Part 2 of last week’s article.
Last week I was comparing Canon Papyrus with Disbelief Papyrus and determined that it did a fine job keeping Papyrus canon to his canon self. Some liberties here and there but nothing really out of character. But let’s see how others fair.
Belief Papyrus
Undertale: Papyrus' Belief is a take on the Disbelief Version in game form. According to the Untertale AU Fanon Wiki, the goal is to make Papyrus more true to his original character by bringing out his more charismatic and optimistic personality from the game canon. The problem is, Disbelief Papyrus still has the belief in the Player that the canon one had. It's just that after seeing the Player kill everyone he knows and loves, it's hard to be charismatic. Another problem, it’s incomplete so we don’t really know how they would do their take.
Luckily Kass made an animation with what they had so far so let’s take a look. So instead of waiting for the Player in the Hallway, he jumps through a Glass. He JUST realized all the killing the Player has done and rushed all the way from home to here to reform the Player. But when you Genocide, he dodges comically. Kind of hard to say you’re trying to be more true to his character but not give him any sort of development. In the Genocide route, he spares you but doesn’t dodge. He knew what you did and still believes in you. This one wasn’t surprised you tried to kill him and decided to go with violence. Kind of hard to see how this is more canon...
He tries to be charismatic, but he is very egotistical. Papyrus is egotistical but being so after seeing the person slaughter everyone is kind of not in the fun way. He tries to believe in good, but it's so naive you wonder if this guy even understands the gravity of the situation. He apparently thinks his brother is alive despite the fact by now he would be dead. But he doesn’t have Karmic Retribution so it's better... Honestly, its like they tried to put Pacifist Papyrus in the Genocide Route, completely missing the point of the Disbelief AU. This is less a take on it and more “what if Pacifist Papyrus replaced Genocide Sans”.
And his special attack? A Gaster Blaster. The one thing that person was complaining about was a Gaster Blaster and the one they suggested being better was one with a Gaster Blaster. Overall, this one I feel kind of misses the point of Disbelief Papyrus and instead tries to bring a Pacifist Run version of him into the Genocide Route. The best part about it is the animation, so that’s a big plus.
Nihilism Papyrus
Undertale [Nihilism] Papyrus Fight! Is a fan game by Sirblueberrous. Apparently they are a bigot and have made racist jokes on Twitter. Still pretty bad but honestly better than what I thought it was (I didn’t want to believe they were a Reboot Freddy). But I am not here to judge their character, just their AU of a Character. Again, a game that is incomplete but hopefully this player can do a good job showing what this AU is like.
In Snowdin of all places, Papyrus stops the Player. He heard they were messing with the safety of the inhabitants and since he was the closest, plans to capture the Human. Basically what if Papyrus was more serious. It's honestly like the Belief Fight from before, but better. Since it's in Snowdin, he’s still very early so he hasn’t seen anything too bad in comparison to the previous two. He doesn’t seem to have the belief in the Player but still has a good heart. But he ain’t dumb and has a staff with him to help take the blows. But unlike Disbelief, he can still feel pain.
Gameplay wise, he has a gimmick where you can’t attack him until his staff turns Orange. And guess what this guy uses: a Gaster Blaster. If one of your complaints is Papyrus using a Gaster Blaster why are you suggesting two other ones being more true to Papyrus still having that? Granted, they were more like explosives than laser heads but still. And his Drastic Actions: Use the Dating book as a help to turn the Player into a friend. It ends with Sans saving Papyrus from a final blow and it ends there.
Honestly, this was more fun than Belief Papyrus. All my issues with that one are gone thanks to this taking place MUCH earlier than the Corridor.
So which is better?
Sorry Belief Papyrus, but I think you failed in your mission. Trying to be More Canon, you basically took the wrong canon into a different timeline. Because he saw all the actions prior, all his talk about believing is hollow as he seems more childish and naive in a situation like that. So that leaves Nihilism Papyrus and Disbelief Papyrus. Which one is more canon? Honesty, they are both pretty even. They took the basis of Papyrus and changed a few things to tell their story.
