Planetary Pumpkin Bread
You will need:
(Regular Ingredients)
1 large egg
œ cup light brown sugar, packed
Πcup granulated sugar
Πcup coconut (or olive) oil
Πcup light sour cream
1 cup all-purpose flour
œ tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
A pinch of salt
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
(Witchy Ingredients)
1 cup pumpkin purée
2 tsps vanilla extract
2 tsps cinnamon
œ tsp ground nutmeg
(Optional Ingredients)
1 cup chocolate chips
1 bar (8 oz) cream cheese
2 tbsps sugar
œ cup milk
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 F (175 C). Butter/grease one 9x5 loaf pan and sprinkle with a little extra sugar.
2. In a large bowl combine egg, pumpkin, brown sugar, regular/white sugar, oil, sour cream, vanilla, and all the spices. Whisk or beat with an electric mixer until homogeneous.
3. In a separated bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Fold this dry mixture into the big bowl containing all the wet ingredients. Mix and fold gently until thoroughly combined. At this point you can add the chocolate chips if you want chocolate chip pumpkin bread!
4. Pour batter into greased loaf pan and bake for about 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. If you want cream cheese pumpkin bread, put half your batter into the loaf pan and, in a separate bowl, combine 2 tbsps sugar, milk, and cream cheese and mix until smooth. Pour this over the half of your batter in the loaf pan and top with your remaining pumpkin bread batter. Bake for the same amount of time!
What correspondences do our Witchy ingredients have?
Pumpkin - Associated with lunar deities, primarily used in spells for granting wishes, prosperity, good tidings, and protection.
Vanilla - Happiness, peace, sensuality, and love. Vanilla is primarily used in love potions whether they be for a significant other or to enhance self-love.
Cinnamon - Common in elemental fire magick and has a strong association w/ the sun. Great for meditation and personal protection.
Nutmeg - Another great spice for Fire elementals. Use to ward off evil, for good luck, or to keep disease and sickness at bay.
Notes/Tips:
⹠It can be hard to find cans of pumpkin purée that give you exactly one cup. The can usually contains more, so it might be worth doubling the recipe for two loaves to use up all that extra pumpkin!
âą Vegans - replace the egg with ÂŒ cup unsweetened apple sauce! The sour cream can be replaced with plain coconut yogurt in a 1:1 ratio (or any other type of vegan yogurt).
âą Gluten free - replace the flour with almond flour! 1:1 ratio. The loaf will not rise as much and may be denser but scrumptious nonetheless!
âą Iâve gotten a few comments about my use of coconut oil! You donât have to use coconut oil, itâs just my personal preference. Olive, canola, or vegetable oil will work just as well!
đđđâš
Edit - A kind soul reached out to tell me I forgot to list an ingredient that I used in the recipe! I updated the ingredient list to accurately match the instructions! Good luck baking, fellow witches! Much love and blessed be â„ïžđđ
Lucid Lemon Tarts
You will need:
Curd
2 large eggs
1/3 cup lemon juice, approx. 2 lemons
1 egg yolk
Πteaspoon vanilla extract
œ cup sugar
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold
1 tablespoon heavy cream
Œ tsp salt
Tartlet Dough
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 stick (8 tbsps) unsalted butter
Πcup granulated sugar
Œ tsp salt
1 egg yolk
Witchy Ingredients
Lemon Juice
Vanilla Extract
Instructions:
1. Cut the butter for the dough into the all-purpose flour, making sure to cut off small chunks at a time.
2. Using your hands, crumble the flour and butter together until it has a nice, sandy/crumbly consistency.
3. Fold in sugar, egg yolk, and salt. Stir until combined. Once uniform, fold and knead with your hands on a lightly floured surface.
4. Spray or grease a mini-muffin tin. Roll out the dough so as to cut it into rounds to fit the tin. You can also take spoonfuls of dough and press them directly into the tin, using a small shot glass to press down into the dough to create a well.
5. Bake tartlet dough at 350F (175C) for about 20 minutes, or until nice and golden. Set aside to cool while you make the lemon curd.
6. Heat your lemon juice in a small pot until steaming, do not boil.Â
7. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs and gradually add sugar and vanilla until well combined and uniform in color. Slowly whisk in hot lemon juice, stirring to combine.
