firstsentiantromâ:
At first, the little ROM was in confused disbelief. The more the hacker explained themselves, though, the more Turing understood. No wonder they were so secretive. The entire world was against them just for taking up the mantle of TOMCAT, and they were alone in that struggle.
Or, at least, they used to be.
âItâs strange.â Turing sighed âI understand the impact of losing family all too well, and yet I still donât know how to respond. How does one respond to that kind of pain?â Turing sat down on the bed, placing their hand on the hackerâs before giving them a comforting smile âIf you donât mind, however, I think Iâm going to stick to calling you âTOMCATâ. In my opinion, youâve more than earned such a monikerâŠ..Catherine would be proud of youâŠâ
âHeh...you know what, I think those are some great things to say, Turing.â TOMCAT replied as a small smile broke through their distanced expression. âHer beinâ proud is all I hope. I sure feel like we knocked Parallax on their behinds enough to do that.â Hell, not just Parallax, the whole world. Maybe TOMCAT hadnât been the mind behind the original Parallax hack, but they had certainly accomplished something. Not alone, of course. But they felt like they had some ground to stand on now.
They cleared their throat. âWhew, well then. I sure am feelinâ lighter.â TOMCAT said, not one for showing their vulnerable side for too long. âSorry for bringinâ all this depressinâ talk into your paintinâ time.â
