And here’s the main protagonist, her name is Krystal. Miyamoto: Is she a f-o-x? Employee: Why yes she i-- Billy-The-Intern: Oh wow! Mr. Miyamoto, what are you doing here? Miyamoto: Muoh! Muoh! Muoh! I’m always where I need to be little girl. Billy-The-Intern: But I’m a boy... Project Lead: Everyone close your workstations! Nintendo called! He escaped! Miyamoto: No worry Rare-san. I come with suggestions! Entire-Team: *unintelligible screaming* Employee: Re-Really Mr. Miyamoto, there’s no need. We have it under co-- Miyamoto: This game is now a Starfox game, it’s going to be on the Gamecube, the entire voice cast is fired, you have two years to start over, and Susan-The-Intern is the new project lead.

... Starfox Assault team circa 2004... Susan-The-Team-Lead: As you can see you can switch between characters. Miyamoto: That blue robot character. Who is that? Susan-The-Team-Lead: Falco? Miyamoto: No, the g-i-r-l... Team Starfox doesn’t have g-i-r-l-s. Susan-The-Team-Lead: That’s Krystal from Star Fox Adventures. Remember? Miyamoto: Star Fox what? Sometimes you don’t make any sense Billy. I’m going to go insist that New Super Mario Bros is made easy enough for even me to play in my old age. And when I get back, she better not be in the game. Susan-The-Team-Lead: As you wish sire...

And then Miyamoto climbed out the window and started stomping on pigeons yelling, “Wahooooo!”

Full offense but sometimes fandom just totally make up the characterization of a character and then complain when that isn’t canon

Sometimes fandom totally makes up a ship dynamic between two characters who have never breathed the same air/liked each other romantically in canon and then riot when the ship isn’t canon.

Sometimes fandom creates a character and writes stories/draws fanart of said character, shipping said character with the main character or making the fan character the focal point, and then RAGE when not only is their made up OTP not canon, but neither is their character.

Mod: Sometimes a professional writer takes an established character and writes fanfiction of said character. They change their personality, likes and dislikes, beliefs, values, and even their backstory. Many times negating any growth the character may have had in the course of their journey. And because the professional writer works for the company who now owns the rights to said franchise, this fanfiction is now the official canon. Old fans complain that this is not the same character they fell in love with. They explain this character would never do the things the fanfiction has described. And the professional writer says, “if you don’t agree with these changes, you’re the problem”
