🏚 - A memory about exploration.
It was the first time Asteroid would be away from home for days. Months, even. It was part of a modeling program, where they would be learning and traveling.
The modeling part was okay, something Asteroid stopped caring about around, 2 or 3 years ago. However, Bright Star had high hopes. She knew one day she would buy thousands of magazines with Asteroid on the cover, or perhaps a recording of a show they would be at. They always shrugged it off. Let her dream.
Travelling, in other hand....
Ever since they were a child, they were curious about what is like to travel. Be away from your old life and see new places, meet new people. They were happy to be taking this chance. It was an opportunity to have one of their biggest wishes to come true, without their mom getting in the way! Even if it meant they would need to endure boring modelling stuff.
The bus was going to arrive in the hotel soon, so Asteroid took the chance to try to call their mom real quick. After trying twice and failing, Bright Star ended sending a message, saying that she was feeling sick. Asteroid send a message back, telling her to get well soon and call for help if needed.
They couldn't message more, though. The bus finally arrived and they had to leave. But the feeling when they walked out, carrying their backpack and looking at the hotel.. something they couldn't describe. It was what freedom tasted like, even if it was temporary.
Traveling is really an amazing thing that they couldn't have enough of.

Jove nervously fiddles with her hands for a moment before she grabs and gently tugs on Asteroid's hand.
“Oh, Jove! Hello.” Asteroid looked down to the smaller Bomber. They weren’t busy with messenger stuff right now - then again, if they were, they would be running around to grab things or get their ship ready to go; right now they were about to go chill a little.
Asteroid knelt down, so they could look to Jove in the face. As well because they a little taller than her and this could get in the way of her charades. “What’s in your mind, friend?”
Jove was glad that she caught Asteroid during their down-time, last thing she wanted to do was interrupt them during their work. When Asteroid knelt down, Jove readied herself for a small bit of charades.
She pointed to the side of Asteroid’s head, right at the ‘ear’ of their head. She then moved her left hand back and started to poke that hand with her right hand. After that short bit of charades, then started to fiddle with her hands again, looking at Asteroid.
Watching over her charade, Asteroid placed a hand upon their chin and was quiet in thought. The big key was their hat, the 'ear' part, to be clear. They didn't needed much time to take any conclusions.
"Oh, you wanna hold my hat?" They asked, pointing to one of the sides of the accessory. The messenger didn't mind her holding it at all! They love this hat, it's so warm and cozy, of course she could hold it or pat it. But again, because of their height, they would need to adjust themself for Jove's comfort.
Asteroid got up a bit so they could sit down on the floor and patted their lap, allowing her to come over. "Hop on, unless you want me to take it off for you. Either is fine by me."

{messaging-asteroid} "Uh, Lunar?" Asteroid walked closer, hiding their hands behind their back. "May I talk to you?"
‘‘Hm? Is somethin’ up, Asteroid?’’
Although Lunar was about to go look for a new engine for the ship, he could take a moment to speak with Asteroid. It was widely more important to take time and listen to his adopted child, the engine could wait a little bit.
lunar-bomber:
‘‘Asteroid… T-that’s…very nice of ya…’‘
The moon bomber took the gift in one hand, unwrapping it with the other. A beautiful scarf with a moon pattern. He wore the scarf proudly, smiling with his eyes. He was never going to take this off, that’s for sure.
‘‘Ya didn’t have to but… thank ya so much! I really appreciate it. This scarf…I…I love it!’‘
Lunar actually teared up a little, upon hearing the last sentence they spoke, as well. If he still wanted them? Of course he did! He loved them with every fiber of his being, regardless of what happened. He took a few steps forward, pulling Asteroid into a strong hug.
‘‘Hey… Nothing in the world could ever change this. As long as ya’ still want me to be ya’ dad… I will be! I’ll do my best to be there for ya’… whenever somethin’ happens. Ya’ mean so much to me… never forget that.’‘
Asteroid smiled internally when they saw that Lunar had enjoyed the scarf. The money they saved up for it and the trip they had to make to get it while Lunar was asleep had been really worth it. "I uh, made a new friend who is a tailor. He's the one who made the scarf."
And then they were pulled into a hug, which they quickly returned. The stuff Lunar said actually got them emotional. Sure, Bright Star did try to be nice and say stuff like that too, but it always felt like she was trying to make up for her drunk incidents. Lunar, however, said it from the bottom of his heart, or so they feel it was.
They didn't wanted to tear up now, but it escaped from under their glasses a little. It was just too much joy now. "D... Dad.." Asteroid felt their voice shakey, they could barely think about what they're saying. "I.... I love you. I hope you never regret adopting me."

"I'm okay, it's just.." Sigh.
Asteroid didn't knew why they got so nervous around Lunar. If it was any other Space Bomber, they would have said what they wanted and it would be all good. Inside, they kinda knew why. Because they wanted a dad, and now they got one, they're terrified of messing up with Lunar like they did with Bright Star.
Taking a deep breath, they revealed their hands, holding a tiny box, decorated with yellow wrapped paper. Inside the box, a special gift they commissioned to a new friend they made in social media: a scarf with moon patterns.
"I bought this for you. Just... something nice, to make up for losing the engine." Pause, they started to tremble a little. "A-And for.. Adopting me.. If you still want me."
