Happy dictator-perforation-day to those who celebrate 🗡️🗡️🗡️
I pulled an all-nighter to get this out on time, because I consistently underestimate the time it takes me to paint, but I am quite pleased with the finished image
As a sidenote, whilst I did skim over the account of the assassination given by Suetonius in his biography of Caesar, I didn’t pay all to much attention to historical accuracy, deciding to prioritise composition instead (Not that my usual artwork is particularly historically accurate, since whilst I do make an effort at research before starting a piece, I still am just some 19-year-old with barely any qualifications in the relevant fields lol)

close-ups:
I am currently out of the country and as such do not have access to my graphic tablet. Because of this (and my lack of proper time management skills), I was not able to finish the painting I had been planning for this year's Ides of March, so a shameless self-reblog of last year's painting will have to do. Happy Caesar-murder, everyone!
I still have not finished the painting I had intended to post on this occasion a year ago, as I spent the last weeks swamped in three term papers, work and preparatory reading for my bachelor's thesis. So I am once again only able to give a reblog of this two-year-old piece as my humble offering in celebration of The Ides 🗡️
