hi, loves! secret’s out, i’m admin s. i know a few of you knew of my position, and maybe a couple more have figured it out ( s = sylv = me is not rocket science ), but to those who may still be surprised, ‘tis i! i was the xo admin that tried to always make sure y’all felt my love.

i’m truly sorry that this is the way my time here had to end. i apologize if our leaving shook some people and put the future of mapo into question; it was very much not the intention the admin team had in mind.

before i go, i would, very briefly, like to give out a final few remarks on why this decision has been made for me.

mapo started out as an honestly great experience for me. i don’t think i’ve ever met a collection of roleplayers that has been so willing to talk to everyone -- every one of you has been warm, friendly, and genuinely excited to interact, even with the incredible growth of muses and muns alike that we’ve seen since mapo’s inception. regrettably, the many admin duties -- and, frankly, roleplaying itself -- have started to become hindrances to other endeavours in my life; i simply can’t spare the time to be online as often as i used to, because my real life situation is picking up drastically very soon.

my busy schedule as of late has also been a factor in my muse for mona dropping drastically; i think it can be seen in my replies as of late that i haven’t been writing with my usual calibre. i’d hate to hog a faceclaim as popular as krystal is -- especially since i’m sure another will come along that’s lightyears better than ‘lil mo -- with a character whose psyche i cannot tap into anymore, so i’ve decided to go.

to the new admin team, i wish you all the best in your work. i know you’ll do great, but if you ever need a hand these first few days, don’t hesitate to message me and i’ll try my best to help you out. to the members, from the og’s to the lil cute tadpoles, i hope you keep finding mapo as wonderful as i used to; that your muses thrive and grow in this roleplay. lastly, to my admin team, my meme girls, my superfreaks: #spicy even in death.

the silence is a loaded gun. the loudest kind of quiet is when there is an answer arrested in the air -- the unspoken, weighted words burden her slim frame, are asphyxiated in his throat. mona wonders if he can hear the thunderous pulsing of her heart -- the erratic rhythm that rattles her ribcage and makes the tips of her fingers quiver. her heels shuffle underneath her. the chair feels uncomfortable. her neck is warm to the touch. she is a fidgeting, bashful wreck of a girl.

seonji’s wordlessness allows her to introspect; to admonish herself for falling into this mayhem in the first place. he’d only inquired of the humble beginnings of their friendship, searching for the lost memories to complete the fragmentations in his timeline. one story after another and the truth had toppled forth from behind her teeth -- well, yes, we did it; you were actually the first -- unbidden, unnecessary, unwanted. not even the caustic manner in which she bites her tongue to silence herself does no good; the secret is out, and mona is mortified.

finally, he speaks, and her eyes move their gaze from her restless hands to his face. seonji’s words make her cheekbones bloom vermillion; she grips the mug of tea more securely between her white palms. “w-well, yes. you were,” she bites her inner cheek, revolted by her stutter.

when the word lovers is released from seonji’s lips mona nearly squeaks. red to the tips of her ears, she emphatically cries out with a no! before recovering her sense ( somewhat ). “we weren’t lovers,” she refutes firmly with a shake of her head. “it was just a one-time thing. it was awkward, i think, for the both of us. we did stay friends though, as you can see.” mona smiles then, lips pulling back to reveal her cordial grin. “i think it was just too good of a friendship to let go. and i don’t think you were into me all that much. i wasn’t either -- no offense.”

and sure enough she hears a small rapid knock on her door.

punctuality is a blessing that has eluded her. it trails in her wake in the form of the seconds that she so haphazardly destroys; wasted remnants of what could have been done, what she could have done, what would have been different. mona tries -- wholeheartedly, with firm tone and set heart -- to set herself right, but she has weak knees and graceless fingers and time escapes her anyway.

instead, she’s taken to apologies so easily it seems pre-destined. even as she comes up to cameron’s door, panting pathetically and nursing the blooming stitch in her side, her tongue is heavy with i’m sorry’s and forgive me’s. she is a broken record that only reiterates repentant words. mona’s knuckles rap on the door in her conventional sharp, brisk manner -- after finding a deep breath a suitable amount of time to allow for a response, she wraps her fingers around the knob’s cool handle and gradually opens the door.

“i’m only two minutes late this time,” she utters between pants; the stinging in her side furrows her brows and turns her features into an expert grimace. “i’m sorry; i honestly didn’t think you’d reply so fast, since i’m a little short notice. i ran from my place to here in my pajamas.”

her fingers entwine, unravel, repeat in her restlessness. today, unlike most days, she is decidedly anxious for her usual fix. with a mind plagued by melancholy that spreads throughout her like lethal poison, the dark-haired girl is extraordinarily fidgety -- and she is need of something, anything, to calm her down.

“you think i could get a little more today? i’ll pay extra, of course.”

