This is a spreadsheet from Old Kingdom Egypt, written about 4500 years ago. It was part of the diary and logbook of Merer, an inspector responsible for the transportation of materials to Giza for the construction of Khufu's pyramid. There's something beautiful about the organization here, how his rows and columns would fit in just as well in Excel as any modern spreadsheet of delivery records. Across the yawning gulf of ages, we're united by this mundane and incredibly human task. I love reading things like this. They remind me of the fundamental similarity of humans across time. They were no less intelligent or skilled than we, and oftentimes had to be moreso, to account for the many technological aids they lacked.
I often hear people talk about how showing a smartphone to a medieval peasant would shock him, but I want to show Merer Excel. I think pivot tables would make him cry tears of joy.

A redo of an oooold character concept I had but could never do justice. While not as good as I hoped, I am glad I managed to get it done and all.
I’m a character artist, which means landscapes are my enemy. I have an automatic habit of rendering mountains and grass as if it was skin. I struggle to get the sense of scale right - everything feels mid-sized, while it should be epic and grandiose. It’s tough, but I will keep trying! Here’s some assorted environment practice 💪
I’ve created at least a gazillion drawings called “colorful heads” by now. Here’s the latest installation 🎨
Inside, it rained.

Resources for Mending Clothes
We toss out over 80 pounds of textiles each year. These textiles are often made of plastic materials (polyester, nylon), made in unethical conditions, dyed with harsh dyes that often get put into the rivers, etc. Even a single cotton shirt releases carbon emissions and uses tons of water.
So the best thing to prevent the unsustainable growth of the fashion industry is to make sure that your clothing lasts as long as possible. To do so, mending clothing is a must. So here are some resources to help you learn how to do various things, such as sewing a button, to tailoring clothes, or even upcycling old clothing into new styles.
* How to sew on three different types of button
* How to hand sew on a patch on a torn pair of jeans
* How to sew up a hole in an old shirt
* How to sew a simple T-shirt
* How to upcycle old clothing into new clothing
* More upcycle and sewing techniques
* How to repair a damaged sock
* How to do an invisible stitch
* 3 different stitches to work with for different results
* How to make a T-shirt smaller so it fits you better
* How to make repairs to your shoes
These are just a few of the things that you can do in order to make sure that your clothing lasts for a long time. Nobody wants to keep buying new clothing, as it is expensive and wasteful.
So making alterations to your clothing, or fixing small holes hen you see them can be hugely beneficial to your wallet, to garment workers, and to the environment in the long term.
I love the body language here so, so much.
I was scribbling some "his lungs ached" DE romantic yearning ™️ and added "</3" as a reminder to make this extra painful when I'll write properly only to realise that it looks dumb as fuck, I should put some. Broken lungs in there? And then I started wondering A. how do you even make lungs emoticon using letters and numbers? B. If you figure that out, what's the equivalent of broken heart? Pierced lungs? Because of the way Dolores died? It's going to spin in my brain now (it's dumb but fun)
Now I'm curious
Which option of pierced/broken lungs do you like most?

something different?
@linophrynelight I'm borrowing the lungs shape, hope it's alright :3
A crossed out infinity symbol (because it does look like lungs).
