City Mermaid, polaroid emulsion collage on top of cyanotype, 2026 by Mel of Hello Magnolia Photography.
These mini but mighty works of art are printed on ultra thick, 350 gsm fine art paper and measure approximately 3.5 by 5 inches. Available in either the original finish or a vibrant red wash version.
Cyanotypes are created using a photosensitive mixture, in collaboration with the sun, this process cannot be rushed. Mel sticks to using natural sunlight, over the use of UV lamps. This process preference, combined with living in the Pacific Northwest, encourages experimentation and results in curated, ever-changing collections of seasonal pieces.
Part perzine, part recipe book, and part silly goosery, featuring talented artists from across the world. Originally inspired by my dad, a down to earth fella from Long Island, along with the meteoric explosion of the tinned fish trends on social media. You'll find all sorts of fish-centric fun, playlists, recipe ideas, comics, and word puzzles!