Disbelief is a Papyrus who has seen all the bad you have done and tries to no longer believe in you but still thinks you can change. Nihilism, despite the name, is a Papyrus who has no belief in you but has the Neutral Papyrus’ desires. And that eventually includes wanting to be your friend. This, and Belief Papyrus, is ultimately a choice to you. But for me I don’t see these two being better than Disbelief. Nihilism being as good, but not better.
((Time for a summary of a Scary Spaghetti you probably know))
Before Glitch, there was Newgrounds.
Rubber Ross as you know him was once RubberNInja on Newgrounds. While you may associate him with Egoraptor, he has done his own stuff. Besides Gameoverse, there was Gamer Tonight (a parody of talk shows) and the one I know him most for: There’s Something About Halo. That was a collaboration with other Animators to make a series of shorts about Halo. In 2009 on November 11, 2009 at youtube, he uploaded the first episode of Gameoverse. Sadly, he only made 4 episodes and combined probably isn’t in the same length as the Glitch Pilot. But is it worth watching? Let’s summarize it.
It begins with Gobbles the Learnosaurus and Flappers the Super Dolphin being randomly selected by The Great One (a giant number one) to save the Gameoverse from Klezdoom the Conqueror. To help them in his quest they are assigned with Kickflip McOllie to find Klezdoom and defeat him. Their first stop is Gobbles’ game. But in this series he’s embarrassed by being from an Education Game so he makes up a lie about being something else and pretending he doesn’t know anyone here. His old friends do find him familiar and before they can reveal the truth Flappers murders them.
They confront Klezdoom only to find out he’s actually named Klezdin who was told they were assassins from the future that came to stop him. Turns out Negative Zero and the Great One were working together to cause chaos throughout the Gameoverse and since our heroes know too much, they are sent into an MMO like game where Gobbles is the playable characters while Flappers and Kickflip are NPCs. And that’s where the series ends. There were promises of new episodes, but sadly they never came to be. It was likely around this time that he wanted to change Gameoverse into something different, so by the end of 2010 to who knows when, Ross worked on Gameoverse in the background.
I haven’t followed Ross in his non-animated work so I don’t know much about his time on Game Grumps or his own streams so I don’t know much about when he made these changes but I can see why. This version of Gameoverse was more comedic compared to the more action packed pilot. And some jokes definitely have aged poorly. But there are a lot of fun ideas that you probably will be seeing in Gameoverse under Glitch Productions. And next week, we’ll be taking a look at that.

Consider this a crossover with the Research Bin and Part two of yesterday’s story. (No Images)
Elder Flower told a lot of stories in the last episode and Izzy promised that while they don’t make sense now, they will tell the history of Equestria. So let’s take a look at them and see if we can figure out anything.
This reminds me of the tale when the raccoon bit the snake!
And this is all we get since Izzy knows the story and wanted to skip it. So honestly it could be anything. Like my first instinct was this was a variation of the Scorpion and the Frog but why would a raccoon want a snake’s help? I tried Google Searching but outside of raccoons being omnivores and them being the aggressors when this happens the closest thing I could find is some story about the Indian and the Snake because there’s a different story underneath that features a raccoon. So I doubt we could figure this out with one sentence.
I cannot believe that Pegasus! They're wearing a vintage Carousel Boutique hat! Do you know how hard those are to find?
Rarity had three stores and the Carousel Boutique was her first one from Ponyville. So before all the ponies split off, there was a pegasus who bought that hat, kept it in good condition for all these generations as it got passed on to the next in line. This is the kind of stuff we headcanon about Applejack’s hat.
Once, I attended a super fancy sparkly wedding, but all the ponies kept changing shapes, and I almost threw out my hip! Hah!