8. Return mixture to pot and heat over medium, stirring constantly. You want the curd to reach a temperature of 170F (75C) but if you donât have a candy thermometer, cook/stir until the mixture coats the back of your spoon without sliding off.
9. Remove from pan and cut the butter reserved for the lemon curd into the pot in small chunks. Stir to combine.
10. Cool the lemon curd before spooning into the cooled tartlet cups.
Where will you incorporate Kitchen Magick?
Lemons - Lemons, funnily enough, have a planetary connection to the moon and are frequently used by water elementals. Good for use when trying to please/make an offering to Diana. Longevity, happiness, friendship.
Vanilla - Associated with venus and most often used in love potions. Water elemental and feminine. Vanilla is thought of as an ingredient well-associated with hospitality, calmness, soothing, and mental clarity.
Tips/Tricks
If you undercook the lemon curd and find that the consistency is too lose when you add the butter, just pop it back on the stove and heat/stir it over medium until the consistency is thick enough to be spooned into the tartlet cups!
My tartlets are above! I added some candied lemon peel for a little decoration :)
Witch Tip Wednesday 3.28.18
Cast Iron Care
I grew up in what I call a cast iron family. All the pans were cast iron, we had a few enamel pots for pasta, and one beat up copper bottomed pan for boxed mac and cheese. My mom cooked most days and when she didnât, it was mac and cheese or pasta because we werenât allowed to cook with her pans unless she was there.
Cast iron has some mixed reviews, some (me), swear by it and some, think itâs difficult and impossible to cook withâŠand theyâre right to a degree (get it, degree, cooking, farenheit, celciusâŠsorry), if you donât know how to care for cast iron, itâs a hassle and a mess. Thatâs what this post is for though!
Seasoning
Seasoning is the term used to treat and clean cast iron. Even when you buy a new âpre-seasonedâ pan, youâre going to want to season it yourself. A major benefit of cooking with cast iron is that it retains flavor, and makes its own seasoning for your foodâŠlike magic!
Step 1: Clean your pan with HOT water and a scouring brush, rough side of a sponge, or steel wool. Nothing elseâŠjust water and something rough.
Step 2: Dry it completely with paper towels, and then place it on a lit stovetop burner for a minute or so to make sure itâs completely dry.
Step 3: While the pan is warm, probably 10-20 minutes after you remove from stove, (because it retains heat like no oneâs business, and I donât want you to burn yourself) pour some oil* into the pan and spread it around, completely coating the inside. Wipe off excess.
Step 4: Place in the oven set to 200Âș F, Upside Down for 2 hours
BOOM! Your pan is seasoned and ready to cook with.
*But Barber, what kind of oil? Thatâs mostly up to you, but canola is the classic standard (vegetable oil) but I use olive oil or canola, depending on what I used last. You can use any vegetable oil you want, whether thatâs grapeseed, sunflower or flax seed, but thereâs no reason to go crazy and buy a âCast Iron Care Oilâ because thatâs literally just a marked up bottle of canolaâŠNo Lies.
NEVER USE SOAP WHEN CLEANING YOUR CAST IRON,and hereâs whyâŠ**
Soap is great for clothes, and your body, and even your car, but not for Cast Iron. Cast iron is a porous metal, so when you put something in, it absorbs. When you cook with it regularly, and oil it regularly, it creates its own nonstick surface! Itâll absorb the taste of herbs and spices you cook with regularly, and everything gets a mild flavor boost from whatever you cooked in it previously. When you use soap, it removes that surface and flavor; soap can absorb and flavor your food, and no one wants soapy fritatas.
Now, the seasoning steps above are used when you get a new pan, or need to re-season a rusted pan. Itâll restore it like new. But what about cleaning after cooking something tastey?
Cleaning and Upkeep
Step 1: While the pan is still warm, take rock salt and/or a non-metal brush (like the one above that I use) and go crazy scrubbing it.***
Step 2: Rinse with warm water, and dry with a paper towel (I say paper towel, because itâll actually raise up some iron, and turn your towel blackâŠbetter use a disposable towel, or risk staining your nice linens) after that, feel free to put on the stove top for a minute to make sure itâs all dry
Step 3: Coat with a little oil, wipe up excess, and store in your oven or broiler.
