The Arts Are Alive & Well

I think the most dangerous thing we can ask a young person who’s aspiring to be in the arts is, “What’s your backup plan?” By responding to someone’s dream with a question of concern, we feed the false illusion of a non-existent creative industry. It is our job to uplift, celebrate, and cultivate the young artists to come. There has and always will be room for the talented, hard-working people who follow their dreams. Our response instead needs to be, “I can’t wait to see what you do.”

Christmas Mashup in the Christmas Live Lounge - Bastille Merry Christmas everyone! Thinkin Bout You (cover) - Alexandra Adolph My best friend, Alexandra (totheseashore), covered Thinkin Bout You by Frank Ocean at a spring thing for my school using a loop station and her lovely voice and it is absolutely incredible, so you should spend 3 minutes and 41 seconds watching it because it is definitely worth your time. It’ll change your life, man. And it will also probably make you feel bad about yourself (just kidding teehee). She is crazy talented and for sure is going places. If you don't know, a loop station is a machine that basically you press a pedal or a button and it records whatever you sing or play into a microphone and then loops it (meaning it plays it over and over on a loop), and then you just keep layering on top of it so that it's like there's multiple people singing at once, but really it's just a live recording of yourself.