This one obviously implies about the Canterlot Wedding. Especially since in this very same episode we see a painting of Shining Armor. It could be a different wedding, but since we don’t know any other weddings fitting that description it’s safe to say this is likely it. But that makes you wonder, just how old is Elder Flower?
A long time ago, there was a magical bat named Dawn. She was surrounded by other bats like her. But one of the bats refused to get along with the others. This bat wanted to fly around and eat all the fruit for herself! So Dawn spoke to a spider, who wove a beautiful web to keep the mean greedy bat away. In the end, Dawn was able to protect their nest. Yet the greedy bat continues to this day to try to break the web! Which is why some bats eat fruit and some bats eat insects.
Dawn is likely representing Twilight. The other bats like her could be her fellow ponies or could be alicorns. While Celestia and Luna retired, Cadance and Flurry Heart should have been active on the scene still. The one bat who wanted to fly around and eat all the fruit herself is obviously Opaline and her desire to absorb all the magic. So that leaves the spider and the webs. Yesterday I thought the Together Tree was the Spider since Elder Flower’s last story talks about them specifically. So let’s hear that...
These trees are very powerful, created only when ponies come together through true friendship. Together Trees communicate and connect magically to each other through their roots underground. They are our great protectors, and we, in turn, must protect them.
So with this in mind, as well as what we do know, we could paint a better picture of the origin of G5. Twilight and her Fellow Ponies were enjoying life until Opaline showed up. She wanted power and tried to claim it for herself. So with the Magic of the Together Trees they created a barrier to keep Opaline away. And if Twilight planted the seeds herself to create this shield it would be all fine and dandy. But there’s one part of the story that makes me wonder about the Together Tree’s roles: which is why some bats eat fruits and some bats eat insects.
If fruits are magic, what’s the insects being referred to? Since people do like to confuse arachnids with bugs I bet they are connected to the spider. But that still leaves the question: what is the Spider? If it's not the Together Trees (considering they could be the web), what is responsible for planting them? It could be the dragons considering how focused she was to get them after seeing the failure of getting the lantern. But could it be anything else? And how did the dragons know of this, especially since they weren’t depicted as friendly until Ember’s rule.
So what if this time they know Spiders aren’t insects? That would make Opaline going after dragons make sense since removing the source of food would weaken the spider, or in this case give her the strength to break the barrier. So what was the Spider? This is headcanon territory but I have a feeling the answer is Zecora. She knows of magical plants so she would be the one most likely to clue Twilight in on the Together Tree. Not to mention Twilight does go to her from time to time asking for advice. So that’s my theory on this. Maybe more will be unlocked with further revisits and a look into the comics. But that’s for the future.
((Scary Spaghetti Twilight made the wrong enemies.))
Time for some Father/Daughter time...
Alphabittle is excited to be reunited with his daughter and Queen Haven totally hints about wanting to give Alphie another kid before leaving. But Misty soon realizes that he has memories that she doesn't. So Alphabittle hopes that spending the day will help unlock more of her memories. The others are happy because Misty definitely deserves all this. She gave up her chance to find her past to help Sparky and thanks to that generosity she got to do both. But as one book closes, another gets opened up as she tries to be the pony he remembers but has evolved so much. Think Rarity when trying to reconnect with Sweetie Belle.
Honestly, seeing Misty try to connect with her pops is great but there's the B-Plot. Zipp heard about Misty's game she played with Opaline which was less games and more plans to take over the world and Zipp wants answers now. But considering how bad the last two episodes were (and a montage of her asking about Opaline) it makes me think Zipp watched too many Simpsons episodes... Or episode in this case. Sunny suggests to just let Misty be for now and they can investigate on their own. And Izzy got an idea that could help with that.
