I'm a social hermit who's never online but I was at the store today and there was like. Stuff in the vitamin aisle that was labeled like 'sleep' and 'energy' and my first thought was to point it out to my roommate and go "just like in the host" 😭😭

For Wanda
For Melanie
For Jared
Let me know it you want any other characters or flag!!
complacency (1,481 words)
They would live their last life as Melanie and Jamie’s sister, Ian’s girlfriend, Wanda.
And truthfully, they could die okay with that.
OR;
Wanderer thinks about gender.
thank u frenchie you asked where the fic was and I sat down and wrote at least 1k and it's been incredibly healing
@ me enough about wanda gender think about Ian bi king for more than two seconds
You know what's so funny?
I read the twilight saga in middle school, and when it got to the baby plot, naive unexperienced child that I was, I thought it was very pro-choice of Bella to know all the risks of her pregnancy and still go though with it in the face of opposition. I was like, "Yeah, that's what pro-choice is, your choice, and this is a pregnancy plot. Of course, she'd choose the baby?? That's just what people do in pregnancy plots??"
Like, it did not at all occure to me steph was virtue signaling that keeping the baby in the face of your own death was the "proper or correct" thing to do, just that that was the plot of the story she was writing, and I knew Balla had plot armor so there was no real risk,,,
In the same vein, reading the Host, I thought it was cool that Wanda knew she was a woman, even as a sexless worm. Like I always though it was very, I don't know, just, "I've tried everything in eight different planets and know what my gender orientation is, even if that might in some definition be cisgender. And I'm only bringing it up cause we're having an argument, and you're all being weird about it." of Wanda to have been to eight planets, that you can't tell me all had proper equivalent to human male and female- especially when the Dolphin planet had three sexes and polyamory- and always have a preference for a certain type of gender orientation known for herself.
Like as an adult, I get Balla was being a pro-life mouth piece even though that girl totally would have driven her friends to seattle for a secret abortion in the middle of the night no questions asked until steph needed it be her, and Wanda was probably being,,,, well she's probably Cis in the oddest of definitions, but you can't tell me Wanda would ever be transphobic. Sorry steph, but when you creat a world of sexless worms who can express gender-oriented preferences, and still be put it in whatever body their healers have avalable, and it's a perfect utopia,,,, you can't tell me there wasn't hella trans souls wandering around on every planet. Or you know, non-binary souls who have never understood gender on a single planet they've ever been to.
Or souls who's host were trans/transitioning, and just went with it.
But it's just so funny I managed to read her conservative propaganda and go. "Yeah yeah yeah, pro-choice and freedom of gender expression, ofc ofc" for yeeeaaaars
4.4 - these twins still make me emo
brb gonna write a fic about wanda experiencing human genders and it being weird. Gonna write them getting a more masculine body after Mel gonna have Ian be like "I told you I love you, not your body"
WHERE’S THE FIC OP
this is literally my brain when I go to write it I'm so sorry
I will die on the hill that cal is a least a little bit in love w sol in most timelines. They ARE the definition of more than friends not quite lovers!!! In my first playthrough it felt SO set up for them to end up together, then y'know, Tammy which is FINE and FAIR and they're cute!!! They are!!! But there's some part of me that can't shake that both of them (cal and tammy) fell into "childhood friends to lovers everyone expects us to be together and like we never really reached out to anyone else so of course we'll end up together"
also how do you be the child of the head of geoponics and NOT have cal fall in love with you?
4.8 - tammy and dys, my beloveds
whats the point of being a teenage exocolonist without PROM!
bonus: all these fucking shoes i drew. look at them
After a few minutes, I saw a bright, familiar sign in the distance. I took a deep breath and wiped my eyes clear.
“Ian, could you do me a favor?"
"Anything you want."
"I want fast food."
To me, this was a sort of a last meal - the final gift to the condemned.

Honestly. It's been a decade since we got new content, and it was a one (1) extra chapter 😭
Realistically I've been on the Internet (esp Tumblr) for long enough I should be letting terfs/radfems get to me specifically but I got a few reblogs on my post and it reminded me that I'm not alone in my lil queer thoughts lol
I love the host I love twilight but not in the way I'm intended to I'm sure. I love the tragedy of twilight, I love the characters and the sandbox of a world. I love the host, probably more so like it was intended, but for a whole lot more. It's about family, finding who you are, accepting people not like you, it's about CHANGE and that change is okay.
I've read and reread the twilight series and the host since they've come out countless times, I had a shrine to twilight in middle school. I could never in my right mind call these books pro feminism. The host definitely is a step in the right direction, but it still has glaring flaws (Mel and Jared age gap + their relationship, picking Wanda a body that is young and fragile, infantilizing Wanda when she's thousands of years old). I would even call it reckless to call them such, because young women would read these books and model their affections after people like Edward or Jacob or Jared, even Ian (especially Ian, when he strangled Wanda when they first met lol).
