Seeing the young mercenary flushing and fidgeting, looking too small for his bar stool and clutching his drink with both hands, Wolf found himself relaxing. It was amusing, in a simple way: he downed the rest of his drink and chuckled quietly for a moment, laughing at the poor uncomfortable Fox sitting next to him, trying desperately to seem adult while admitting himself a novice. It wasn't harsh laughter, or mocking, just simple throaty chuckles of amusement and good humour, a broad grin spreading across the lupine's muzzle.
'Awhh, gawd.' He shook his head, resting an elbow on the bar and turning to face Fox with his whole body, openly engaging the younger man now. Despite how awkward the vulpine looked, the tension in the air was beginning to subside. Not exactly friendly, but not wrought with animosity. At the very least, it was beginning to resemble a somewhat amiable conversation.
'Y'never go to bars, do ya? What d'you do fer fun? Between missions, groundside? Do ya stay on the ship all day, eh?'
lets-rock-n-roll replied to your post:Do you crack your knuckles, like as a habit?
…I can crack my neck.
'Prove it!'
Yes Lovely You
'...'
'S'an original compliment. Never been called "lovely" before. Thanks, I guess.'
"Yo, Wolf. How's it going? Been a while."
'…yo.'
'…what d'ya want?'
Fox cleared his throat and shook his head: He glared at the lupine who was laughing at him, as if things weren’t embarrassing enough, at least no one in the bar stared at him.. He though and let out a small sigh in relief.
He tilted his glass and sighed quietly once again. “Is that so? Like I said! I don’t drink much.. Never really had bourbon and coke mix… Mostly since Peppy doesn’t allow us to drink in the Great Fox!” He said as an excuse, this time he took a small sip on his drink, nope, not any better, but he’d deal with it.
"Petal? Uh, I don’t know, and I ain’t taking a glass of milk, thank you very much." He let out a small growl, he wasn’t amused by this one bit!
"I’ll take anything you’ll take. And this time, I’ll take it easy, don’t you worry, as if you’d worry about me in the first place, but whatever."
Wolf smiled toothily, his tail swishing idly behind him, curling around the leg of the stool.
'How 'boutcha focus on finishin' yer first drink before ya go askin' for seconds, big man.' He leaned forward on his elbows, propping himself up on the bar with his head tilted to continue looking at Fox.
He was still suspicious; who wouldn't be? A supposed rival invites him out for a drink, doesn't suggest a venue, speaks erratically and can barely stomach a glass of bourbon. Despite being certain he could handle his booze better than the other man could, Wolf took care not to drink too quickly. He would need his wits about him if this turned into some sort of trap.
For now, he flicked his ears towards the vulpine, regarding him with half-interest.
'What're y'doin' on this side'a Corneria?'
Lovely
'Me?'
Do you crack your knuckles, like as a habit?
'Don't think so. Dengar used to do it all the time, would shit me to tears. But just 'bout everythin' he did shit me.'
"Yo, Wolf. How's it going? Been a while."
'…yo.'
'…what d'ya want?'
Fox lifted a brow as the drinks arrived, it looked somewhat.. Strong alcohol. He didn’t really know if he should drink it, or look like a pussy in front of the lupine, which he didn’t want. He took his drink and downed most of it that he could. Too weird, too strong! He started coughing, his mouth felt like burning, maybe it wasn’t the best idea.
"U-Uh, erm, I swallowed it in some weird way? Ahaha." Great, nice lie, Fox, like anyone would take that seriously.
He cleared his throat, trying to bear with the burning sensation in his mouth, Wolf seemed to have no problem with the drink.. Guess he was heavy drinker? Or enjoyed heavier drinks than Fox, who usually went with ciders if he had to drink something. ”Mind me.. Asking what was that? And true, it’s nice to know people don’t really know you, too much attention and some.. Shit like that. Ain’t fun, usually they want to cause trouble to you.”
"I-I ain’t stiff!" No wait, that came out wrong.. "You know what I mean, I am pretty comfortable already. No need to worry about me!"
Wolf stared at the vulpine for a moment before letting out a few throaty chuckles, shaking his head in minor disbelief at the flushed, awkward man sitting next to him. It was in stark contrast to the hot-headed, sharp-tongued Fox McCloud he knew from the skies.
'It's a bourbon and coke, pup. Don't try to scull it.' An amused smirk lingered on his face for a while as he nursed his drink, idly swirling the glass in his hand to make the cubes of ice clink against the sides. Invites me out for a drink 'n can't even fucken' swallow the stuff? Gawd.
'Y'want somethin' else, petal? A daiquiri? Maybe a nice glass of milk?'
△ What do you look for in a guy?
'Uhh...I couldn't tell ya. Honestly don't know. I've never like--y'know, gone lookin' or whatever. Ahaha.'
'Iunno. Helps if he's good lookin', I guess.'
'That's like, a four or somethin'.'
△ What's your biggest regret?
'…'
'...wasn't home when it happened. I coulda done somethin', or somethin'...iunno.'
'...eight.'
