BETH DUTTON + ROASTING MEN (Season 1)
z. king.
Zach had been watching Mia — a Cohen, how could he not notice? — and once she was on the move, he kept close, amusement glancing his features as he caught her stealing some random guy’s watch. Just as he stepped out to greet her, the blonde slammed into Zach, both his hands coming up to grab her by the shoulders.
“Your watch? Cause from my viewpoint, looks like a Cohen is stealin’.”
It took a quick glance up for Mia to quickly pull herself from Zach’s grip, taking a step or two backwards. “Good thing no one gives a shit about your viewpoint,” the blonde looked down towards the sidewalk and spotted the watch, though noted the face of it was now cracked down the middle. Of course. “Is there something I can help you with?” the youngest Cohen questioned, “Or are you just stalking me for fun?”
a. king.
“Your watch? You sure about that?” Adam wondered, very obviously adjusting the watch on his wrist. It’d been a shitty lift.
“Didn’t know times were so tough, Cohen. Ask nicely, and maybe I’ll let you have it back.”
Of all the people Mia could have run into, of course it had to be Adam King. It grated her nerves to see him wearing the watch she had rightfully stolen, but she refused to give him the satisfaction. “On second thought, maybe you should keep it. I ripped it off for fun, but maybe you can sell it and get a couple bucks to help pay for whatever shitty, studio apartment you and your brothers are crashing at.”
s. cohen.
Scarlett had been tailing her sister. Not because she was worried about her, or trying to protect her, but because she knew when the youngest Cohen was up to something and she wanted to see what it was. The baby of the family wasn’t meant to get into the dirty details like the others did, but she was a Cohen by blood so the need for trouble was practically ingrained in her DNA. Which was why Scarlett couldn’t help but look on in amusement as she watched her sister snatch someone else’s watch right off their wrist. Very well done, if she had to give her praise. But still not quite pro.
Judging where it looked like her sister would be heading, she jumped ahead and found herself in exactly the right spot as Mia rounded the corner for her getaway and smacked directly into Scarlett where she was able to quickly snatch the stolen watch for herself.
“Was this what you were looking for?” Scarlett smirked, dangling the piece between them and giggling as she brought it behind her back before Mia could try to take it again.
“Seriously?” It was clear by Mia’s tone she was annoyed, seeing her older sister playing keep away with her prize. When it came to the Cohen sisters, the two couldn’t have been more different. Scarlett had always been upfront and in your face about her bad decisions, while Mia typically chose to fly under the radar. She shouldn’t have been surprised Scarlett was following her around, especially with the news of the King brothers being back in town. “What are you even doing here?” the blonde questioned, arms crossed over her chest. “Did Trevor or Parker tell you to follow me?” While being the youngest came with a lot of perks that Mia often exploited, it also came with its fair share of disadvantages aka never being taken seriously and always being viewed as ‘the baby’. Granted, stealing a random stranger’s watch probably wasn’t doing much to help her case in being taken more seriously, but it wasn’t like the rest of her siblings hadn’t done worse. “I was just bored and felt like having some fun,” Mia insisted, still eyeing the watch in Scarlett’s hands. “It’s not like I killed anyone.”
Even if the blonde was no longer in the position of having to steal things in order to get money, there really wasn’t an adrenaline rush quite like nabbing a wallet—or in this case a watch—right out from under the owner’s nose. With said Rolex secured loosely around Mia’s wrist, it became a game of bobbing and weaving through the crowded Los Angeles’s sidewalk.
One glance back to see if she was being followed as she turned the corner ended with the blonde slamming into an unknown body causing her to stumble backwards. She looked down at her wrist once she’d regained her balance, irritated to see the watch was now gone.
“What the fuck? Where the fuck is my watch?”
p. cohen.
“Yes… I’m aware.”
The idea of Trevor’s head exploding was not good. Not for anyone around him – Mia, Scarlett, or that poor stripper that he strung around. It made him wonder about the Inferno, how the dynamic would shift now that the Kings had returned.
“I don’t know,” Parker replied with a sigh. If Tanzie knew, she hadn’t mentioned it. “I don’t think so.”
He sipped at the wine before him, pensive as he thought about his daughter, and whether she’d be safe in this city.
“We’ll be fine,” Parker finally said. “Just gotta keep a close eye on things. And you don’t go anywhere without Jay, alright?”
It didn’t take a rocket scientist to see that Parker was nervous. Quite frankly, any person that was remotely involved with either the Cartel itself or the King’s should have been nervous. Mia knew there was only one way this shit storm was going to end and it would most likely involve a lot of bloodshed. “You realize that I’m technically without Jay right now, yes?” the blonde couldn’t resist— despite the seriousness of the situation—trying to alleviate the tension in the room. As much as Mia knew she needed to take the situation seriously, she didn’t want to spend the entire dinner talking about the fucking Kings. “New topic: have you done any wedding planning at all?” the blonde reached for her wine glass as her head canted to the right. “Also, I don’t care what Trevor says, if you make him your Best Man, I won’t come.”
w. hayes.
Winny pretended not to feel the sting that came with Mia not recognizing her. It’s not like she’d been dating Trevor for the last … whatever! But Winny could take it. She nodded at the blonde confidently, seemingly unfazed. “Yes! Winny. And you’re Mia. Trevor’s baby sister.”
“Don’t know why I introduced you to yourself. Anyway! Are you drinking anything? I’ll buy.”
Winny certainly wasn’t going to miss an opportunity to bond with Mia. Maybe it’d even land her on Trevor’s good side later, if he knew that Winny was getting along with his siblings.