Special notes: The heat, salt you use to scrub, and iron itself all equal one great big anti-bacterial surface, so no worries about not using soap and feeling like youâll get salmonella. Because itâs a porous surface, air drying is a no-no. Itâll lead to rust, and then youâll have to scrub it off and completely re-season it (refer to first seasoning process).
**The soap thing. You can use soap. I never do. Most soaps these days arenât as damaging and stripping as the old ones. Again, you can use soap, but I never will because like I said, thatâs how i grew up, my tradition, this is a part of my witchcraft practice, and it works for me. Updated 10/27/18 p.s. idk about yâall, but I use dish soap to get rid of oil, so while tons of people message me about using soap on it, I still am not going to break tradition of not using soap on a pan older than me. 11/27/18
***When you scrub with salt, it starts picking up iron particles and oil. Itâll start turning black and you can keep it in a jar until youâve got a good amount, bake it on a sheet to dry it, and there you have classic Black Salt! For more banishing oomph, I scald pepper in a fry pan, and add incense ash to the mix.

2 Cleansing and Cleaning Mists
Those two mists can be used to give your flat a quick and easy cleanse.
What you will need:
2 spray bottles (as you can see, recycling old ones works just fine), alternatively you can also put the mixture in a mug and spritz it around with your hands. Ingredients for your cleansing botlle like salt, rosemary, basil, sage or whatever you like best. Just keep in mind that salt leaves stains, I simply went over everything with a damp cloth. This also helped to remove dust and other stains obviously. Ingredients for your second bottle like lavender, orange zest, rose petals or any other smell you really like. I used lavender to spread a calm and relaxing feeling and to kind of settle everything down. I did not combine everything in one bottle because cleansing and preparing my home are two seperate steps for me. If this is not important to you, then just put it all in one bottle.
While I was applying the first spray and cleaning all the surfaces I imagined old and harmful memories or emotions to vanish. Things that were only a burden were supposed to disappear as i wiped over the desks and cupboards.
After I was done with the whole room I used the second mist. I applied it it everywhere and just sprayed it across the whole room, sometimes in a clockwhise motion, thinking of a calming and relaxing envivroment.
Thatâs it.
Kitchen Witch Tips
Here are a few tricks Iâve picked up along my kitchen-witchery journey:
âą When frying meat, use tongs and always add the meat to the pan by laying it away from you. This prevents the oil from splashing and burning you.
âą Do not prep and cook at the same time. Finish your prep before adding anything to a frying pan or sticking anything in the oven.
âą 4 tbsps is equal to ÂŒ cup. So when something calls for 1/8 of a cup, it means 2 tbsps. No one has 1/8th cups.
âą If a recipe calls for buttermilk but youâre all out, add 1 tbsp of lemon juice or white vinegar to a cup of milk and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Boom, you have buttermilk.
âą Burned the bottom of your pan? No worries, I do it all the time too! To get those stubborn bits off, add water to the pan and boil it once more on the stovetop. This loosens up the grime so you can scrape it off!
âą Keep brownies, cookies, and cakes moist by storing them with a slice of bread. The treat will remain decadent while the bread will harden and crust up.
âą Speaking of crusty/stale bread, if you want the best french toast, leave your bread out overnight. Stale bread soaks up more egg/custard and will result in richer, Fuller pieces of french toast.
âą Before frosting your goodies, stick your frosting spoon/utensil in the fridge. Colder utensils make for better frosting-spreaders.
âą To prevent your cakes from cracking or rising unevenly in the oven, place a dish of water on the rack below. The extra moisture helps cakes cook evenly.
âą Eat and use veggies and fruits that are in-season!
âą Buy local produce when you can.
âą Always work with sharp knives and always slice away from yourself. Dull knives and cuts are no good.
âą Lean cuts of meat like pork tenderloin and chicken breasts toughen up when cooked in the oven, on the stovetop, or on the grill. To keep some of the moisture, wrap them in foil or add a sauce to the pan.
âą Your measurements donât have to be perfect! Itâs okay to spill a little flour here and there!
âą If you screw up a recipe donât get discouraged! Cooking and baking are trial and error. Both skills come with time and part of the fun is making a few mistakes along the way!
