El túnel del amor
He was an activist who inspired millions to fight for their rights. He knew what was wrong with our country and risked his life to help his people achieve equality. In the society where black were treated like animal he did everything possible to change this. His brave soul, his will and courage changed the history of America , changed the people. He made us believe we can win this war. He payed for it with his life. He will always be remembered.
this should be reblogged everyday just so people can know that black rage is always justified. always.
The thing that I hate about atheism as a movement is that it doesn’t just want to critique the hegemony of Western Christianity, it wants to kill spirituality. There is no joy, there is nothing about it that isn’t founded in a pessimism that sees itself as so self-important that it cannot exist outside of destruction. The face of atheism is a white male disgruntled ex-Christian who decided that if he can’t find joy in religion, then nobody else can. There’s a leftover missionary sensibility to “enlighten” people to atheism that exposes itself as racist, antisemitic, and islamophobic, that’s ultimately not unlike the dominance exerted through colonial Christianity
I hate how people insist we need to “save the bees” by eating more honey.
We need to save them by planting more flowers and not killing off the environment so we can leave them to their own devices.
We ruined the ecosystem and you can’t expect me to believe that more consumption is the answer.
Honey is not vegan, it doesn’t save the bees or the environment. Free bees, protect plants and stop interfering!
Also honeybees aren’t even from here and can’t pollinate all native species support Natitve bees and bee habitats
Pollinators aren’t always honey producing, remember, honey isn’t the answer
Eating more honey CAN be a part of saving the bees. Not the entire solution, but why are we shaming people for participating in part of the solution? As for your previous points: 1) Just because you’re eating honey doesn’t mean you’re not also planting native flowers and grains. 2) If you’re “keeping” bees in order to help increase your local bee population you HAVE to clear out the honey every so often. Not eating/using the honey is just wasteful. 3) Not everyone is or can be vegan. There are many reasons why a person cannot be a vegan. Medically, religiously, financially etc. 4) Also, where is “here”? Are you assuming everyone is from where you are? Or are you saying bees are from space? Either way, you’re wrong and in some places honeybees are native. 5) Some pollinators are honey producing, remember, honey is part of the answer.
No, eating honey can’t be part of the solution to saving the bees, because it’s part of the problem.
Beekeepers are contributing to the decline of native pollinators, which are way more important than a single non-native specie of bee.
“Managed honey bee colonies supplement the work of natural wild pollinators, not the other way around. In a study of 41 different crop systems worldwide, honeybees only increased yield in 14 percent of the crops. Who did all the pollination? Native bees and other insects.”
Apis mellifera, the only specie kept by beekeepers for making honey, isn’t a native specie to the American continent, but even where it is native it’s not supposed to be everywhere and in such great numbers. The result of their introduction is the decline of the pollinators already here, which are often better pollinators and are able to pollinate every plants in the ecosystem they are in, which is not the case of apis mellifera.
From a study in Australia : “In contrast, native bees were more than three times more abundant at the few sites where honeybees were absent, compared to those where they were present.”
From a study in Israel : “The results provide partial evidence for behavioral competition between honeybees and native bees. For this reason, we recommend prohibiting introduction of beehives to all nature reserves in Israel, as a precaution aimed at protecting the native bee fauna. This may help conserve their contribution to biodiversity and pollination of common and rare native plants as well as crops.”
From a study in California : “This pattern suggests that B. occidentalis colonies exposed to competition with Apis experienced increased nectar scarcity and responded by reallocating foragers from pollen to nectar collection, resulting in lowered rates of larval production. These results provide evidence that Apis competitively suppresses a native social bee known to be an important pollinator, with the potential for cascading effects on native plant communities.”
The introduction of apis mellifera is also causing other species of pollinators to get diseases. While beekeepers try to protect their hives from it, the native pollinators aren’t protected at all.
“Diseases that are common in managed honeybee colonies are now widespread in the UK’s wild bumblebees […] Our results suggest that emerging diseases, spread from managed bees, may be an important cause of wild bee decline.”
Native species already suffer from pesticides and habitat loss and you’re only aggravating the situation by buying honey.
Apis mellifera isn’t an endangered specie of bee, and it shouldn’t even exist in a lot of places. Native pollinators, on the other hand, such as the thousands of other bee species, are the one in actual danger of extinction, and some of them are already believed to be extinct.
What could i do then to actually help all the pollinators? - Well first not buying honey, since it’s contributing to their decline - Stop eating meat, dairy and eggs, since it requires much more crops in order to produce animal products, which result in much more habitat loss - Buying organic as much as possible (if possible) for food requiring pollination - Planting flowers good for pollinators - Creating homes for pollinators, such as solitary bees
Never once heard it said in my conbio classes that buying honey would save bees, let alone endangered native bee species. This move to “save” bees by purchasing honey is a purely corporate, capitalistic theme. Businesses are preying on the blight of bees by trying to convince the public of something that is completely false.
The honey industry (and yes, it is a massive industry) doesn’t actually care about biodiversity or conservation, or they would be focusing on preserving habitat for wild bees, not exploiting non-native domestic bees for their honey.

“Kindness begins with the understanding that we all struggle.”
Charles Glassman (via naturaekos)
In any relationship, there will be frightening spells in which your feelings of love seem to dry up. And when that happens you must remember that the essence of a marriage is that it is a covenant, a commitment, a promise of future love. So what do you do? You do acts of love, despite your lack of feeling. You may not feel tender, sympathetic, and eager to please, but in your actions you must be tender, understanding, forgiving, and helpful. And, if you do that, as time goes on you will not only get through the dry spells, but they will become less frequent and deep, and you will become more constant in your feelings. This is what can happen if you decide to love.