Again, Alphabittle and Misty's connections are so cute. So cute Hitch convinces Pipp to leave the two alone instead of recording everything. But when Misty was given time to be alone in her old room, she reveals she's keeping up the act because she's not the little filly he once knew but doesn't want to upset him. Luckily unlike when she did it with her friends it wasn't to hide she's working for Opaline. This is just to try to get back their connections. So pretty much the majority of the episode on their end is Misty trying to fake it to make it the best day for her pops.
So I'm gonna skip those parts because that's the meat of this episode. In the B-Plot, Izzy introduces Sunny and Izzy to Elder Flower. She's the town's keeper of stories that have been passed down by generations. The thing is her stories don't make sense now but will over time. I'm interested in seeing how true that is. But Elder Flower wants something in return: to go to Zephyr Heights. She also implied she used to visit the place though later she’s excited to finally visit the place. So I’m guessing her excitement comes from stories of other ponies who visited said locations? Probably during that Festival they were supposed to have to keep the Unity Crystals charged.
Back with Misty, she finally couldn’t handle it anymore but luckily Jasper and Onyx were able to translate Misty’s 10 minutes of being a deer in the headlights so Alphabittle can understand not wanting to disappoint him despite being a completely different pony from when she was a child. Misty opened up and it's a really good scene. Honestly, if you have to see one episode I think this is the episode to see. Back with Elder Flower and her reference to a Canterlot Wedding, she sees the Hangar from the movie and tells the story about the past... As everyone is being renamed and being referred to as Bats.
Zipp, not remembering about Izzy’s thing, doesn’t see how closely it resembles Sunny’s story about Twilight, but she’s happy because Elder Flower did enjoy herself. But she did drop the info about the Together Tree and how important they are (I think they’re the spiders in her story). Also she’s a long distance ancestor to a Moondancer. Anyone we know? With Misty, she’s having a great time with Alphabittle but still doesn’t feel like she’s home. That’s when he makes a call to Sunny’s friends. Alpha is okay with her moving away. She is an adult after all.
So Misty is officially living in the Brighthouse when not spying on Opaline. Everyone unites and Elder Flower tells them all about the Together Tree. Overall, a great episode and shows Misty’s next step of character development: finding out who she is as a person. No more about who she was, now to see who she is. And it’ll be fun to analyze Elder Flower’s stories....
Pony Sprite of May 2026 - Tirek 2.0 and Jazz
After all these years I do think I became a better spriter. And this is an example of such. Tirek looks much better in my opinion: more accurate, better colors, better shading. He looks much better.
Added Jazz into the mix because I'll be needing her for a future Observational Wednesday.

Twitter Discourse at its finest...
So on Twitter, I find this image complaining about Disbelief Papyrus. All hype moments but no canon feats. Orange and using blasters he doesn't have. Using KR (Karmic Retribution), besides Phase 4 doesn't make sense for him, wearing a jacket that should have been dusted. And apparently reviving the dead makes it infect other fangames and AUs. And that same poster said why can't it be like other AUs where it doesn't butcher Papyrus' character like Belief or Nihilism (ones I haven't heard about). So let's see how true this is. Is Disbelief Papyrus truly out of character for Papyrus? Are those two any better? Let's take a look.
Canon Papyrus
No video to link with this one since it's mostly theories when searching for who is Papyrus, but who is it for the people who haven’t played Undertale. He is a monster skeleton that is related to Sans. He wants to be a member of the Royal Guard but he is too frikkin nice. Even in the Genocide Route, he still believes you can change and be a better person. Despite what so many fanon interpretations depict, he does enjoy puns and partakes in them. He enjoys puzzles. And he doesn’t like Sans being lazy. There’s probably more but this is a good foundation of who Papyrus really is. So let’s see our AUs in action...
Disbelief Papyrus
DISBELIEF (Papyrus's Genocide Route) is a fan animation made by flamesatgames who I hope is not problematic because apparently he and some other guy is something that I don’t know what it means and looking it up confuses me even more. The animation is 21:05 long. The story, as you saw, takes place after numerous Genocide Routes until something changed. Instead of meeting Papyrus in Snowdin, the Player meets Sans. Sans, somehow, remembered all the previous Genocide Routes and tries to stop the Player right then than there.
