I have a couple questions about tomatoes for a story I'm writing. I'm wondering, how well can a tomato plant survive without someone caring for it? Is it at all realistic for someone to find one still somewhat alive in an old garden that was abandoned and then revive it?
I can rework the story to use a different plant, but I figured I'd at least try tomatoes first, and ask someone who actually know things about them lol.

So it's not particularly likely your character would find a dying tomato plant to nurse back to health, because they THRIVE on Neglect. What they'll find is a MASSIVELY OVERGROWN TOMATO TREE that has probably killed two of it's neighbors and is looking to go a little Ghengis Khan on any surrounding architecture.
