Finally had the courage to use my new set of watercolors and I love them already ✨
The masking tape betrayed me a little bit though 🥺

Miss Fisher Snippets (269)
The delicious banter at the seaside in S2E3 Dead Man’s Chest. Knowing this was a temperance household, Jack still popped open the champagne bottle and poured a glass for Phryne. (Let it be known that he didn’t break all the rules as he sipped tea from a tiny teacup himself.) Well aware that it was scandalous to be entertained by a lady alone in her private parlor, he seemed as comfortable and relaxed as could be. (They were talking cases after all, never mind that Queenscliff was out of his jurisdiction.) Seeing how promptly he dopped everything upon receiving her call, I dare say he’d ignored the speed limit and reached the seaside town well under three hours. Although in haste, thank goodness he found time to pack his bathing suit, which proved to be quite helpful in solving the case while catching a certain lady detective’s ogling eye.

Jack Robinson is just Pleased to hang out with Phryne :^}
Decided to do a watercolor rendition of the remarcable painting from the show that we don't see enough of (hopefully I don't get banned for nudity or something?). I'll probably cut the white borders at some point, or at least trim them 👀
I made a little GIF with the progress that shows that I need to work harder on taking more consistent photos next time haha
Should I cut all white borders?
Leave some
Cut it all
Leave as it is

If they had phones back then, Jack would have made Phryne turn on location sharing almost immediately.

Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (2012-2015) ↳ 2x03 Dead Man’s Chest
Oh he's scowling on the outside 🤨
But inside he's all mush ready to give in 🔥🥵🫠
Jack Robinson has seen war and it's horrors, he's been married, is separated and in the middle of a divorce. He's a detective inspector with the New South City Police; a position which has given him a front row seat to many of the ways in which human behaviour can surprise - good and bad. He's sex on two legs a very good looking man so he's no stranger to female attention. The only reason there aren't a gaggle of women following him around is because he's a decent sort and prefers to conduct his amorous activities discreetly.
All of this is to say, he's not an innocent, he's seen a lot of the world, probably more than most ever will in their lifetimes; and yet, whenever he has cause to see Miss Fisher in less than appropriate clothing or parts of her unclothed self, his brain ceases to function. He's becomes flustered, cannot speak, he can barely close his mouth, he basically becomes an untried youth at the sight of his first woman. It makes me want to say to him "sir, what is the matter with you?" 😂😂😂
#Rewatching from S1 to take note of all those Phrack moments I didn't catch the first time around.
#I've replayed those moments so many times
#The faces he makes during those scenes are everything
#I've laughed so many times

*This* is exactly what I’ve thought from the very beginning. To me, Jack is a flirt—an experienced man, far too handsome not to be aware of it. He flirts with Miss Fisher right from the start, and I’d eat my hat if he hadn’t used those looks to his advantage during an investigation. Of course, that’s not all he is. His serious demeanour and introspective nature certainly influence how he behaves, but—as he’s pointed out himself—he’s a full-grown man.
That grown man chooses not to flirt with Miss Fisher regularly (yes, that’s him holding back), and he flushes at the mere sight of her knees because he genuinely cares for her. She’s not just a lady meddling in his investigations—she’s so much more, and that undeniable need to protect himself is always there.
That’s what makes their will-they/won’t-they so irresistible. They’re both constantly navigating each other’s boundaries—his physical reserve and her instinct to keep partners at arm’s length—yet they bend, adjust, make space for the other. And in doing so, they become something much greater, all while remaining true to themselves.
This is just so on point!
Jack chooses not to use his good looks (of which he's perfectly aware)
And whoa he certainly is sex on two legs very appealing to any cis-gendered straight woman (myself included) So Miss Fisher is showing an admirable amount of restraint 🫠

Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (2012-2015) ↳ 1x13 King Memses’ Curse
Miss Fisher, I appreciate your curiosity for crime, but- Well, every lady needs a hobby.
I think that Jack is just damn good at his job. Remember that the business card comes at the end of their interaction. We can tell by Jack’s face after she leaves that he knows that she has just read his crime scene perfectly, she’s running rings around Hugh, and she’s flirted with him very openly. Either she’s the killer or she’s the best damn detective he’s ever met, and whichever it is, she’s going to be trouble. He plays her right back, and ensures that his name is the first one that comes to mind when she needs a policeman.