The problem is Sans still fights the same and still has the same amount of hitpoints. So one good shot from the Player is all that they need. Even with less health, between their experience with doing Multiple Genocide Routes and able to return from a SAVE, they defeat Sans like normal. Papyrus this time is the one who watches his brother die. And like the normal game, if you kill one of the Skeleton Brothers, you won’t see the other one until the end. So waiting in Sans’ spot is Papyrus. Starting out, despite seeing the Player kill everyone, Papyrus fails to understand why.
Despite that, he thinks the Player is feeling scared and alone and is only attacking because they think they’re in front of someone who wants to hurt them. Granted, that is true, but as you can tell the difference between a Genocide and Pacifist route, you know that is not the reason they went that direction. And despite being called Disbelief, this is still a Papyrus that feels you can be forgiven. He still attacks you, but now he has a staff that can block all your attacks. And he uses Gaster Blasters and Karmic Retribution.
Could Papyrus use these attacks? He is related to Sans and they have similar attacks. Like Toriel and Asgore, they could share similar moves. And Papyrus’ Special Attack, which was taken out by the dog, could be a Gaster Blaster. But what about Karmic Retribution? It is a possibility, after all he is stronger than Undyne and no matter how hard he attacks, he can never finish you off and that is on purpose. He always leaves you with one HP before capturing you. And considering he stands perfectly still in that fight, I can believe he was holding back.
Now for the jacket. Keep in mind we don’t see Sans getting dusted. And a fun visual is Sans wearing Papyrus’ scarf in certain fanworks of that Genocide route. So I don’t mind its inclusion. For the first phase, despite really giving it his all, he really doesn’t want to hurt the child. He even frikkin stops himself from finishing off the Player. But he’s not stupid. Despite leaving himself open, he does block the next attack. And he continues to not attack and instead tries to talk to the Player about not doing it. They could be happy without hurting people.
Eventually, the breaking point happens. His staff breaks as he decides to finally go all out in fighting. For all their complaining, I would say the attack patterns are nuts. Phase 2 you can’t even heal. And despite that, moments where he could have finished off the Player he refuses. He just couldn’t go through with it. He was about to give up when he remembered Undyne’s words: Humans have Determination. Papyrus believes he doesn’t need that. And then Sans and Undyne come back to life. No more KR, more health, Papyrus and Sans are going all out.
Now how is this possible? Quite simple really: they aren’t there. While the animation has them being there, in reality this is all Papyrus’ doing. He’s doing those attacks (considering he is Sans' brother and has been training with Undyne so while it was in cooking he had to have seen her fighting style) and only did it because he thought that is what they would have wanted. But in the end, he still believes in the Player. And for his final phase, he is going to do things his way, which is an all out attack with all his favorite things. This ends with him dying and being struck multiple times while still believing in the Human.
Overall, I think this did a great job at a Genocide Papyrus. Despite seeing everything you have done, he still believes you can change down to the final moments. He tries to act out like his brother and Undyne would have done, but in the end he still doesn’t believe they would have wanted to kill you. Despite being called Disbelief, he still believes in you. And that is probably the true strength of Papyrus.
This one is long so let’s split it up in two parts...
Grogar: Either way, it shouldn't be a bother to me.
Something I had in my mind for a long time... (No Images)
As I mentioned in the past, I do like Evil Playdate, my Ship Name for Bowser Jr and Sage. I also mentioned wanting a Swan Princess song reanimated with those two. But the more I thought about it the more I kind of want to see the entire movie being remade with those two in mind. It does have some funny scenes I think would be great with the Sonic and Mario cast and they have a big history so coming up with changes to make it fit without resorting to the usual Sonic and Mario characters sounds fun. So I’m gonna do my best to summarize the Swan Princess only with the Sonic Cast in mind.
