hi, yall! its been a minute <333

i just wanted to post bc im watching girl meets world for the first time, and there was a scene where the main characters are having a school dance, and who is the live band but sheppard!! they started playing say geronimo, and i messaged one of my friends and was like there is no way theyre playing my credits-rolling song from mia on girl meets world. but they were! and it made me think again about how mia is such a period piece.

its funny bc i only set it back four years from when i started it. i think the reason initially was something about wanting the dates and days to line up a certain way or something and then seeing what year that would make it, but it worked so well in 2014, bc in 2018 and 19 when i was writing the majority of it, i was so close to 2014 still that i knew how it all felt and what had been the most important. and what really felt 2014 had solidified in my mind, you know?

a fun challenge was that i had to keep doing searches like, which movies would be coming out right now? what are the new albums in this certain month? what current events are happening? and it was such a fun part of the process.

and now watching a show that was actually airing right around that time and seeing the song that i chose specifically as the feel-good, fun, everything-is-sort-of-resolved-but-not-really song to play at awsten's birthday party show up in girl meets world as the everything-is-a-little-crazy-but-its-probably-going-to-be-okay song, like... idk. it made me feel happy :) and i wanted to share that here.

i hope all of you are well! i see most of yall regularly on my main acct but yeah its extra nice when i get likes and stuff over here <3 thank you for still caring. thank you for revisiting mia when it crosses your mind. thank you for reading this today :)

Youve talk about foster!au awsten being sick but what about when geoff gets sick??

awsten is the absolute cutest and does all the things that happen in his books. thinking he literally brings a plastic water bottle filled with warm water to geoff ("hot water bottle") and puts a towel on his forehead and stuff.

geoff is grumpy about it and tries to get awsten to stop but he also thinks it's really sweet, especially when tiny awsten brings his toy doctor kit in to "check daddy's temperature" and listen to his heart. then he gives geoff a "shot" and puts a real band-aid on geoff's hand and declares him all better. geoff thanks him and says he needs to rest after his shot and could awsten please close the door behind him.

mr. wood is on his way over and will be there any minute to walk him back to the woods' for a playdate, which geoff asked for so he could nap in peace :)

i remember reading rising tide as it was coming out at 15 and now im turning 20 soon :) love that youre still writing and active occasionally miaverse means so much to me !! <3

it's so cool seeing everybody get older and still think about mia sometimes <3333 i was in my early/mid-20s when i wrote it, but i know a fair bit of the readers were teenagers. it's so fun for me looking back bc i know stuff from those ages really sticks with people, and it's crazy to me that mia might be something that sticks with some of yall.

i just finished MIA (the first one) (actually i finished like thirty minutes ago but i was just laying down thinking about it for a while before i started writing this) . i love this story so incredibly much. the character development is so amazing, like better than most books i’ve read ever.

it’s only been like a week or two since i started reading but like i. wow. this is so much more than a story to me, im gonna try not to dump personal stuff on you but the ending especially was like kinda really healing to read (sorry if that sounds dramatic or weird or stuff)

this is absolutely amazing i can’t fully put it into words. you are so talented. this is so beautiful. i loved EVERYTHING about it. absolutely everything. just wow.

i’m not really sure how to end this but i hope you have a good day. thank you for this. WOW

i just rewatched perks of being a wallflower (i’ve read & watched it before but not since reading MIA) and everything about mr. anderson kept reminding me of mr. w

i think people have told me this before :') it means a lot to me. i remember that mr. anderson really cares about charlie and goes out of his way to connect with him, so it makes me happy that he reminds you of mr. w <333

thinking about mr. w having a complete internal meltdown about chat gpt essays. there's one singular incident where somebody turns in something weird, and he immediately makes all his kids go back to paper and pencil and tells them they only need to work on their essays for him during his class lol

“Well,” Mrs. Dawkins sighed, “it sounds like we’re on our own for Thanksgiving this year.” She smiled tiredly at the man and two teenagers standing in front of her. “Looks like I’ll be doing the cooking.” 

“Actually,” Ashton started, but he stopped. 

“What is it?” she asked kindly. 

He shook his head. “Never mind.”

That night, however, he went to her room and knocked on the door. Mr. Dawkins opened it and said, “Hey, Ashton. What can I do you for?” 

Ashton smiled a little anxiously. “Is, um… is she in there?” ‘Mom’ wasn’t something Ashton was comfortable with yet, but the mother of the family didn’t seem to like when Ashton called her ‘Mrs. Dawkins,’ so ‘she’ seemed like the best compromise at the moment.

“I’m here.” She patted the quilt. “What’s up?” 

He went over and sat. “I was thinking about what you said, about how, um, Gramma and Grampa and Aunt Lisa can’t have everybody over this year, and it’s just gonna be us, so I was thinking, maybe…” He swallowed. “Maybe I could cook.”

Hello mr w! I hope you’re having a great day! What’s your favourite holiday and why? Also, what’s your favourite thing about Awsten?

Hello, Angel. That is kind of you; I hope the same for you.

I am afraid that I do not care much for holidays, although Thanksgiving has become a bit more favorable in my book after I had such a pleasant day with Awsten and the Wood family last year. Christmas was nice as well, but there was something special about Thanksgiving. I suppose I preferred Thanksgiving since I felt like I was of assistance. More importantly, perhaps, there were no gifts, which meant that everyone merely enjoyed the company of one another.

My favorite thing about Awsten is his ability to spread joy wherever he goes. I have most definitely smiled more in this past year because of him than I have in the last ten years combined.

have we heard about foster au thanksgiving yet? bc i would like to hear about it

awsten and geoff go to the woods’ for an early dinner

awsten eats and eats and eats, and he’s so happy 

awsten gives a long speech after dinner about how he’s thankful for what feels like a million different things, and geoff and mrs. wood both think it’s very cute bc he’s so tiny but he has so much to say and he’s being so genuine and cute 

otto says something about the charlie brown thanksgiving special, and awsten is confused, so otto asks mrs. wood if they can show it to awsten and she says yes 

awsten and otto sit on the carpet and watch most of it while the adults clean up dinner

geoff helps clean, but mrs. wood shoos him away pretty quickly, so he goes to sit on the couch behind the boys

awsten gets up and climbs into his lap and starts sucking his thumb while he watches. otto snuggles up on geoff’s other side and holds awsten’s free hand 

awsten wants to sit in geoff’s lap for dessert. geoff says no at first, but awsten only takes a few bites of his pie before he gets too sleepy and starts whining to be held. geoff can see how exhausted he is from his big day, so he gives in, and within minutes, awsten is sleeping on geoff’s chest while geoff eats his apple pie

hmmm let’s put awsten at about 7 years old

awsten and geoff are at the woods’ house, and geoff and mrs. wood are cooking, and awsten and otto are “helping” (aka mostly just slowing everything down)

it’s very lowkey and calm. awsten keeps going to bother geoff while he’s reading and eventually mr. wood takes otto and awsten outside to play “football” and geoff gets about three minutes of peace and quiet before awsten rushes back in and begs for geoff to please please please come outside and play with them. geoff closes his book and goes, and awsten drags him by the hand out to the yard and is beaming. geoff is terrible but everyone thinks it’s funny and cute, so nobody really minds. 

after dinner and once everything’s cleaned up, geoff takes both boys back to the mansion for a movie and a sleepover that night.
