You most certainly may. I love words. There are just so many of them, and none of them are quite the same. Even synonyms have different connotations and tone to them. Retail would be the worst job to have, especially in the city. Like, no. I wouldnāt want to deal with the people that go into stores and complain or get angry when they canāt return an item they didnāt like or wore once and then thought they could get their money back for. Seems like youāve got it fairly easy then. Or at least that the people you wait on are easygoing people.
Being an optimist is so much better than being a pessimist. Itās much better to be positive than to look at the negative side of things all the time. Youāll do fine, and if you need help practicing, I could always help you. I have a friend who is a great dancer, as well, and if you need help with dancing and all that, I bet we could possibly convince him to help.Ā
I've heard some horror stories from people working in the service industry too though. So it's not justĀ retail that gets a bad rap. But, comparatively, it does sound like I've got a really nice place I work for.
It IS! I can't imagine why anyone would wantĀ to dwell on the worst possible outcomes... You can spend your time dreading that worst outcome and be pleased that it doesn't happen, but you spent all that time litterally dreading and expecting to have a bad time... muchĀ better to anticipate and enjoy a good experience but have to roll with the punches, so to speak, when things go awry. There's always a way to make do.
Oh, well, I don't want to impose, but I'm always good for more practice and help. I'd love to meet your friend.

That sounds about right, especially in a city like New York. Lousy customers would probably be number one, although those three might all just tie for the top spot of reasons jobs suck.

I have heard soĀ many horror stories about working retail, especially in the city, as you said, but I've never once had a customer I couldn't handle. Even if the kitchen gets their order wrong, or IĀ get their order wrong... I've always been able to talk to them, work something out, so they still leave happy.
I like to think that I am, yes. An optimist, that is. It's... very flattering that you think the other though, thank you. Choreography and accents aren't my forte (well, except for British) but I'm always practicing, always learning. Always strive to do my best to be my best.

Yes, I'm quite fortunate. I've heard more friends than I'd care to mention complain about their jobs, be it because of bad management, poor pay, lousy customers... I'm just happy I'm happy.

Yes, you all heard correctly, I am off to audition for an upcoming show. I did a lot of thinking and with the help of my amazing friends, I know Iām ready. If it wasnāt for the faith you all had in me, I donāt know if I would be ready. Fear not, New Directions Iāll be back tomorrow night after my audition. I do love my job. It's fun; it gets me out, and the customers we have are always friendly. It's not what I want to do for the rest of my life, but I'm happy it's what I'm doing for now.
Exactly! I'll have my role some day, and the harder I have to work to get it, the bigger an accomplishment it will be once it's here. You'll get through your schooling too, in time, just study hard and turn in your homework, the rest will follow naturally.
