It was my dad who taught me to read. Not the literal ABC’s but the simple pleasure of picking up a book and getting lost in the story. There were no reading lists or gold star rewards, there was only the story. It was simple, if you liked that story, you’d find another one like it and then you’d read the crap out of that one.