The grip Mia had on her drink tightened when Winny referred to her as ‘Trevor’s baby sister’. She hated being called that, not that she could really fault Winny for not knowing. Ordinarily, the blonde wouldn’t have given the younger girl the time of day, but Parker had told her to stay out of trouble and given that she had already ditched her security that night, pissing off Trevor’s whatever was probably not in her best interest. “I actually just bought a round,” the blonde looked down at the two drinks in her hand before offering one to the brunette. “I hope you like tequila.” Not that Mia would have been disappointed in not having to share her back-up drink. “So... do you play pool?”
w. hayes.
Winny had just finished choreographing a new routine for her next shift and was now in need of a drink. Or two. She stood in a crowded bar, eyeing the figure in front of her. Amazing ass, she thought to herself. She downed some of her drink, wondered if she was upset enough with Trevor to wanna make him jealous that night.
After a few hours of playing ‘dodge your security guard’, Mia had successfully given her babysitter the slip as she made her way up to the bar. Most nights the blonde wouldn’t be caught dead getting her own drinks, but sometimes it was nice to be able to enjoy a night out without feeling like she had to play a role all night. She hadn’t expected to turn around with her drinks and nearly run into Trevor’s—girlfriend, friend with benefits, favorite stripper— “Hey... Winny, right?”
j. burke.
“No no, don’t worry about that. How about I come out there instead? Or we both visit some other place,” Jay suggested to his little sister, who he was currently on the phone with. He’d do whatever it takes to keep his sister far away from Los Angeles. “Trust me, shit out here is over hyped anyways. We’ll figure something out… alright, love you.”
Jay stepped out of his parked car after hanging up the phone, making sure he didn’t leave the two cups of coffee he got on his way to Mia’s. What a beautiful start to his day, he thought to himself. A soft knock was given on the door, a hand extending out once it had been opened. “Just the way you like it.”
@miacohens
“Yes, Koda, I can hear you whining,” Mia shouted upstairs from her bedroom, grabbing her phone and keys before making her way downstairs to her living room, her three year old German Shepherd already waiting by her front door. “The fucking dramatics.” By definition, Mia hated any and all types of exercise, hence why taking Koda on walks—and running around LA in six inch heels—was the closest the blonde would ever get. Securing Koda’s harness and grabbing her leash, Mia heard a knock at the door and was pleasantly surprised to see coffee and Jay on the other side. “I thought you were doing something were handling something with Trevor today...?” the blonde questioned as she reached out for the coffee with one hand while simultaneously gripping the dog leash and locking her front door with the other. “Regardless, I’m taking Koda for a walk,” she felt the dog tugging her towards the exit once more, “and she’s about to yank my arm off, so, let’s go.”
p. cohen.
“Mm… no,” Parker simply responded. “Buying the restaurant would make things a hell of a lot easier. I do like the chase, though,” he added playfully. At the mention of the Kings, Parker couldn’t help but tense slightly. There was only one thing, really, that worried him about their return.
Tanzie.
“I haven’t said anything. I’m sure he’s heard about it.”
“Probably best to stay on his good side during all of this, alright, Mia?”
When it came to Mia and her ‘position’ within the Cartel, she was well aware of the part that she played: Trevor, Scarlett and Parker were the brains, brawn and brute while Mia showed up to events and smiled for the cameras. She stayed out of the way as much as she possibly could, especially when it came to Trevor. “You know he’s going to lose his shit, right?” Mia spoke matter-a-factly, taking another drag from her cigarette. “Like his head might actually explode.” The blonde had been on the receiving end of Trevor’s anger on more than one occasion and while sometimes Mia liked to push her luck and press buttons, she wasn’t stupid. “Does Tanzie know yet?”
p. cohen.
“To waste your time,” Parker responded without hesitation, smirking a little smugly before looking up at his youngest sister. “I do realize that, Mia, thank you.” He took a sip of the wine. “The thing is… I like eating here. And, as a potential future owner, it’s important that I’m always sampling the food. Otherwise, I’d be a pretty shitty restaurateur.”
He offered Mia a playful wink.
“How was your day today?”
“Okay, well maybe you should start considering removing the words ‘potential’ and ‘future’ from the owner part and just, now stay with me on this one: become the owner?” Not like Mia actually knew anything about owning a restaurant save for what she’d seen on Vanderpump Rules, but what kind of little sister would she be if she didn’t take the opportunity to poke at her older brother?” Lighting the end of her cigarette, Mia offered Parker a one shouldered shrug. “Nothing out of the ordinary,” well, not technically nothing... “I mean, there was that whole well backed rumor about the King’s being back in town...” The blonde made eye contact, though her facial expression read flat. “Has anyone told Trevor?”
p. cohen.
Though there were rampant rumors that the King brothers were back, Parker wasn’t entirely worried. Trevor held a firm grip on the city of Los Angeles. If anything… it’d make things more interesting. Keep his brother preoccupied.
Parker had decided to end the night at his favorite Italian restaurant in the city. He was looking into purchasing it, so they often made exceptions for him. Like allowing him to stick around, long after they’d closed their doors. He’d been seated in the outdoor dining area, enjoying a glass of wine, when he heard footsteps approach.
“They’re closed.”
“Then why did you text me to meet you here?” Mia appeared, brows scrunching in confusion as her eyes swept the restaurant behind her as well as the outside area, noting her brother was indeed the only customer there. Nothing out of the ordinary there. She made her way to the table, plopping herself down as the blonde reached for the bottle of wine and proceeded to pour herself a very generous glass of vino before reaching for her cigarettes. “You do realize that you don’t have to pick this place every time it’s your turn to pick the restaurant, right?”
