Motorsport Update & Being Too Picky About Cars Motorsport Project Update No. 2

It’s that time of year again, the time when I buy a new car. This will be my 11th car in less than 3 years ha ha! This time will be a little different though because I’m probably going to keep it for a while. I am writing an article for the next issue of Mighty Car Mods Magazine which the car will be featured in, but also I will be trying my hand at making a full YouTube series about getting into motorsport, drifting, autocross and all that good stuff. I have always loved Nissan’s, particularly the Skyline and Silvia. I have had many Toyota’s and always wanted an MR2/Supra/Soarer/Ae86/86/Ke70/manual Cressida. I have owned a Subaru and really loved the practicality and handling but other than the RX series I have never wanted a Mazda. Especially a “hair dresser’s special” or whatever the haters call them. The more research I do on what car would be a good starting point to learn the ins and outs of motorsport, the more I find myself drawn to the MX-5. It’s lightweight, cheap, easy to work on, huge after-market support and when you get to upgrading them, they go like crazy! As much as I would love a Nissan, the cost comparison is hard to ignore and not to mention the difficulty of finding one that hasn’t been thrashed is seeming impossible. Compared to the MX-5’s which seem to be owned by mostly older people who have kept it garaged and buffed out every tiny scratch. I will be looking at a whole bunch of cars in the next week then making a decision probably the week after but I have to say I am really loving the MX-5. I would love to hear any suggestions from people who have had experience with an MX-5 or even if you have another suggestion because this car is going to be a big deal to me and my future as an automotive journalist/film maker. What do you think?
