UFC Twitter Activity 11/5 - 11/12

A lot of the twitter activity surrounded one of the trendiest UFC fighters, Conor McGregor. Earlier this week, he attempted to throw a chair at Eddie Alvarez! This made the twitter community erupt with laughs and other commentary. Major news account such as Fox Sports: UFC (@UFCONFOX) provided the public with direct links to watch the surprising event. On the 12th, the actual fight occurred. When McGregor won int he second round, twitter went on a twitter rampage. Some respected his cockiness because he backed it up, some did not like his showboating and thought he was very unprofessional. Regardless, McGregor definitely overshadowed anything else this week in UFC on Twitter.

There is hype around the Dos Anjos vs. Ferguson fight. There has been a lack of UFC fights in October and previous months. Fans are referring to it as a UFC drought. This fight is giving the fans something to look forward to. Most predict a great fight. Actually, in a poll taken on twitter with over 2000 voters, the statistics show that the vote is at a dead split at 50% for each fighter! #UFCMexicoCity will be covered by professional reporter Dana White. She is spreading the word of the fight by retweeting many anxious fans.

McGregor Talks About Making History

In an interview between Conor McGregor and Sports Illustrated, McGregor sets goals to make UFC history... 

"Let me see the pictures on publications with a belt on each shoulder first. Let me go onto the side of that Octagon and raise two world titles, what's never been done before, before talking about stripping me. Let me get the f------ things, let me do it. I'll always listen to the correct business move and I'll always do what is the correct move, but let me do it and let me go back and look at some pictures of me with two belts and let me embrace it for half-a-day. Let me look at the historic images we're going to get on this night, me with these two belts. That's what everyone should be excited about, this is history."

UFC Twitter Activity 10/16 - 10/22

#UFC207 is expected to be a big one! The Dominick Cruz vs Cody Garbrandt fight is the featured match. They are fighting for the bantamweight title! They were both former heavyweight champs. Cruz, already holds the title for bantamweight, so his honor won’t be the only thing he is defending.

Another match to look forward to at #UFC207 features the current titleholder Nunes taking on former champion Rousey. These women are both prepared to come out victorious.

Silva backs down

Silva entered a fight against Cormier when Jon Jones was removed from the fight. Silva believes he did get enough respect for stepping in in such short notice, and because he lost he believes that his comeback to UFC is ‘complicated’ now. He later on apologizes for his actions.

UFC Twitter Activity 10/9 - 10/16

“Cyborg” routinely taunts Ronda Rousey, calling her names such as “Rowdy” in interviews and on social media. UFC President Dana White and Rousey see it differently, though, and are apparently certain the fantasy grudge match will eventually become reality. Rousey is 135lbs and "Cyborg" would struggle to cut to that weight, as she is 145lbs as of her last fight. Many fighters believe that Rousey should move up to Cyborg's weight class, but Rousey insists that Cyborg come down to her class. Much hype has been around Rousey since she recently announced that she will return to the octagon in December. This will be her first fight since she lost her Banterweight title last year. We should have some interesting events coming up in the future!

John Lineker get a controversial win by defeating John Dodson, and hes one step closer to a title. Also Alex de Oliveira defeated Will Brooks but after victory showed a nonprofessional gesture after, not showing class or social respect, yelling and taunting Brooks after he lost.

Special treatment is given to McGregor because he brings in money. Keeping a featherweight belt for over a year, and has been absence from fighting in a featherweight since December. People are absorbed, the belts should mean something and McGregor just holds on to the belt while others are actually fighting in featherweight.