Bowser and Eggman figured if they can’t win in the present, they could at least secure victory in the future by uniting their two Empires together. And the best way to do that is to get their kids together. Of course they’re at the age where they don’t even think of getting married but that’s what the Evil Playdate is for. Once a year, the kids will be together while the adults watch on while exchanging plans with each other. As you figure, Sage will be the Odette of this story while Bowser Jr is Derrek. So after years growing up into young adults, the sparks finally click.
Bowser Jr. is ready to get married when Sage asks what else. When Bowser Jr answers “what else is there”, all the plans go down the drain. Granted, they plan to try this again next year as Kamek (in the role of Rogers) delivers the greatest line in the movie: What else is there? She says, "Is beauty all that matters?" And you say, "What else is there?" You should write a book. "How to Offend Women in Five Syllables or Less". Too bad for them Eggman was attacked on the way home and he and Sage were never seen again.
So who was responsible for this? Our role of Rothbart will be played by Fawful, whose technology and programming skills allowed him to disable Sage’s many abilities and forced her to take the form of a Swan. His second in command, playing the role of Bridget, will be Witchcart, the main villain of Tails Skypatrol. She’s working with Fawful because he promised to give her all the magic of the Koopa Kingdom. But her minions don’t trust him. They’ll be the friends Sage relies on since they’re really doing this to help their boss than to help Sage.
A scene I am going to replace is the Practice Scene. Bowser Jr, thinking Sage is still out there, asks his father for advice because he can’t really put into words why he likes Sage. Bowser, being the boss he is, gives Bowser Jr the best advice about talking to girls and respecting their decisions. Cut to Princess Peach in a cage wondering why he isn’t applying that to her. Bowser’s answer: while he respects her decision to not love him, he does want the Kingdom and capturing her is the best way to gain control of the Mushroom Kingdom.
Like in Swan Princess, Sage can become a humanoid after a certain period of time. She doesn’t understand what it is as it seems to happen every night regardless. This is because Fawful’s coding is like a completely lost language on its own. But with the help of the Carters Sage gets in contact with Bowser Jr and he promises to declare his love to her since, according to Fawful, that specific keyphrase connected with his voice will be the key to freeing her and it had to be public. So the plan was for it to be done tomorrow. But this is all according to Fawful’s plans.
The reason she can transform back to a humanoid for a period of time? The Moon Light must hit the lake and tomorrow will be the rare time the moon won’t shine onto it. And if Bowser Jr declares his love to another, she will be slowly deleted. So how can he make Bowser Jr. do that? Using technology to make Witchcart into Sage. So the next day, at the “We’ll get them next time” after party, Bowser Jr makes his declaration and Fawful reveals his cards. He escapes as his robot army, consisting of Robotnik’s Machines under his control, attacks the tired Koopa Kingdom.
As Bowser Jr goes one on one with Fawful, the Koopa Kingdom are being attacked. During that time, Witchcart is attacked regardless of working with Fawful. Kamek saves her and the two have a connection. Sonic and friends also arrive, thinking this is an Eggman attack. But once Bowser Jr. defeats Fawful, the robots stop attacking. BJ’s actual declaration of love, including the things beyond Beauty, restores Sage. She wonders how that is possible but Bowser Jr. believes it is the power of love. She finds it illogical, but can’t help but laugh and kiss him.
So the next day, Sage and Bowser Jr. are married and now she has control of all the robots. Sonic and gang notice this and figure they better locate themselves in the Mushroom Kingdom because trouble is going to be happening there a lot more. And a bonus after credit scene, turns out Eggman is still alive. Only he’s captured by another villain: Smithy.
And that’s my take on the Swan Princess if we use Sonic and Mario characters. Not entirely detailed, but most of the major points are there. What do you think?
((Can't blame a School of Self-Defense for someone else taking their lessons and misusing it))
