You had to be kidding him. Andrew thought. He was in this city for a day. one day! And the weather already screwed him over. This was rediculous, utterly rediculous. He walked around to see the paintings, heâd already seen. Perhaps he could make a little game for it - which paintings heâd buy, which paintings heâd throw in the trash and which paintings would manage to get into his bedroom. âYeah that one clearly is garbage.â He snickered because the piece was in fact - a bottle of laundry stain remover. âDavid Edgar huh?â It didnât suit his taste.
Meredith was generally a sunshine and bright day type of person, but growing up in New York she had been used to its sporadic gloomy weather, including winds, heavy snow, and thunderstorms. This, though, was definitely one of the worst she ever witnessed and the fact that she was trapped outside and not at home under a cozy blanket watching the blanket of snow from her window really irked her. She was looking at some of the paintings when the man next to her pointed out that it was clearly garbage, which Meredith definitely agreed to but never wanted to say aloud because she respected art, but that does not mean she would always like them. Meredith laughed a little, âI honestly donât understand what he message he is trying to deliver. What do you think?â
âIf I saw half-nude woman posing with skis and snowboards in front of a chalet or cabin Iâd be likely to pick up the magazine,â Beau answered as a small smirk spread across his lips. Beau didnât read, but he loved pretty woman and admiring them, and if that was being advertised to him in a magazine, he would take a look at the picture and what was being advertised to him. It didnât have to make sense to sell. âIt doesnât make sense, but advertisement donât usually make sense. Like during Christmas time Cola usually have Santa in their adverts. Santa doesnât even exist, but it sells. Itâs more about marketing strategies and not being realistic,â the brunette shrugged. âI get where your coming from, but most advertisements do that.â
âOf course you would, which is why I think youâll find a Victoriaâs Secret catalogue more interesting than Vogue,â she replied, a small coy smile on her lips. Meredith could not help but laugh at the example he was giving, âSee, but Santa is generally regarded as a Christmas mascot. Even if heâs not real, it still makes a lot of sense to advertise something on Christmas with Santa Claus,â Meredith began to explain her reasoning. âThe problem is, my division does not even handle the advertisement part of the magazine and they are trying to publish something wintry in spring which makes much less sense than a Santa Claus ad around the holidays,â she exhaled. âI swear sometimes it feels like Iâm working with people who think putting together a scrapbook â just throwing a bunch of pictures in there to make it look pretty.â
Elena knew what it was like working for a company or occupation that you loved and worked so hard to get into, for Elena it was being a Intern at FBI, crimes had always fascinated her as a kid and so when she got that foot in the door no one could even come close to estimating how ecstatic she was; âI mean personally no one needs to know itâs a âAprilâ Issue, you can just print a different month and people will believe itâ knowing people would believe anything these days; âThough I do get that, what is it that you do again?â
âThatâs not how it works with Vogue, unfortunately, there are people subscribing monthly so I think they will notice if we print the wrong month,â Meredith chuckled a little. âI am a fashion news editor at Vogue. I basically oversee the fashion news on every issue, including the articles and layouts and all that,â she said, trying to sound casual but Meredith did feel a sense of pride when people asked what she does; itâs not about the position, more like the way she finally landed the job.
Working for Vogue was her dream. But there are times when Meredith just wanted to throw her phone at the wall wondering why it is called common sense when it seems like none of her coworkers have them. âWeâre not a Victoriaâs Secret catalogue. If I see another pitch deck filled with half-nude women posing with skis or a snowboard in front of a chalet, I will burn the entire thing down,â she said. âItâs going to be a Spring issue for Godâs sake, itâs not even going to snow in America anymore.â Meredith ended the phone call abruptly, not being able to take anymore of that, especially during the weekend when she was supposed to be having a relaxing weekend. âHonestly, I get that people are excited to go on holiday in Aspen for New Yearâs but how does pitching a winter-themed photoshoot for an April issue make any sense?â She rambled to the person next to her.

meredith johanna frost was six years old when she was finally adopted by jeremy and addison frost after jumping from foster homes to foster homes since she was three months old. jeremy and addison found out they were unable to have a child after two years of marriage.
although her parents had adopted an older sibling, meredith had always felt like she was an outsider. her parents are both world renown surgeons in the new york-presbyterian hospital ââ her father was a neurosurgeon and her mother a pediatric surgeon ââ and her adoptive sibling also grew up to become a surgeon. when she was ten, meredithâs parents finally had a successful ivf attempt after failing it twice before. they had a younger baby sister, madeleine frost, who meredith loved so much, but her baby sisterâs presence made her feel even more like an outsider.
meredith also never found out the reason why real parents had left her in foster care. she remembered being bullied by some of the siblings she had lived with; she remembered the awful living situations of some of the foster homes she was put in. although she was little, her earliest memory was of a time when she could not eat dinner for two days because her foster parents were also taking care of five other foster kids.
although jeremy and addison have tried their best to show her love and care, meredith still had abandonment issues. after all, her parents were both surgeons who had to work long hours at the hospital and they had madeleine who, in meredithâs mind, is the true child they had been waiting for.
so in turn, meredith tried to become the daughter they could be proud of; always excelling in school, joining clubs, winning competitions at school, and even becoming head cheerleader and prom queen at one point. she was the it girl back in high school and college. you might say, it is an overcompensation for not feeling like she was the favourite child at home.
they supported her when she wanted to study journalism and fashion. she is the only one in the family who had any expertise with fashion, journalism, and the world of social media and public relations.Â
when she was sixteen, meredith had a boyfriend. his name was benjamin cross, and they had dated all through high school and college. two years after their college graduation, benjamin had plans to propose, unfortunately he was killed in an accident and it broke her heart to pieces. now, she has a hard time dating anyone and it worsened her abandonment issues.
she had always tried to compensate by being quite the sociable person; always trying to please others and finding as many friends as she could. she is also loyal and sometimes could become attached quite quickly to friends and acquaintances, but when it comes to relationships, she has trust issues and would often push drive her boyfriend away first in fear of being abandoned.
she was not exactly manipulative, but meredith would always step up to take charge so that she would not be excluded of any plans her friends are making or any work project.Â
