¡Hala Madrid!
I think Cristiano’s move makes perfect sense. It feels right that he goes to a top level club in one of the big, widely followed European leagues. And also, it makes sense that he moves on, not back to England.
It’s natural.
I don’t feel too sad about him leaving Real Madrid at this point of his life and career. In a way, he is more than a club player, more than a club legend: he is a phenomenon that exceeds the boundaries of any single club, a football legend on international scale.
Real Madrid will be different next season, for sure. As a madridista I am still a wobbly toddler and I have no idea what the club is without Cristiano Ronaldo or what it is without Zinedine Zidane. What I do know is that it prevails: it prevails because it has prevailed before, with a heritage that is more than any one player, any one coach, any club official.
Next season may be a bumpy ride, but with Real Madrid, since when was a smooth sailing expected anyway?
