First 2 weeks, a reflection
so the first two weeks have blown by, I have done so much and met so many new people. Adjusting here really hasn’t been that hard honestly.
My host family is AMAZING. I love them so much, they are so kind and caring, everyone of the family members has welcomed me with so much love, food, and funny stories.Â
School here seems to be much harder than in the U.S. since you can’t choose your classes and there are no levels but all my teachers have been pretty understanding for the most part. I’ve made friends with most of the girls in my class and we all eat snack together. Since in Spain they eat lunch so late everyone goes out or goes home for lunch.
My down time here has been pretty good, my host family has taken me to see so many different sites and cool things in and around the city I’m in. We went and looked at downtown Barcelona, the beach, a few churches, a movie theater (so far the ones here are much bigger and nicer than the ones in the U.S.), and I even got to participate in a parade in town.
The Inbound Orientation was so much fun!! I met so many fun people and I can’t wait to see them all again in the spring.Â
One thing that made me so proud of all of us was when a girl named Fathia (from Indonesia) was being discriminated against at school we all came together and showed our support and even got others involved. I’d say over 100 people have either, tweeted, posted on facebook, or sent a picture with them holding a sign showing their support. It is honestly amazing how much everyone cares about one another.
I’m so excited to see what the next few weeks bring!!!!