âą Intent is important. It doesnât always matter what magical ingredients youâve added to the dishes, sometimes intent and reason for making are the strongest most powerful forces you can garner during the process.
âą Everyone has different tastes! Some people may not like what you make, others may enjoy it whole-heartedly. Donât get discouraged if a few people shy away from your food!
Thatâs it for now! Iâm sure I have many more to share, but until then, keep cooking!

Portuguese Bread Rolls
iâve created something today which iâd like to share with you âĄ
to do this craft you will need either a kitchen with stove and a pot of water, or maybe a cauldron works as well. afterwards it is recommended to have a warm heater nearby. also gather the following:
cinnamon
fresh basil
small papers
basically you just boil some water with a good amount of cinnamon and some fresh basil until you have a strong and dark mixture (i did that for approx. 20 minutes) and then you fill that mixture into a bowl and let your paper soak in it for about 5-10 minutes before you take it out to dry and use.
and then you can pretty much use it for any manifestation that youâd like! basil is amazing and attracts happiness, love, peace and money â which are all the things that everyone wishes for; cinnamon does almost the same and gives the whole thing a true power upgrade also.
use paper for: positive affirmations ⊠requests to the universe ⊠writing down wishes and desires ⊠setting intentions and goals ⊠scripting your dream life ⊠showing love and gratitude ⊠different manifestation methods (3x33 or 11x11) ⊠love letters ⊠spells and sigils ⊠literally anything you want to manifest in a positive way âĄ
i think this is one genius little âdo it yourselfâ ⥠have fun!! âĄâĄâĄ

Ancient Egyptian pharaohs used the bee as their royalty symbol. They believed honey bees were born from the tears of the sun God, Ra. To the Egyptians, bees represented resurrection and protected against evil spirits.Â
Druids believed that bees represented the sun, the Goddess, celebration, and community.
The Greeks thought that a babies whose lips where touched by a bee would become a great poet or a great speaker. In ancient Greece it was also thought that they symbolized industry, hard work, messengers of the dead, and obedience. Honey was often used as an offering to their Gods. They also believed bees were the surviving souls of the priestesses who served the Goddess Aphrodite.Â

Bees in Magick:
Bees are closely associated with the fae and their presence in gardens which indicates blessings of fae. Encourage the bees, by putting up bee houses, hives, planting bee-friendly plants and waterers and not using pesticides. Thus, encouraging the blessings from the fae, while harming bees can anger them and cause them to seek revenge.Â
The symbol of a bee can be used to seal a spell with sweetness for one who appreciates good will and a sting for one who takes it for granted or doesnât keep his end of the bargain.Â
Honey stirred into your tea can âsweetenâ your day.Â
Honey is used often in magick to sweeten a situation.
Anointing your lips with honey will make your words sound sweeter.Â
Bees in your dreams:
May be a good omen.
Bees in your dreams may be telling you to take a look at your social networks. They may be pointing toward a desire for more harmonious and functional relationships, or celebrating the ones you already have.
A visit from a bee in a dream may also be notifying you that a friend or family member needs to speak with you. You will know as this person will also pop into your mind somehow. It means call them or perhaps, that you will hear from them soon.
Dreaming of a beehive usually relates to the home and family or your business and coworkers. A happy, buzzing hive means a happy, buzzing home. It may foretell incoming abundance, and fruitful times ahead. If the bees are swarming around the hive, rather than working in it, proceed with caution. There is a lack of harmony that is interfering with productivity.
A swarm of bees may indicate that you feel that a group of people upon whose cooperation you rely is becoming chaotic and out of control. Perhaps the need to balance your own interactions with your different business and social groups for your own sanity.
Beehives bring to mind abundance and prosperity: bees seem to work hard and are rewarded by flowing stores of honey. An empty beehive, then, represents the opposite: lost opportunity and financial misfortune.
A beehive can also represent a home. The fullness or emptiness of the beehive may indicate unconscious feelings about family life, marriage, children, or the house itself. Honey may represent your property or belongings.
