Sunday drawer challenge: Bathroom We have no proper medicine cabinet, so I've had to be creative. Normally stuff is shoved in the hall closet, but I've put the frequently used items here. Also: I'd like a classier way to store mouthwash and fluoride rinses. I'll see what Pinterest has.
So many Sunday challenges
Just finished cleaning up the living room, which includes filing and shredding mail. Kitchen and dining room clean too for the most part. Now trying to get up the energy for a challenge since I have the time.
I wanted to have our dining room table cleaned off and a family command center ready for the new school year.
Husband and I finally admitted to each other that I should handle paperwork. I set up the shredder near my favorite and have started getting rid of stuff. Also figuring out a mutually agreeable filing system.
Unfucked my coffee table.
I'm fixated on the pretty bowl of candy.

Q: I just started a new job where I’m working twice as many hours as I’m used to, and my schedule is all over the place (some days, some nights, a random day off in the middle of the week instead of a weekend). My routines are...
I seriously have a problem with collecting containers--boxes, jars, tins, fabric bags ... My brain is always thinking that I can use them again. To be fair with myself, I frequently do. I used to do a ton of swaps that required boxes for mailing. I like using fun boxes for gifts. I use old jars for food storage in the kitchen. I use tins to hold office supplies. My daughter needed a shoe box for a school project--which I had. But as I am facing the office, I'm ending up recycling a ton of empty boxes. It's really ridiculous. I also realize that I will frequently purchase something for the packaging. Not doing this from the get-go is going to take some effort.
This week, we’re going to be chipping away at the projects/areas we’ve been avoiding. Whatever it is that first comes to mind that you really don’t want to do around the house (crafting supplies! the garage! that box of junk mail you never got around to shredding!), that’s what you’re working on...
I pulled a few more things out of the office. Yay!
The ongoing saga of trying to get rid of stuff that I inherited and thought I wanted but now I don't:
I've started using VarageSale, which is a little like a vetted Craigslist, and I actually made a sale. We did the exchange in a gas station down the street from me, which is weird and a little sordid for moving along a glass apple bowl. I'll be posting more, but I doubt I'll have many bites.
I contacted Replacements, Ltd. to sell antique teacups, teapots, etc., but it seems they are not buying right now. I'm trying to avoid eBay and/or a garage sale, but it seems like that's my best bet.
I did, however, give one of my great-grandmother's teapots to one of my colleagues who I know will actually use it to serve tea. This makes me infinitely happy.
I also had the idea to bring a teapot and one of the tea cups to work and make myself a proper pot and drink from a proper cup each day. The Husband declared this quaint and suggested knitting a cozy (he knows me too well!). Not only will this meet my don't-keep-things-for-just-best cause, it gave me an excuse to finally use my Adagio coupon.
Unfucking the kitchen, part 2 The hooded figure at the end of the counter is some kombucha the Husband is fermenting. All good citizens of Night Vale know that one does not acknowledge the presence of hooded figures.
After doing so well, we let the kitchen get pretty fucked up. Really, it's amazing the damage we can do in one evening if we don't keep up with it. Some days I really hate this grown up stuff. But one "Ask Me Another" podcast plus coming back after running the dishwasher, and part of the kitchen is unfucked. More to go, but I'm encouraged by the progress.
The Husband told me that he was determined to keep the sink free of dishes as possible.
This whole cleaning thing seems to be spreading.
I may have solved the hole in my bucket when we moved the broken computer desk out of the office.
This allowed me to get to the chest of drawers, which happens to have a lot of space for craft supplies.
This meant that I could fill up the old baby food jars that I had been saving with beads and stuff and place them in one of the drawers.
This meant that I could empty a box of said jars to use for business papers, as well as clearing off a shelf in the family room closet.
This meant that I have a clear shelf in the closet for stepping stone materials that were hanging out in my dining room.
This also meant that I could clear a bookshelf of craft supplies and tools that I can now fill with some of the books from when I unfucked my nightstand.
Sorcery.
I figured out that one episode of “Welcome to Night Vale” is about 20 minutes. Which means I can clean while listening, take a 10 minute break, and then listen to another episode while I clean. And so on into eternity.
The City Council should be pleased.
Not that I would ask. That’s madness.

If you like WTNV, you should check out the Beyond Belief segments from The Thrilling Adventure Hour. The regular episodes last around 20-30 minutes, and has a great supernatural/comedy feel to it.

Running an Etsy shop can be a little bit frustrating, especially when you’re dealing with glitter and that ish gets everywhere already. The other night I decided that my workspace needed a little unfucking.
The top is a partial before, as I had already started moving some of the finished dinosaurs on the right so I could actually move the table and properly sweep under them.
The two after photos probably still look a little crazy in the pictures, but I promise that everything has its own place!
In taking on this project, I now know exactly what is in the shop and what is not, which makes it easy to see that which colors I don’t have a lot of and which I don’t need to use for a while.
I’ve also found that I have a LOT of the tiny dudes unlisted, so I don’t have to make those for a while, which is good, they’re more frustrating to make!
Now it’s time to mess that table up again by glittering more thumbtacks and planters!!
This is inspiration for my Big Project. I'm always looking for examples of craft spaces that make sense.
