--For some people, sure. It's wishful thinking at best.
”One could just say you lack the ability to properly take in one’s surroundings thanks to poor attitude, therefore seeing something as lackluster.”
I s'pose you could, but there aren't a great deal of things that spark my interest these days.
[except the hunt for conduits. that is the only thing that keeps him on track, that keeps him focused. he has no time for distractions, for paying attention to atmosphere.]
”And why is that?”
--Because, the booze is too expensive an' the atmosphere is stale. If I wanted any of that, I'd stick to cheap dives.
”You can’t not give your opinion now. You’ve done so well in sharing it so far, darling.”
[ A smirk as her eyes danced over to his, hands sliding into her jacket’s pockets. ]
[he frowns. well, she's asking for it. best not to deny a woman her wishes.]
--It's not some place tha' I would recommend. Ever. New York has th' best bars and pubs, and th' one you're lookin' for? Not one o' them.
”Well, I certainly have news for you, darling.”
[ She noticed his change in pace—his being much quicker while hers was slower, much more serene in comparison to the heals the typically beat against New York’s streets. Despite the difference, she had little to no problem in matching his. ]
”Really now? What do you make of the pub?”
[it's not the first time a woman has tried to convince him otherwise. his view of the subject is incredibly narrow--every time a woman has tried to prove that they're more than they appear, they end up being pretentious, and he really doesn't care to see her make a fool of herself.]
'M sure you do.
[he rolls his eyes, a disdainful grimace on his mouth.]
I dunno tha' you want my honest opinion, lass. Best let your experience speak for itself.
”I don’t seem the type of girl to enjoy a drink in an exciting atmosphere?”
[ The fact that she was the sister of the owner played a major part, of course, but the man’s distaste in the establishment wasn’t something that could easily be ignored. So, why not enjoy some of the fun in ignorance? ]
--Hardly.
[he shoves his hands in his pockets as he continues walking down the pavement. he's finding himself walking with larger strides than the woman beside him, but he can't bring himself to care. she can keep up if she wants, or she can fall behind.]
Please. Tha' place is far from exciting.
[ She seemed proud that she’d managed to take the man off his original course—even if it was just for the time being. Wearing a broad smile, she waited till he had taken the step in direction of what she already knew was the direction of the Nest. That didn’t make the game any less fun. ]
”I appreciate this, darling.”
[he grumbles, a frown pulling at the corners of his mouth. he really didn't want to do this, but at this point, he really doesn't have the time for her.]
--'M sure you do.
[he gives her a sidelong glance as he begins walking.]

[ Her head titled, the smallest of smiles playing at her lips—tugging gracefully at the corner’s of her lips—as her eyes swept over the male’s figure; clearly he wasn’t too happy on being kept. ]
"Would you mind actually showing me the Crow’s Nest? I’m afraid I’m terrible directions."
You'd better believe it, lass.
[he shifted impatiently from one foot to the other.]
I--really? What part of 'busy' d'you not understand? Look, I know you want t' get there, but I've--
[he sighed heavily. if this was the way to get this insufferable woman to leave him alone permanently, then so be it. sometimes, sacrifices had to be made; even if the choice was incredibly undesirable.]
--Fine. But I'll only walk you part o' the way.

Smoke dashing had become so much as second nature to him since his powers had first awakened and he’d nearly tumbled headfirst off a cliff because he couldn’t control it. Now, his dashes were longer, easier to initiate—and more versatile. It was easy for him—
—which was why the second he was yanked out of the goddamn middle of one, it took him a dazed moment to realize that the reason was the crushing pain suddenly shooting up his right arm.
And as if that weren’t enough, he didn’t have enough time to process the sudden pain, as the next second his arm was violently yanked back towards the older man, with the rest of Delsin in tow. He landed on the hard cement with enough force to knock the breath from his lungs
Fuck.
”Son of a bitch—”
A cruel grin twisted on Xavier's lips. He was enjoying this--he'd been waiting, just waiting, for the moment that he'd meet and confront Delsin Rowe, and now it was happening just as he had imagined.
In his mind, Delsin was public enemy number one.
His feet moved forward purposefully toward the younger conduit, arrogance colouring his expression. Every sound, every noise fell away as he approached Delsin--save for the sound of the heels of his shoes hitting the pavement. His steely eyes zeroed in on him, and he twisted his palm. He raised Delsin up by the chain, no less constricting than before, until he was dangling about two feet above the ground.
"--Not so invincible now, are we Mister Rowe?"
With one fluid motion, Xavier tossed Delsin into the brick wall to his right.
”You might not want to say that too loudly—might piss off a feisty blonde.”
[ Namely Quinn. ]
--Frankly, I can't be bothered with what some feisty blonde has to say about it. I have better things t' worry about.
[what did this woman care about what he should say? she hardly knew him--and if she did, she wouldn't want to. he wouldn't want her to.]
"Take me on a date first."
[ Delsin really, really didn’t want to get to know this guy—didn’t want a damn thing to do with the D.U.P. or conduits or anything like that anymore. Chasing after Augustine had cost him his brother. Fighting the D.U.P. had cost him everything else.
Against his very nature, Delsin turned and attempted to smoke dash away from this guy—and a pending fight. ]
You're a little old fashioned for someone so young, Delsin.
[his fingers curl into his palm as his hand forms a fist. his thoughts drift from the conversation to the chain wrapped around his arm.
this is going to be fun.
his fist tightens as the conduit turns to leave, and the chain around delsin's wrist pulls him back, hard. the chain twists, much like a snake, and constricts the circulation to delsin's arm. xavier smiles and pulls his arm back, which sends delsin flying forward onto the pavement. xavier steps forward, his command on the chain still taut.]