A beehive on fire or burned bees are often interpreted depending on your emotional and physical condition. Burned bees may mean you are overcoming fear and want to take control of life and anger, are youâre progressing through life with more confidence without any fear of obstacles. Burned beehives can also mean you have lost something precious, like money, a relationship, or some valuable information that youâve forgotten or ignored.
If a bee or a swarm of bees is chasing you in dream, it may mean there is some unsettled business or a memory that haunts you. Make sure you let it go from your mind or deal with it in order to avoid these bees.
If you dream about getting a bee sting then something may be bothering you, or you have a persistent annoyance in your life. Concerns about your relationship, career, finance, or some unknown issue is bugging your subconscious mind. Find out what it is and sort it out.

How To Tell If Youâve Been Cursed
The Egg Test
Simply take an egg (obviously from your own chickens is best but uh, Im going to assume most of you dont have one so store is fine), and carefully pass the egg through the flame of a white or black candle to âdraw out the badâ and set intent. Then crack into a white bowl.
If you find blood: Youâre cursed! Blood is never ever a good thing to find in your eggs, but especially during The Egg Test.
If you find big white clots: The bigger the clot the bigger the problem. It usually means some kind of blockage or obstruction in your life. Sometimes from some form of bad energy.
If you find egg shell: (Now if youâre really bad at cracking eggs maybe ignore this one) but this is a sign of your generic brand Bad Luck.
If you find a broken yolk: Take notice of your internal and subconcious self. The root of your problems comes from a disturbance within.
If you find something unusual: Listed above or otherwise, cleansing methods (such as a salt bath) will usually clean up most problems. Do your own research for cleansing methods of choice. I would advise not to eat the egg, but rather to pass the egg one final time (in the bowl) over the white flame before disposing off it outside. If you do cook it (because hey, I get it) use protective herbs like basil or rosemary and donât forget to salt!
If you find nothing unusual: chop onions, mushrooms, and spinach up while heating an oiled pan on medium low. Add the egg to the pan, when a yellow film forms around the side and the egg can be separated easily, fill the center with toppings and flip half over to form an omelet. Cook through, flipping as needed. Season with salt, pepper, fresh herbs, and tomato (salsa if youâre frisky). Thatâs my favorite way to cook an egg!

đżBath Witch: Heal a Broken Heartđż
Hello, my greenies! This spell is a ritual bath for mending a broken heart. It is not to attract a new love, but to heal that which was injured by a past one. Itâs not easy to forgive or to forget, but hopefully with this spell I can ease the pain a little.
Please make sure you understand a little about bath magic before you perform this. Some ingredients can irritate certain skin types and I want everyone to be careful. For those who have sensitive body parts I recommend taking a shower after, so you can rinse off if you feel irritated.
Ingredients
1 tbsp of dried lavender
5 drops of lemongrass oil
5 drops of tea tree oil
2 dried bay leaves
4 ounces of epsom salts
a bowl of any size
jar of some sort
paper and pen (not color specific)
Directions
Place dried lavender and bay leaves together in a grinder of sorts and grind a few before adding the epsom salts. After a minute or two add, one by one, lemongrass and tea tree oil. Mix after each oil and then stir and grind together until in a combined form. Place the completed salt into the mason jar and label.
As your bath is filling up take the paper and pen and write your feelings of hurt and suffering on the parchment. Once complete, fold and place paper into the bowl. Move the bowl next to the bath, we will use it later.
Get the bath ready and once the water is hot place 3 tbsps in the bath and mix with your hands. While you mix chant
âThe heart is but broken glass, and mind fragile flower petals. Mother strengthen my soul, heal the wounds of an old love, and birth me anew. Like the phoenix, like the butterfly, I come naked and ready to fly.â
Before you step into the bath, place a good amount of the infused bath water into the bowl with the paper in it. Place it next to your tub and hop in.
Sit for about 30 minutes and carefully step out. Slowly dry your body.
When you are ready, take the bowl and dump the contents into the bath. Make sure you take the paper out and you can roll it into a ball, rip it apart, or just throw it away. Once you are done, I recommend sitting with a nice book or listening to calming music.
Love is a strange emotion that can morph into something we donât recognize. Donât let someone turn you into a stranger. Love yourself enough to know you are beautiful and amazing and deserve love.
You deserve to be happy.
- Kenzie
