Mya Montoito ‘Bring me the calm’ (2015)
Last saturday morning dawned with warnings of bad weather, rain and strong winds. None the less, me and all the other participants of a local fair converged at the fair site to open our stands.... After an hour of getting there, the wind and the rain became so strong that we had no other choice than to flee from the flying tents and a collapsing 300 square meters structure.
At three o’clock in the afternoon, we were allowed to return... to clean up the mess, and recover what we could. The photographer part of me had to photograph the destruction, that was my way of dealing with a harrowing day, of bringing myself a measure of peace, of calm.

Midtown Walkscape
I’m heading down to #look3 in VA where my Walkscape images will be showing tonight.
More work can be found on my Instagram account dedicated to these images @conceptual_ben In a nutshell this project is best described with the following statement.
We live in a time of radical documentation: Cameras are within easy reach and CCTVs record our every move. Our landscape and street corners are painstakingly documented. Time and space are mere elements to be observed, recorded and stored away. My response has been to deconstruct and compress all these elements into a kaleidoscope of overlapping imagery. Walkscapes presents both sides of our visual tendencies: the obsessive documentation of the quotidian and our growing need to retain a modicum of anonymity. The images are made from 30-100 merged pictures taken as I walk down a city block. All are made “in-phone” at the moment of capture.