Jaewook holds Mona’s face between his hands as he presses their lips together finally having a kiss he’s been craving for all night.He stays like that, with his lips pressed against Mona’s, for roughly five seconds, though it feels much longer to Jaewook as the background noises are drowned out by Mona’s presence. “I’m not kidding about the weed.” he merely mumbles when he finally pulls back. Her hand slips into his easily before he pulls her towards the VIP lounge, looking back at her every now and then with a look of admiration and pure bliss on his face.

it’s not because of the alcohol that she is breathless when he grins at her. coquettish shyness hides itself in crevice between his shoulder and his neck; laughing softly, mouth parted in a smile. mona likes to believe that being love-struck is well behind her, but even she cannot remain impartial to the youthful flush and the stuttering heartbeat that accompany a handsome boy smiling at you like you’re the only one in the world.

she catches her breath just to lose it again. it dissipates with his fervent mouth against her open grin; it is almost juvenile the way his hands have captured her cheeks, how they stand a centimetre apart, how this kiss reminds her of being sixteen and in a tender first love. but this is jaewook, and she is mona, and there is nothing tender or lovely about them. she breathes in again. “you better not have been kidding,” she says, levelling him a glare stripped of its menace. “i had to go through that awful crowd to come here. i can’t leave empty handed.”

upon their arrival, the upscale interior of the vip lounge arrests her breath -- gone is her audacious grin and the spirited mirth in her eyes. mona remembers, abruptly, the sheer discomfort that overwhelms her when she tiptoes into affluence; her mother’s sphere, her mother’s longing. she’s never been comfortable in the face of splendour -- silk is too evasive, gold is too blinding, diamonds are too distorting, and mona has never quite been able to keep a firm grasp of herself in their midst. her spine rescinds and her shoulders hunch; her fingers, entwined in jaewook’s grip, loosen their hold; she walks behind him cautiously, wary prey being escorted into a lion’s den.

people that seem to know jaewook call out to him, glassy, carefree grins on their faces. the dark-haired girl cannot help but to notice the plethora of women hanging around the table; pretty women, scantily clad women, women tucked neatly underneath the arms of jaewook’s rich compatriots. and suddenly, there is a stinging in her chest and foreboding whirling in her stomach. why did he bring her here?

the rhythmic clacking of keyboards and the swift clicking of mouses is soothing. white noise at its finest. mona finds her mind wandering far too often during spells of silence at her workplace, only to catch herself in the midst of a reverie, with her english literature reading slipping off of its makeshift perch on the register. other times -- such as this particular moment -- she is absorbed in the latest update of a series, fingers tapping at the counter as her eyes devour chapter eighty one of her current favourite manga. she’s almost at the pinnacle of the story arc when her phone buzzes in her lap; mona nearly collapses in her shock.

the dark-haired girl scans bo’s texts with a curious eye. she is, on the one hand, amused -- only the inimitable kyung bo would christen a bra with its very own epithet -- and on the other, she is bemused. it isn’t as if bo visits her workplace frequently; she is positive that the older girl wouldn’t dare sully the red soles of her louboutins by dredging around in this parallel universe far-removed from her own. for bo to come to the pc bang of her own accord made mona’s skin prickle with nervousness -- it had to be something of momentous consequence to propel bo into such dire action. mona wonders what that occasion is -- and she wonders why it necessarily has to involve her.

( to: bo ) i’ll be waiting! ( to: bo ) is anything the matter? ( to: bo ) are you okay?

chapter forgotten, she sits upright on the stool behind the counter, alternating between worriedly tossing her phone around in her hands and staring with morbid intensity at the entrance of her workspace. she hears the all-too-familiar clack of heels storming down a pathway and her feet press themselves into the ground automatically; standing now, she waits with a mild expression of nonchalance that contradicts feverishly with the itching inquisitiveness that wraps itself tight around her mind.

it’s like she is the main performer in a tragedy. the tale starts like this: her, in her crisp white button-up and wrinkled black shorts, nursing a frigid americano in between her palms. lips puckered, sipping slowly, she walks absentmindedly -- heel-toe, heel-toe, skipping cracks in the pavement and letting people with a higher purpose pass her by. en route home from an uneventful shift at the pc bang, she’s decided to be leisurely in her walk -- to enjoy the way the breeze lifts her shirt collar and to get some sun before it sets in the distance. quaint setting, innocence abundant -- a slow, careful build-up.

the climax happens all at once.

instead of the tender kiss of the sun and the taste of cold coffee it is the acrid stench of rubber burning; the poignant, loaded silence and the shrieks that follow; the dark, deep red colour that floods the crosswalk. someone yells -- what they yell, mona cannot comprehend -- and from the motionless crowd she sees a boy jump into action, knees hitting the pavement hard as he scrambles towards the prone animal. it’s distressing -- how his cries go unheard, how everyone else in the crowd are cardboard figurines in their inactivity. mona can’t stand it.

“find the wound and keep pressure on it,” she utters with a firm tone that belies the mayhem inside of her. “do you have cloth -- anything -- to keep it pressed down? do that, okay?”

her white shirt blooms crimson. her hands are dipped in blood. she wonders if there is an ambulance service for wounded animals, but her fingers are too clumsy to pull out her phone and check. “you’re getting blood on your jeans, be careful,” mona says, eyeing the figure beside her -- as if she isn’t drenched herself. “is it-- is it yours?”
